TINA BRITT - THE REAL THING
I almost sure the first version of "The Real Thing" was by Tina Britt. If you go by Billboard, the Tina Britt version is mentioned in April, the Betty Everett version in May and the Chiffons (as the flip of "Nobody Knows...." isn't mentioned until June.

TINA BRITT - THE REAL THING
According to the liner notes of "The Real Thing- The Songs of Ashford, Simpson and Armstead", "The Real Thing" is a reworking of this earlier ASA song-

Miracles - If your mother....Label variant ?
It probably was repressed for "Way Over There" which wasn't one of the Miracles biggest hits but did make it to #94 on the Billboard Pop charts. I've read it was a big hit in many regional markets but never really took off nationally.

DJ Re-service on record label meaning?
I'm not 100% sure but... the most likely explanation is that they released the record the 1st time around and nothing happened. Maybe a dj started playing later and it became a hit so they re-serviced the record . It could also be they decided to put out a different mix or a longer version of the song. It was a way to differentiate this new version from the original release. Here's the original shorter version without the harmonica solo.

European 60's soul
Don't worry about it- I didn't know about the George Benson version. We're all here to learn something. First released version was Young Holt Unlimited's version of "Soulful Strut". Then came Barbara Acklin's version "Am I The Same Girl". The song was covered by Dusty Springfield and Swing Out Sister - I'm sure other versions exist.

Jeff Perry - Love..
Please disregard the earlier post- I've seen promo copies of both the 2149 and 2172 mixes on both black and blue Arista label promos. Both are legit.

Donny Hathaway Don't Turn away from love .
John Manship also has a video on you tube and calls "Don't Turn Away" an unreleased track. The video showing the Atco label used this King Curtis 45 for their mock up version -
-
Jeff Perry - Love..
The 45 was released with 2 different mixes- the black logo demo is the 2149 mix, the demo with blue logo is the 2172 mix

Favorite two-step tracks/artists?
I guess every scene has it's share of records that don't quite fit the mold. This is a Classic Chicago Steppers track -

Nolan porter- if only I could be sure
Producer Gabriel Mekler had already done "Groovin' ... " with Frederick the II in 1971. He probably recycled the track or it could even be the same song- the vocals are very similar.

The Triumphs - The Line up ? Okeh
This is a different group most likely related to this Memphis group-

Gladys Knight Motown 45 ?????
The flip side is "Cloud Nine" which would be the same as the U.S. Soul label release.
-
Gladys Knight Motown 45 ?????
I spotted this on e-bay- it appears to be a foreign pressing using the Soul release # on a Motown label 45. The logo looks a little off and I've never seen a ".... Motown Record Corp. , Michigan " on a label.(bottom right edge). Does anyone know what country released this ???

Male Voices
Anthony could never catch a break- his biggest U.S. hit was "Block Party" which was an instrumental version of his Salsoul 12" "I Can't Turn You Loose" .
