  1. Just looked at the May 13, 1967 issue of RW- both Jimmy Mack "My World Is On Fire" and the Younghearts "Little Togetherness" received Four Star reviews !! Who would have thought that ?
  2. Where is this "typo" ???? Also- I don't know why you would think this was a photocopied label. If you look at the logo on the grey styrene copy , The Revilot is lower and the line underneath the logo is at a different angle. If this was photocopied wouldn't it look exactly the same ?
  3. The reason I thought something was wrong with "Somebody..." was because the ZTSC info has the scratched matrix instead of the usual ZTSC stamped matrix.
  4. Here's a picture of my vinyl copy of "Open..." next to a styrene press of "Somebody (Somewhere Needs You)" . The color of the label is lighter on "Open..." and the line underneath Revilot is higher up and at more of a slant. I just noticed my styrene copy of "Somebody..." also has the scratched in matrix info. Now I'm really confused.....
  5. There was a SS topic about this a few years back- "Darrell Banks Our Love.... Grey issue or DJ". I live in the States and have two vinyl copies (both cutouts ) of "Open The Door..." one grey and one pink. I always thought they were legit. I would say at least 90% of the "Open... " copies that I've seen were styrene.
  6. A vg++ promo sold for $510 (USD) in Oct. of 2017 An issue in vg+/ Vg++ sold for $464 in 2015.
  7. Just about every Staple Singers hit from "Heavy Makes You Happy" to "City In the Sky" was made in Muscle Shoals.
  8. ** Arthur Conley- "Sweet Soul Music" sounds like Sam Cooke's "Yeah Man" ** Christine Cooper- "Heartaches Away" has a strong Supremes feel - lots of "Back In My Arms Again" ** Tina Britt's "The Real Thing" obviously influenced by the Vandellas' "Heatwave" ** Richie Adams "I Can't Escape From You" influenced by Marvin's "Ain't That Peculiar" ** not sure if these are "common features" or "coincidences"
  9. Bobby and Sylvia- "You Broke My Heart (So I Broke Your Jaw)"
  10. Ronny produced the "Johnnie ..." side
  11. Lee Dorsey- "Get Out Of My Life Woman"
  12. The Ambassadors "Too Much Of A Good Thing" and Danny Monday "Baby Without You" The Temptones- "Girl I Love You" and The Ringleaders "Baby What Has Happened To Our Love" Just noticed Velvet and The Quads have the same writers and producers so I think they just changed the lyrics.
  13. Velvet's "Bet You If You Ask Around" sounds an awful lot like the Quadrophonics' "Betcha If You Check It Out".
  14. Ray Charles- "Hit The Road Jack" Marie Knight- "That's No Way To Treat A Girl" Betty Wright- "Where Is The Love" Teddy Pendergrass- "I Don"t Love You Anymore"
  15. From the play/ movie "Don'[t Play Us Cheap" - Mrs. Robinson (Jo Armstead)- "You Cut Up The Clothes (In The Closet Of My Dreams) "
  16. The track you're talking about is "I'll Let Him Know I Love Him".
  17. Here's a few to get started- all of them much better than "Torn Between Two Lovers" Etta James- "Tell Mama", "I'd Rather Go Blind", "Security", "Almost Persuaded" Clarence Carter- "Slip Away", "Too Weak To Fight" etc. - I'm sure there's more Aretha Franklin- "I Never Loved A Man", "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man" Wilson Pickett- "Land Of 1000 Dances", "Mustang Sally", "Funky Broadway", "Don't Knock My Love"
  18. Out of the unreleased tracks, I like "Tears Left Over" and "I Ain't Got The Love". You can go on Amazon- punch in the CD info and listen to 30 second clips of each song. It might take a few clicks to hear since it defaults to the buy the mp3 page.
  19. The CD is called "This Is The Story- The 70's Albums 70-73"- it came out over 10 years ago and is out of print but available as an mp3.
  20. In the Complete Motown Singles- 1964, they write about Ivy Jo Hunter dragging the chains across the floor for "Dancing In the Street". The chains are used again for "Nowhere..." and they were said to be Ivy Jo's idea.
  21. Although it was touched on- I wanted to make mention of the great work from the Young Professionals team which was for the most part Taylor, Hurtt and Bell (sometimes Bunny Sigler shows up in the credits) who are responsible for all of these - Jackie Moore- "Both Ends Against The Middle", "Sweet Charlie Babe" Bettye Swann- "Kiss My Love Goodbye", "When The Game Is Played On You" Vivian Reed - "Save Your Love For Me" Blue Magic - "Sideshow" etc. Clyde Brown- "You Called Me Back"
  22. Here's a few more for the list- A Brother's Guiding Light- "Getting Together" - Mercury (early Montana production) Thom Bell's work with New York City on Chelsea. The Temprees 3 album ( We Produce) has tracks cut at Future Gold Studios in Philly and features such Philly names as Ron Baker, Earl Young, Bobby Eli and Larry Washington
  23. According to Collector's Frenzy- on February 5th someone paid $608.78 for a vg+ copy (regular issue) for Gloria Jones "Tainted Love" . A bit on the high side- isn't it ?????
  24. I'll be honest with you- I don't know anything about the Terrace group. I'm sure someone on SS can give you the info. Sorry I couldn't help you out.
