The "Soulfuric Sessions" on Defected has always been one of my fav funky soul house compilations. Soulfuric records used to do some top 12 inches. Urban Blues Project, Mambana, Re Vibal Experience all great funk n soul! Still love it, I am off to Ibiza the end of May for the opening partys!

'Nervous Records presents The Soulful House Experience vol 2'. All tracks are heavily inspired by Gospel and very well produced. Great vocals, beautiful mood. Especially 'better days' by Mateo and Matos. Nervous Records US 2003 'Dr Bob Jones presents Inspirational Dance'. This compilation leans heavily on remakes of early Disco and Afro-tribal grooves. The track 'somewhere, somehow (there's a soul heaven) by Deep Sensation is a killerversion of 'we're on the right track' by South Shore Commission. Very well done and 'real'. The instrumental break of 'we're on the right track' with the strings is used almost entirely on this track. Chilling! Also check out singer Kenny Bobien, one of the most influential singers of the genre. Slip 'n Slide Records UK 1999

Slip 'n Slide Records UK 1999 I am honoured that you vaue this comp that i put together, but 'leans heavily on remakes of early Disco and Afro-tribal Grooves' ? sorry but i disagree, the only remake , if you can call it that is the already mentioned 'Soul Heaven', which also has the vocals to part of 'Is It Because I'm Black' - Syl Johnson. 'SOLID GROUND' -Jasper St Company- big underground Baltimore tune that kicked off the interest in the gospel dance scene in Baltimore /Washington when it was originaly released on Basement Boys.Also influenced DJ's like Andy Davis and Terry Jones to start spinning Soulfgul House in their sets. The album is a mixture of Soul Dance tracks and Jazz Dance instrumentals, but disco, sorry but i'm not hearing that. Respect Dr Bob Jones

It turns out he was a friend of the son of the bloke who released it. He apparently isn't as involved with music as he was but was pleased if not a little bewildered to see his record had been played in a UK club.

Peven Everett is a top dancer at the moment. And from Deep Haven, Big Brooklyn Red is good male vocal mover and Kt Brooks too. Regarding current Dj Spinna works, Gordon Chambers is also the one for soulies. As for me, didn't buy new releases for 15 years until last year. Therefore I know I'd overlooked many good things. Dug out Unity Deep a month back and tried it at a Northern/Anything goes night in Stroud and got a good reaction on it as well! Bad Timing:Colonel Abrahams 12" 1990 Horus,another quality release from the good colonel himself. Mainline:Jason Load Experience 12" again from 1990 and a very tasty cover of the Black Ivory classic. Prove It To Me:Ron Wilson soulful deep house on Larry Heards Alleviated label. Shine:Kriss Coleman (not the ex-Fulham manager),also out on Alleviated. Finally,Superficial People:Ten City the sumptuous Timmy Reggisford remix on Atlantic.Ooh Yesss.

Them Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Regarding deep house from Emotive label, don't forget Tony Lee's No Matter please Tony. And yes, James Howard's Feeling Good is a bomb to me. Honestly say I didn't played it well in these 15 years, but surprised by the quality of the groove only a few weeks ago! Personally prefer the dub mix and it's in the latest mix of Rhythmic Freedom show. Them is still house-ing hahah.
