  1. Here's the Relic Lu Pine comp- over 10 for sale on Discogs -
  2. Discogs has the above mentioned list, the Johnny Woodson and this 45 - Cashbox wrote about the flip side of this 45 in an August, 1960 issue.
  3. It looks like Spry was briefly reactivated for a few releases in '60 / '61 . There's Class Music again -
  4. After skimming through many of the early releases, I didn't see any Class Music but did see a lot of this publisher -
  5. The Cenco label was around a few years before the Ike and Tina album. Here's some info from Cashbox in 1962 and a release from around that time. While there is no mention of Spry Record Corp., It does appear to be the same label .
  6. According to Amazon, Lamont's book is now pushed back and has a November 26th release date.
  7. I like the description for the Champion label - "a pop-r&b line in the Tamla/ Motown groove"
  8. The Don't Forget The Motor City web site and the liner notes to "Brenda Holloway - The Motown Anthology" show the writer of "Suddenly" to be SID Talmadge.
  9. There was a Malcolm Talmadge (Sid's son?) who also worked at Record Merchandising Co.
  10. Chris Clark was recommended to the Motown Detroit offices by Hal Davis in 1963 . She worked various office jobs (receptionist etc.) for a few years before cutting her first single. While she may not have worked with the West Coast writers/ producers there is a definite West Coast connection. It is believed that Connie Clark and Chris Clark are not the same person.
  11. U.S. sheet music -
  12. Levi with some help from the Vandellas -
  13. Great Philly sound that never got a U.S. 45 release -
  14. One more addition- Carol and Gerri- "....Heartache Looks Good" / "How Can I ..." - 452 pounds
  15. Mary's scheduled followup to "My Guy" was Brenda Holloway's "When I'm Gone" which was withdrawn from release. There are a couple of other tracks (circa 1964) that Smokey wrote that sound like they were written with Mary in mind. Kim Weston's "Looking For The Right Guy" and Carolyn Crawford's "Until You Came Along" would have worked perfectly with Mary.
  16. The flip side of "Soul Over Easy" is a cover of Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed so that 45 is sometime after 1970.
  17. There are so many great songs to pick from ! Here's a good place to start -
  18. Not sure if JJ is handling the vocals, the label was said to have been owned by James Thorpe and J.J. Barnes
