  1. I like both versions but Bernie has a definite edge over Gene. Just out of curiosity - aren't the first two lines- "First we meet and then we kiss, then we find love is bliss ..." ?
  2. I've seen quite a few of these while digging for 45's- not rare. It's also listed on Soulful Kinda Music's web site There's a copy on e-bay right now if anyone is interested.
  3. You can also look on these two web sites- www.collectorsfrenzy.com or www.popsike.com
  4. That looks like a reissue from 1971.
  5. There must have been a lot of confusion with the two Lou Johnsons. I remember radio deejays introducing him (the Big Top Lou) as the "singing baseball player".
  6. I've got the "My Dear Beloved" variation - matrix info is 60709 2, what looks like an XY and an I for this side. The "Do You Believe It" side has 60710 2, an XY (?) and an I.
  7. Lou Johnson was born in Brooklyn in 1941.
  8. All of these can go on your CD- 1) Joey Heatherton- "When You Call Me Baby" 2) Nancy Ames- "I Don't Want To Talk About It" 3) Evie Sands- "Picture Me Gone" 4) R. Dean Taylor- "There's A Ghost In My House" 5) Frankie Valli / Four Seasons "You're Ready Now" , "The Night" etc. 6) Beverly Ann- "You've Got Your Mind On Other Things" 7) Holly St. James- "That's Not Love" 8) April Stevens- "Wanting You" 9) Michael and Raymond- "A Man Without A Woman" 10) Spiral Starecase- "More Today Than Yesterday"
  9. This was covered awhile back in a topic called "Unfathomable Lyrics"- the "Gonna Be A Big Thing" lyrics are near the bottom of the first page of the thread.
  10. R.I.P. Johnny ! I've always liked "Good Time" on Jomada.
  11. The rumor that the Strangeloves were from Australia was started by their record company. According to the "I Want Candy" album liner notes, the group "hails from the backlands of Australia, a wild and uncivilized area....". The album version of "Night Times" is a bit longer than the 45 version- coming in at 3:05 ,the 45 runs 2:29.
  12. It depends on how the seller ships it. If he sends it in an envelope with minimal packing - I could see it being around $6.50- $7.00. If he sends it in a small box with extra packing- I could see the shipping price going up to around $13 - $14 USD. Both prices are for USPS First Class International, if he used USPS Priority, it could be a lot more.
  13. Here's what the Canadian copy looks like. This one isn't for sale though.
  14. My copy has 60709 2 and an XY in the dead wax. This is the "My Dear Beloved" variation.
  15. The delta # would go to a record pressed in either February or March of 1976,
  16. According to Dave Moore's book - "The Philly Sound" , the group was made up of lead vocalist John Kelley, John Grant, Henry Colclugh. and two names well known to Northern Soul fans- Billy Jackson and Herb Johnson. There is no mention of the Trent Town release so that was probably a different group.
  17. You can also use one of these for your Dearborn 45's -
  18. Motown/ Gordy/ Tamla/ Soul/ V.I.P. etc. Atlantic/ Atco Chess/ Checker/ Cadet / Argo
  19. Thanks for posting ! Never saw this before .
  20. Here's a few more ...
  21. Very sad to hear! R.I.P. Leon .
