  1. Out of the unreleased tracks, I like "Tears Left Over" and "I Ain't Got The Love". You can go on Amazon- punch in the CD info and listen to 30 second clips of each song. It might take a few clicks to hear since it defaults to the buy the mp3 page.
  2. The CD is called "This Is The Story- The 70's Albums 70-73"- it came out over 10 years ago and is out of print but available as an mp3.
  3. In the Complete Motown Singles- 1964, they write about Ivy Jo Hunter dragging the chains across the floor for "Dancing In the Street". The chains are used again for "Nowhere..." and they were said to be Ivy Jo's idea.
  4. Although it was touched on- I wanted to make mention of the great work from the Young Professionals team which was for the most part Taylor, Hurtt and Bell (sometimes Bunny Sigler shows up in the credits) who are responsible for all of these - Jackie Moore- "Both Ends Against The Middle", "Sweet Charlie Babe" Bettye Swann- "Kiss My Love Goodbye", "When The Game Is Played On You" Vivian Reed - "Save Your Love For Me" Blue Magic - "Sideshow" etc. Clyde Brown- "You Called Me Back"
  5. Here's a few more for the list- A Brother's Guiding Light- "Getting Together" - Mercury (early Montana production) Thom Bell's work with New York City on Chelsea. The Temprees 3 album ( We Produce) has tracks cut at Future Gold Studios in Philly and features such Philly names as Ron Baker, Earl Young, Bobby Eli and Larry Washington
  6. According to Collector's Frenzy- on February 5th someone paid $608.78 for a vg+ copy (regular issue) for Gloria Jones "Tainted Love" . A bit on the high side- isn't it ?????
  7. I'll be honest with you- I don't know anything about the Terrace group. I'm sure someone on SS can give you the info. Sorry I couldn't help you out.
  8. Gamble and Huff did an interview with Record World in 1973- one of the questions asked was "Have you signed any new groups?". They said they were thinking of signing Darlene Love (which they did and then Phil Spector bough out her contract), mentioned the Three Degrees and then said "We just signed Freddie Scott". (????) Does anyone know anything about this- were any tracks cut etc. or why this didn't work out? This would have been a great combination if you listen how well they worked together on "You Got What I Need".
  9. This Sequins picture is of the Chicago group who recorded for Goldstar and Crajon and Fantasy. There's also a different Sequins on Renfro, Detroit Sound and even more groups on A &M and Ascot.
  10. And then there's Jerry Butler who worked with Gamble and Huff in the 60's, signed to Motown in the mid 70's, and was back on Philly Int'l by the late 70's .
  11. I know the name of the group is the Atlanta Disco Band and that the album was recorded in Atlanta but........ the songs were remixed at Sigma Sound, Earl Young wrote and did some arrangements and the whole album sounds and feels like a Philly album. They do a decent version of "Bad Luck" and there's the much better "Buckhead".
  12. The first Richie Family ( and there were a lot of them) was actually the Sweethearts of Sigma ( Barbara Ingram, Carla Benson, Yvette Benton). When they didn't want to tour to promote "Brazil", the producer formed a new group made up of Cassandra Wooten, Gwen Oliver (from Honey and the Bees) and another singer. Norman Harris also produced 2 albums for Eddie Kendricks on Tamla- "He's A Friend" and "Goin' Up In Smoke". Elton John worked with Thom Bell on the "Thom Bell Sessions" EP.
  13. Shorty Long- "Function At The Junction" Sandpebbles- "Forget It" or "If You Didn't Hear Me The First Time" Dyke and the Blazers- "Funky Broadway" Wilson Pickett- "I'm A Midnight Mover"
  14. Someone on you tube wanted to be cute and covered up the track as Jesse Davis. The real artist and song is "Look, Hear, Girl" by Jim Nabbie on R.P.I.
  15. Okay- message received.
  16. Here's a great song that sounds just like a Sam and Dave record .
  17. Very sad to hear this. Taking over from David Ruffin was not an easy task but, Dennis did it and kept the group alive and well for years. Another great voice gone !!
  18. Most of what I would have picked are already listed. I think these deserve a mention- 1) Contours- "Just A Little Misunderstanding" 2) Isley Brothers- "This Old Heart Of Mine" 3) Kim Weston- "Take Me In Your Arms" 4) Martha & the Vandellas- "Dancing In The Street" 5) Marvelettes- "I'll Keep Holding On "
  19. I don't think it was a different take- I believe Manship pointed out that the U.K. 45 had a different flip side ( "When You Are Who You Are" ) which he though was better than the U.S. 45 that has "Save The Children" as the B side.
  20. If ABC released its 45's in order, Eddie Bishop was released right around the same time as Ray Charles' "Let's Go Get Stoned"- so early/mid 66 would be a good guess.
