    I would almost swear the "It May Be Winter Outside" clip is from U.S. tv. Seem to remember seeing her on either "American Bandstand" or its spinoff "Where The Action Is" . Not sure if that video is from either show or a different one from the U.S.

    Sad to hear this- Jerry was involved with so many great songs ! As a producer- Sapphires- Gotta Have Your Love" and "Slow Fizz", Jay and the Techniques' "Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie", Fathers Angels- "Bok To Bach", Virgil Henry - "You Ain't Saying Nothing New" . As a writer- Dee Dee Warwick (among many others) "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" and "When Love Slips Away". R.I.P.

    Leroy is the lead on Convertion- "Let's Do It" and the Fantastic Aleems- "Hooked On Your Love". He also does some of the leads on the Peter Jacques Band "Fire Night Dance " album but his vocals are so sped up, it's hard to recognize him.

    Here's two more- neither are 100% Soul books but there's some interesting info in both- John Collis- "The Story of Chess Records" Herb Kent / Davis Smallwood - "The Cool Gent" - Herb was the legendary Chicago dj who broadcast from 1944 until he passed away last year.

    I like both versions but Bernie has a definite edge over Gene. Just out of curiosity - aren't the first two lines- "First we meet and then we kiss, then we find love is bliss ..." ?

    I've seen quite a few of these while digging for 45's- not rare. It's also listed on Soulful Kinda Music's web site There's a copy on e-bay right now if anyone is interested.

    There must have been a lot of confusion with the two Lou Johnsons. I remember radio deejays introducing him (the Big Top Lou) as the "singing baseball player".

    I've got the "My Dear Beloved" variation - matrix info is 60709 2, what looks like an XY and an I for this side. The "Do You Believe It" side has 60710 2, an XY (?) and an I.

    Lou Johnson was born in Brooklyn in 1941.

    The rumor that the Strangeloves were from Australia was started by their record company. According to the "I Want Candy" album liner notes, the group "hails from the backlands of Australia, a wild and uncivilized area....". The album version of "Night Times" is a bit longer than the 45 version- coming in at 3:05 ,the 45 runs 2:29.

    It depends on how the seller ships it. If he sends it in an envelope with minimal packing - I could see it being around $6.50- $7.00. If he sends it in a small box with extra packing- I could see the shipping price going up to around $13 - $14 USD. Both prices are for USPS First Class International, if he used USPS Priority, it could be a lot more.

    According to Dave Moore's book - "The Philly Sound" , the group was made up of lead vocalist John Kelley, John Grant, Henry Colclugh. and two names well known to Northern Soul fans- Billy Jackson and Herb Johnson. There is no mention of the Trent Town release so that was probably a different group.
