  1. I don't know how many of you are stamp collectors but, I thought this could be of general interest. On April 2, the U.S. Post Office will be releasing a special commemorative Marvin Gaye stamp. Here's a single one and a book (16 stamps) made to look like a picture sleeve. More info on www.usps.com, pick postal store and stamps for more details .
  2. They were making Stereo 45's in the late 50's/ early 60's. The concept never caught on and did become more widespread in the late 60's -
  3. Almost 100% sure it was U.S. Laurie. U.K. Stateside started in 1962, the Laurie sleeve below is from the late 50"s -
  4. Looks like a bootleg- the release # 1522 is the same , but the type face etc. is off -
  5. The Mala sleeve you're asking about was used on Mala releases until 1964. The correct sleeve for Tobi Legend would be this one -
  6. Also co-wrote this -
  7. Here's a picture of the Australian Sue sleeve -
  8. Great interview- Thanks for posting this ! !
  9. If anyone is still looking for a copy of the Ernest Ernie re-press, it looks like Dusty Grooves has some in stock.
  10. According to a 2008 article in the Washington Post, ("48 Years Later, A Singer Finally In Demand") Lorraine Rudolph and Lorri Rudolph are the same person .
  11. Not sure which came 1st but, the Dot 45 only has one writer but lists the artist as Joe Simon and Eugene Blacknell's Band.
  12. It will be until the extremely limited third press comes out with its extremely limited edition special birth sleeve.
  13. There is also some kind of connection with Nicolet Music and the Penny and Nickel labels which were owned by Chicago dj Richard Pegue -
  14. "Every where I go, I tell ya, people stop and stare, They point me out and say look at that poor fool there" "It Rained Forty Days And Nights"
  15. So many lines to choose from in this ! -
  16. As you've probably figured out from the Soulful Detroit forum, Calvin Williams = Lloyd Williams. After his solo career, he was a member of the Undisputed Truth during their Whitfield Records stint. That's him in the middle with his arms stretched out -
  17. Just ordered the 45 from Dusty Grooves- they took the order and then I got an e-mail an hour later saying the 45 was out of stock ??
  18. You're right - I stand corrected.
  19. Release # goes to a 45. The 12" has a different # -
  20. His "Impossible" is on Velvet Hammer's album -
  21. You're both talking about the same thing! Both of you agree it was recorded in January of 1967( and published by Motown in February, 1967). You both agree it was released in 2003, the 2006 is part of the release # - 981 200 6 .
  22. Here's a picture of Karl -
  23. The book "Tamla Motown" gives a slightly different explanation. TMG 860 was originally scheduled to be "Reachin" For Something I Can't Have" / "I Need Someone" from TMG #639. The pressing plant used the flip side from #639 "My Baby Must Be A Magician" instead. Supposedly Tamla/ Motown destroyed all copies except for a few. In the end , #860 was released as "Reaching For..."/ "Here I Am Baby".
  24. I believe he is referring to Jesse and the James Boys not Jesse Thomas. If you look in the 1st post, the Gold label International Hits calls the group the Heatwaves. But on the orange label, the group is known as the Jesse and the James Boys which is the same name on the Buddah 45.
  25. It's most likely this Jesse James -
