Great track. Philly credits but methinks Mr Terry lurking in the background, and for a record recorded 16.05.69 I suspect this was one of Mike Terry's last contributions via the sax.

B) An 'A la king' Detroit item that got to the test pressing stage in New York, but no further.

Just finished a book on The Supremes by Mark Ribowsky in which he states that Popcorn Wylie left Motown (early 60's) to join a label called Northern Soul!

Never heard of that one before, or is it common knowledge?

Don't know if this confuses the issue or confirms anything - had this on a Bell Sound test pressing with STR detailing on the label but the test pressing label was covering up a PartyTime one underneath!

Can someone tell me the words at the intro of The Sweet " Broken Heart Attack " what comes immediately after ' When you left me' i still can't understand it and i have loved this track for 30 years.

Not heard the sound for a good while but seem to recall he said something like When You Left Me The Pain It Was Macho Macho.

If you weren't a dancer at wigan you could be pretty damn critical of Russ's delivery.

As a dancer - took the rough with the smooth, but always reckoned Russ was more bothered about a heaving floor rather than the up yer ass politics of who had what etc.

Spun many a fine 'dance tune' over the years - Johnny Dynamite - The Night The Angels Cried stands out for me.
