  1. Here's a picture of the Shelley Fisher label variation. I do know my colors but this one is kind of hard to tell- could be grey, very light green or a dirty white label.
  2. I hate to muddy the water on the Detroit/ Chicago debate but in an interview with Jo Armstead she specifically mentions all the Garland Green tracks being cut in Detroit (Soul Survivor # 5) . Also, in the liner notes to "The Very Best Of Garland Green" on Kent, the tracks "Girl I Love You" and "It Rained...." are also named as Detroit tracks.
  3. You'd have to ask e-bay about that one. The seller probably complained and they removed it to keep him happy.
  4. My copy has almost the same info in the dead wax- ARP UR4M--1788-1-B 334M09 G-LO-U -334M09 X
  5. I don't think e-bay will ever change. I bought a buy it now about a month ago. The next day I received a refund from the seller saying the price was "due to an error in his data base". I contacted e-bay who told me they can't force anyone to sell something but that I should leave negative feedback for the seller. I did and the next day they removed the negative feedback .
  6. The CD versions of the two songs are longer versions than the 45's.
  7. No need to apologize. Thanks for posting !
  8. If you don't end up finding a 45, it's available on 2 CD's- "This Is Northern Soul Volume 1" on Debutante and on "You've Got To Earn It" by the Temptations on the U.S. "Lost And Found " reissues from the late 90's. On the "You've Got To Earn It " CD, the sound is much cleaner sounding.
  9. I'm almost 99.99 % sure that's a boot. Most Diamond promos look like the regular issues with the "promotional copy not for sale" on them. Brown and Koppel mention a white label promo with green lettering as a bootleg
  10. if he did his homework.... why would he start it at $999.99 and then take $300 ? Did anyone ever pay $300 for this ? Such a friendly guy too- very customer service oriented !
  11. You can add "Say Something Nice To Me" by Bobby Kline to the list.
  12. He probably had a few Geraldine Hunts in his trunk too! There's another Flash McKinley single on Flute- "Jealous Girl (Guy) " and "Another Time".
  13. The first two songs on the acetate "I'll Rescue You" and "Millie" were released on Bombay. There's no release # on the label. Guess United wasn't carrying the label at that time.
  14. The original U.S. release is Brunswick #55300. Shouldn't be too hard to find a copy .
  15. In the spring, someone on e-bay kept listing "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window" by Patti Page as "Northern Soul" .
  16. The CD is called "Best Of The Sapphires" (NEM CD 676) from 1994 .
  17. that no one notices you spelled subpoena wrong !
  18. Here's a pic of Mr. Jones If you click on the picture, you'll get a better view of E. Rodney .
  19. This is really just Rodney talking over the instrumental track of Bobby Treetop's "Wait Til I Get To Know Ya" which is why the tracks were from N.Y.C.
  20. This really is sad! All those incredible productions on Okeh, Brunswick, Dakar, Bashie ...
  21. I can't comment on the commercial logic of this release but, those Radio Station comp. albums were around a lot in the 60's /70's. I've got two from WVON in Chicago and both of the liner notes say that the proceeds from the album sales were going to "distribute Christmas baskets to Chicago's poor". . So they might have been done as fund raisers for charities or just as a promotion for the radio stations.
  22. Bob Babbit's obit was in the Chicago Tribune newspaper today and it said he did the bass line on "Tears Of A Clown" In Terry Wilson's "Tamla Motown", he credits Jamerson with the bass line. The controversy continues .....
  23. According to the liner notes of the "Groovin' At The Go Go" CD (Outtasight) it is the United Four.
  24. If you play the two back to back, I don't know how you could miss the similiarities. There's an interview in There's That Beat (#8) with Jerry Ross who co -wrote "The 81" with Kenny Gamble. He tells how he went to a record hop and saw everyone doing a new dance to "In My Lonely Room"- he asked the kids the name of it- found out it was called "The 81" . He wrote the song the next day with Kenny Gamble and admits to basing it on "In My Lonely Room".
  25. It looks like a boot- Harthon release #'s were in the 100's. This might be a 70's release like the Body Motions "Puttin' You On" / "False Alarm" which has release # of 103074 .
