  1. I think "that early Detroit group recorded but without release for Motown" he was referring to was not the Magnetics but the similar sounding Majestics who later changed their name to the Monitors.
  2. Here's one you don't see too often ...
  3. I saw that and wondered what he was thinking - that's not Etta.
  4. Thanks for the link- really enjoyed the Jo Armstead interview.
  5. Can't give you an exact year but 1968/1969 is more like it. The label closed in 1969 and was reactivated for 3 releases in 1972 (750-752).
  6. I wish I did have a spare one. That's not even a 45 sleeve- the seller I got it from told me it was used as a package for women's nylons in the 60's !! Which makes sense- "Cover Girl Exciting Footwear"
  7. This also came out on a 12" but I think it was promo only.
  8. Technically... the sleeve has nothing to do with the 45, but I always thought they looked nice together.
  9. I was just going to ask if you weren't mixing it up with Midsong #11082.
  10. Just played the 45- just one singer on "The Hurt's Still Here", the flip "Mark My Word" does have a group on it though.
  11. Does anybody know anything about the Girls?? There's only one singer on "The Hurt's Still Here" and I think on the flipside too. The voice seems very familiar- almost like Rhetta Hughes or Jo Armstead. So... who 's doing the vocal ?
  12. Just did a quick search and found Jimmy did pass away in Las Vegas at the age of 64. The article says cause of death is still unknown.
  13. The original version of "Night Owl" doesn't go that far back- Tony Allen's version on Specialty is from the mid 50's.
  14. There's a seller on e-bay that lists almost everything as "Northern Soul" - this week he's got these classics listed as Northern. Captain Beefheart, Steely Dan, Beach Boys,Chet Atkins, Jethro Tull, Jim Croce, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Tony Bennett, Black Oak Arkansas, Yes and my favorite- "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets !!
  15. Jerry Ragavoy redid "I Can't Wait..." with Dionne Warwick on her "Then Came You" album in 1974.
  16. Do you have a release date for the CD yet ?
  17. Many thanks to everyone who helped with a price !
  18. So if a copy showed up in vg/vg+ condition. what do you think it would go for? Checked the usual supects (Popsike, Collector's Frenzy, Mr. M's) and can't find any record of a sale. I know what it guides for but in the real world what do you think it would bring ? ps- I don't have one !
  19. Excellent choice !!
  20. Did Patti make "Pink Cadillac"? Besides the Boss, I always associate it with Natalie Cole's version. Good choices with the Bluebelles songs !!
  21. The cover of the EP is the same as the "Watchout" album. There are 3 songs per side. Side One has "I'm Ready For Love", "One Way Out" and "Jimmy Mack". Side Two includes "I'll Follow You", "No More Tearstained Makeup" and "Tell Me I'll Never Be Alone".
  22. "Tell Me It's Just A Rumour Baby" was released in the U.K. as Tamla Motown TMG #877 in late 1973 .
  23. "Girl You Need A Change Of Mind" was released in the U.S. On Tamla #54230 and in the UK on Tamla Motown # 916.
  24. Here's a few more for the list - Marvin & Tammi - "This Poor Heart Of Mine" from "Easy"- revamped version of The Marvelettes' "Only Your Love Can Save Me" 4 Tops - "Can't Seem To Get You Out Of My Mind" from "Yesterday's Dreams" Miracles- "It's A Good Feeling" ("Make It Happen") Supremes "Together We Can Make Such Sweet Music" ("New Ways But Love Stays")
  25. There's also an unreleased version of "The Bells" by Bobby Taylor over the rhythm track of "Baby I'm For Real" that made me feel like I was in a parallel universe the first time I heard it.
