  1. According to Terry Wilson's book "Tamla Motown", Dave Godin felt that since he already had the TMAS and the Stateside releases carried the "A Tamla - Motown Production", he felt that Motown should use that name for all U.K. releases. Berry Gordy proposed the idea to EMI who okayed the new label.
  2. Bob Miner is still at the Record Dugout.
  3. I like the pizza at Leona's. Would agree with you about Lou Malnatis. Wouldn't recommend Giordano's though- had one of the worst pizzas and worst service at the one near Rush- might have been an off night though. You've got some good leads- good luck on your visit !
  4. If you're expecting a girl, Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely".
  5. Billy Paul - "Let's Make A Baby" PIR
  6. The one that really does me in the Frankie and the Classicals "What Can I Do"- her voice is the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard for me. Also- "Moonlight Music In You" .
  7. I've heard the grey Stax labels were pressed locally in the South. They seem to have been used more often on the earlier Stax releases.
  8. Thanks to everyone for all the info !!
  9. Not trying to hijack the thread but... does anyone know anything about the artist (real name), when the record was released or where the label was based? I've never had any luck with info on this one.
  10. The label on the album says Mary Ann Farra, the cover says Maryann Farra. Do you have a pic you could post of the Marian Farra alternate version ??
  11. I've had this on a demo before and the styrene used was terrible- looked minty and sounded good + . The vinyl issue sounds much better.
  12. Mary Ann Farra had an album out with 3 Chi-Lites remakes- "You Got To Be The One", "Stoned Out Of My Mind" and of course "Living In The Footsteps Of Another Girl".
  13. Jackie Lee made "The Duck", the Willie Hutch "The Duck" is a completely different song. The flip side is "When Love Runs Out" . Richard Temple did make "That Beatin' Rhythm" which was a vocal to "Cigarette Ashes" by Jimmy Conwell.
  14. I live in the U.S. and I have only seen that sleeve once. I don't know if it was only made in certain parts of the States. The red sleeve is far more common. But... they did put it on the front cover of "Complete Motown Singles- 1965" from Hip-O so it was used at some point.
  15. The only U.S. release was on the "Chameleon" album on Mowest.
  16. "These Things ..." never came out on V.I.P. . I believe you're thinking about "A Bird In the Hand..." which originally was on V.I.P. #25021 and was probably withdrawn and re-released as V.I.P. #25030.
  17. Hi again Lorraine, I've got another question for you. In the book "Groovesville U.S.A.", it says you got started doing backing vocals on records at Motown and for Ollie McLaughlin. Do you remember any of those sessions? Sorry to be such a pest .
  18. Fair enough- I was only a little, little boy at the time the record came out.
  19. Hi again Lorraine! Just a quick question for you- I know "What Can I Do" was first released on Giant. How did RCA get involved and end up signing you to the label ?
  20. Hi Lorraine, I was trying to point out that Deniece Williams' real name is Deniece Chandler. I think someone thought she might have been you because of the same last name.
  21. "Free", "I've Got The Next Dance", "it's Gonna Take A Miracle", "Let's Hear it For The Boy" etc. etc.
  22. Deniece Chandler = Deniece Williams . Tried to add this to post #167. Sorry !
  23. Hello Lorraine, A big thank you for coming to Soul Source and talking to everyone. An even bigger thanks for all your Classic 45s from the 60s's !!
  24. The Jimmy Mack that produced Alexander Patten was also known as James McKeachin and is not related to the other two Jimmys.
