  1. About 7-8 years ago, walked into a thrift store and found about 500 45's - all were minty and sleeved which was nice. Ended up buying about 40-50. In that bunch were Almeta Latimore- "These Memories", Otis Jackson- "Beggin' For A Broken Heart" and last but not least Bobby Kline- "Say Something Nice To Me". Forgot to mention the most important thing- the price- 45's were 3 for 25 cents !
  2. On my grey label/black vinyl copy , the only info in the dead wax is : ZTSC 107683 for "Open......." and ZTSC 107682 for "Our Love..." There is something scratched out to the left next to the info.
  3. Jessica James and the Outlaws- "We'll Be Making Out" ???
  4. Glad to hear this was a bootleg! Atlantic was never big on releasing colored vinyl 45's. Even in the 50's when lots of R & B companies put some of their releases on colored vinyl, Atlantic stuck to black vinyl or styrene. In the 60's someone at a pressing plant made a few colored vinyl copies of Atlantic releases for themselves. So why would Atlantic press up yellow vinyl copies of a record( that didn't look like it was going to be a hit ) when they always stuck to black vinyl or styrene? There are a few Atlantic releases on colored vinyl towards the end of the 70's but not before then. If I'm wrong- please feel free to correct me.
  5. I live in the States and I also have a grey "vinyl" copy of "Open..." . There's also a cut out hole in the label. I'm guessing that when the record became popular, that vinyl copies were pressed.
  6. Sad to hear this- the Andantes backup work added so much to whatever Motown track they were used on.
  7. That's the one !!
  8. There's also "(Just A Little) Faith And Understanding by the Magicians. Isn't there a third version by a female vocal group? Sorry for the double post !
  9. There's also "(Just A Litttle) Faith And Understanding" by the Magicians. Isn't there another version by a female vocal group?
  10. There's a story (can't remember which book I read it in) that a distributor bought a large amount of overstock from a label for 5 cents a record. The distributor then took those 5 cent records and returned them to the label for full credit. That's why labels had holes drilled, stamped N /R or put gold paint on the label- to identify the discounted records.
  11. Tammi's version wasn't on a U.S. single or on her "Irresistible" album. It is on the Hip-O CD "Come On And See Me- The Complete Solo Collection" or is available on "A Cellar Full Of Motown- Volume Two". Carolyn's version is on Motown #1070- "My Heart"/ "When Someone's Good To You".
  12. By the time Jackie Wilson released "Am I The Man", Bob Hamilton was sharing songwriting credits with Tom King.
  13. You might want to go a bit higher. Checked popsike and collector's frenzy . Came up with these 2 prices- In 2011, a mint minus promo went for 139USD In 2013, a very good + copy went for 161 USD I don't know what condition your copy is in or the exact rate exchange right now.
  14. Let's not forget Al Kent was also a writer under the name Al Hamilton.
  15. "Call Me" should be the same version on Carrie and Jameco- when the record became popular in New York, the record was leased to Jameco.
  16. The 1st Soul single I bought was Marvin Gaye's "Ain't That Peculiar" as an almost new release. It was a cut out in a plastic bag-" 39 cents or 3 for $1.00". Don't have the copy but that song is still one of all time favorites.
  17. Thanks for posting- reallly liked the "Back Street" and "... Happening".
  18. I saw that episode of "American Pickers"- the guy said he had over 250,000 records and then one of the pickers decided they didn't want to waste their day when there were other things to look at. Oh..... to have had a chance to look at that collection !!!
  19. Obviously- "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown". Any of the other DVDs from Motown ( in the U.S.) are also worth watching- "The Supremes", "The Four Tops", "The Temptations", "The Miracles " , "Marvin Gaye" and "Motown- The DVD" all have great mostly television performances from the artists. "The T.A.M.I Show" is mostly made up of British Invasion groups but... there's some great live work from Chuck Berry, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, The Miracles, Marvin Gaye, and has the Blossoms backing up the performers.
  20. Tangerine Records was started in 1962 and with ABC it was pretty much hit or miss with the Tangerine logo. I looked at quite a few 45's on e-bay- never did see one with the Tangerine logo on the ABC-Paramount releases, saw some before and after "....Doctor" that had the logo while there were just as many that didn't. Even checked a few of the later ABC in the box logo and some had the TRC on them some didn't.
  21. The ABC release has the release # as #10865 and underneath has AMP 45-TRC-257A and even has a small TRC logo next to the ABC Records logo. On your copy, the printer must have switched the release info around.
  22. Not sure what prices these bring in the U.K. but I know these would all be under 30 pounds- Edwin Starr- "I Have Faith In You"/ "S.O.S" - Ric Tic Ace Spectrum- "Don't Send Nobody Else "- Atlantic Four Tops- "Ask The Lonely"/ "Where Did You Go" Motown Brenda Holloway- "When I'm Gone" Tamla Elgins- "Heaven Must Have Sent You" - V.I.P. Spinners- "I'll Always Love You" Motown J.J. Barnes- "Real Humdinger" Ric Tic Contours- "Just A Little Misunderstanding" Gordy Jo Armstead- "I Feel An Urge Coming On" Giant Parliaments- "Don't Be Sore At Me" Revilot Artistics- "I'm Gonna Miss You" Brunswick Platters- "With This Ring" or "Washed Ashore" Musicor O'Jays- "I Dig Your Act"- Bell Kim Weston- "Helpless"- Gordy
  23. Didn't DCP have another tv show during the mid 60's that was called "Where The Action Is"(?) Maybe Darrell appeared on that show and it got confused with "Bandstand" ???
  24. The original should have a machine stamped H matrix . The boots have a shiny label and no H stamp.
