According to Ollie McLaughlin's liner notes to "Detroit Gold Vol. 2", he describes the Gambrells as "a Detroit high school
group" that he signed after they did the back up vocals to Deon Jackson's "Love Makes The World Go Round" in one take.
No photos or group member names were in the notes.
Three records that do absolutely nothing for me are -
1) the previously mentioned Cajun Hart
2) Judy Street- "What"
3) Dobie Gray- "Out On The Floor"
I don't hate them, don't think they are bad records, I just don't get anything out of them.
I believe it's also what week you decided to pick from the 60's- Here's 4 quality "Northern" releases from the week of 3/26/66 -
The Reflections, Tammy Wayne, Lorraine Chandler and Tony Hestor -
You are correct about the instrumental version which is on the B side of the 45 and the 12". I didn't see the instrumental on you tube
so just posted the vocal version.
I just looked at the booklet that came with "The Northern Soul Of Dore- Rare Masters Volumes 1 & 2" - Night Owl and there is a pic
of another one of the test pressings with slightly different info. No mention of what's on the flip -
