  1. I believe Brother's Guiding Light is the Dreamlovers with a new name. So - group members should be Don Hogan, Tommy Ricks, Cleveland Hammock and Cliff and James Dunn.
  2. "They'll Never Know Why" did make it to "Local Spotlight" status on one of Albequerque's stations-
  3. I think that's a very good possibility- David Nunez wrote one side of the Dave Newman 45 and was also lead singer on this single by The Chekkers-
  4. Yes- the Jazz saxophonist stuck to instrumentals .
  5. Besides KGFJ, I could only find it getting play on this radio station where it just made the Top 30 -
  6. I don't remember seeing Dee Dee Barnes stock copies or hearing it on the radio. In fact, I don't remember ever seeing promos or stocks of this around the Chicago area.
  7. One more for the list- this is not the same song as the Little Milton tune already posted-
  8. There is a Marv Johnson version that exists on acetate and the Temptations did a version on their "Temptations Sing Smokey" album.
  9. A few more for the list- O'Kaysions- "Deal Me In" Tico and the Triumphs- "Cards Of Love" Alicia Meyers- "If You Play Your Cards Right" Persuaders- "Gamblin' On A Sure Shot"
  10. Little Milton covering both sides of a card game -
  11. "My Baby.." was on an album that was released in 1959 so it's okay for this thread. I've heard "Drip Drop" by the Drifters and Big Maybelle's "I Got A Feeling" got a few spins.
  12. I meant the same thing- I should have said a white label promo with the curved Calla logo ! The 70's promos have the straight across Calla logo.
  13. I know discogs has the promo as legitimate but, I have my doubts. I've seen the white and blue label promos and the regular white and red label promos but not a white label. I can't remember seeing any other white label Calla promos either. Anyone else ??
  14. The Silhouettes did top the Pop and R & B charts 10 years earlier- I can't see the company pressing 200,000 albums on a group that were hitless for that long. Besides an album review in Billboard and "Not Me Baby" getting some airplay on a station in Trenton, New Jersey, it appears that the SiIhouettes comeback never happened. Finally, if an album would have sold 200,000 copies it would have showed up on the Top Pop/Rock charts or the Soul Album charts. The Silhouettes album never charted.
  15. This is not the Bridges/ Knight/ Easton group. There was a thread on SS from 2019 "Johnny & the Brothers of Soul ... Who Are they" . I don't think the identity of this group was ever solved.
  16. Current credits for the song (on the Don't Forget The Motor City site) are Robert Staunton and Catherine Chapman. I'm not sure how Jump Jackson's name got on the credits. Also, I've only seen the yellow stock copies of Holly Maxwell .
  17. The Don Costa production probably does have some bearing. Another option is that Gino (now going by Darrin D'Anna) and the Reflections were both part of 1965's "Shower Of Stars" tour. They probably became friendly and remembered Gino when they were looking for a lead singer.
  18. In the liner notes to "Northern Soul's Classiest Rarities 2", there's an interview with Gino who says he did replace Tony Michaels as the lead singer of the Reflections . Gino never tells how this happened. I guess Tony decided to stay with Golden World while the rest of the group went to ABC .
  19. I think what you're looking for is this CD- It's "The Second Time Around" album + 13 bonus tracks.
  20. The article was from the January 22, 1966 issue of Record World.
  21. To make things even more confusing, I found this article in Record World that was published a week before the Eddie Regan article that was in Cashbox. I would guess Costa took the Eddie Regan master with him when he went to ABC -
  22. I'm not sure what you're getting. I'm reading that info as Ramal-Wilson produced the 45 for Don Costa Productions aka DCP.
  23. Patti was still with Atlantic at the time of this 45- the flip side of this new release on 45 was made in Chicago and most likely produced by Curtis Mayfield. For more info, there's a topic in the All About The Soul section from November of this year titled "Soul 4 Real New Release- Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles".
