  8. Sad to hear this! Whether she was Sandy Wynns, a member of the Honey Cone, or Edna Wright, she always could be counted on for great vocals. R.I.P Edna !
  9. How would you explain this 1968 release? Shouldn't it have been Groovesville Music ?
  10. There must have been problems with Jan's contract. The last sentence in this article (Cashbox Dec. 1963) makes it sound like Jan was no longer a Chess artist -
  11. It looks like as long as the release wasn't on Chess, Jan could work with Curtis -
  12. My copy is almost the same except on the "My Heart's Not In It Anymore" side , I have the 77003-R in big letters and then again in much smaller letters.
  13. According the book "Groovesville USA", George McGregor used United Sound Studios for his work with Tobi Lark.
  14. I don't think you'll have too much luck with this one. Not sure what Laurie was thinking releasing a record by the Opals when there was another female group on Okeh already using the same name. The single reached hitbound or pick hit status on a few stations and then fell off the charts. I have a feeling Laurie pulled the record off the market. There is a cover version by Scarlet on French Polydor-
  15. This Little Tommy is Tyrone Thomas -
  16. If you go by the date on this ad, it appears the Kent 45 was first and the Watts record came out about a year later -
  17. "I've Been Taken For A Ride" was the "Teen Pick" for the week of 12/28/67 on St. Louis's KATZ -
  18. Here's another Major Lance album popping up right behind the mayor - lb
  19. I just kept scrolling down and read the whole article .
  20. It's hard to say what caused the problem- it could have been an error at the pressing plant, a record getting pulled from release and the company using the same # again or human error from someone at the record company. Here's another example for the list -
  21. Philles did it another time but, they put an X after the release # -
  22. Frankie and the group hit the Top 20 on one of Philly's Pop stations (#16) -
  23. There is some info on discogs about the Steve Long single where it's listed as a Canadian (??) 45.
  24. R.I.P. Edward ! Thanks for all the music !
  25. Joel Selvin's book "Here Comes The Night" mentions the song. Hoagy's version was cut in New York City in January, 1967 and was scheduled for release on the Bang label but was never issued. Here's another song which bears a strong resemblance to "32 Miles..." and "Mojo Mamma" -
