  1. All vocoder all the time on this song from 1977.
  2. The Italian group Kano used the vocoder extensively on this song.
  3. The Brother Johnson used some vocoder near the middle of the song on this...
  4. A 45 of "Your Song" in ex condition sold for $41 about a month ago.
  5. Think I'd go for a Melvin Davis "Find A Quiet Place (And Be Lonely)" or Lenny Curtis "Nothing Can Help You Now". Then again I could pick Yvonne Vernee "Just Like You Did Me" or .........
  6. The song was written by Joe McCoy in 1941 for Lil Green and covered by Peggy Lee, Julie London, Mark Murphy etc.
  7. Not 100% sure but it sure sounds like there's a vocoder on "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus from their 1974 album "Rags To Rufus".
  8. Little Herman sounds like Little Helen (at least to me) on "Gotta Keep On Walking" and "One Out Of A Hundred". The lead singer of Spiral Starecase has a voice that could be either male or female on "More Today Than Yesterday".
  9. There's an article in the January 8, 1966 issue of Record World on page 3- "Tamla/ Motown Sets Major Expansion for 1966". In the article it mentions Motown "establishing new artists such as Tammi Terrell, The Monitors and Frank Wilson". It makes you wonder if "DILY(IID)" was still being considered for release then.
  10. The first time I heard "Forget It" by the Sandpebbles (later C & the Shells) I thought the lead singer was a man.
  11. There were two recent sales according to Collector's Frenzy- 1) In 2015, one in vg/ vg+ with light scuffs that went for $4673 USD. 2) In 2016, one that appeared to be in vg/vg+ but had "terrible hiss" after the first 10/15 seconds went for $863 USD.
  12. I've heard Lester was known for dancing in local clubs and on tv (not sure about the car part of the story though). Major Lance got his break as a featured dancer on Jim Lounsbury's "Time For Teens" and then got a deal with Mercury Records. I think the Major was well aware of the Northern Soul scene though.
  13. Joe Pesci also made this album for Brunswick ---
  14. Nancy Ames was a regular on the American version of "That Was The Week That Was" from 1964-1965.
  15. Toni Basil was a featured dancer on another American television show "Shindig".
  16. Lada Edmund Jr. was a featured dancer on the tv show "Hullabaloo" before cutting "The Larue".
  17. The Exits were Jimmy("Cigarette Ashes") Conwell, Godoy Colbert, Esko Wallace, Lous (Louis? ) Hendricks and Charles Colbert .
  18. Just wanted to thank everyone for their help with the Debutantes ! While scrolling through Record World, found March 26, 1966 to be one of the best weeks for Soul releases. All of these received 4 stars ( the highest rating) Lorraine Chandler "What Can I Do", The Reflections "Like Adam and Eve", Tammy Wayne "Have A Good Time", Tony Hestor "Just Can't Leave You" and the Olympics "Mine Exclusively".
  19. Not 100% sure but I think the styrene presses all would be #1's- where the writing starts under the colored lines. It seems like all the vinyl copies had more info on the label and had the writing through the colored lines. (#2, #3) .
  20. I just checked the definition of typo in the dictionary and it says "an error (as of spelling) in typed or typeset material" Don't think it has anything to do with different pressing plants changing the type of font used.
  21. Don't know what country its from, but this 45 would look good in the sleeve
  22. Found 2 articles that should be of interest. The March 12th issue has an article on One-Derful Recordson page 46. The April 16th issue has "The Golden World Story" on page 21. This article mentions a new group they just signed- The Debutantes (??). At first I thought they meant the Debonaires but that group had been with the label for awhile. Does anyone know anything about the Debutantes on Golden World?
