As I recall was totally solid in the middle, would be a brave person to create a spindle hole but sure it could be done.
Rod is on here, maybe he could confirm my memory isn't playing tricks?

Mischief making
He was pretty good at occasional mischief making our old friend Mr McAdden, but I do recall him doing a double take at The Volumes Pama photocopy, looked like he wished he had done it himself first!
Did I recall Dave Withers or Rod Shard unearthed a Porgy & Monarchs MHCFY which had not had the import centre pressed out, looked pretty tasty?

New tunes have always been the lifeblood of the scene, tumbled over this baby recently on YT and in 50 years attending many events never recall hearing this one so thought I would share.
The Wrecking Crew - My Chico.
Hope I am not breaking any SS rules?

Very good. Seems like the riots certainly took a bit of steam out of the momentum at the time.

Broadways Sweet & Heavenly Melody/You Just Don't Know
Jerry Williams If You Ask Me/Yvonne
Shirley J Scott Goosepimples/Lonely Girl
What's evident from the responses is you could have a tidy half price collection if you concentrated on double headers!

Definitely a minefield of choice, after all these years the most instant call to arms to these ears is The Twans - I can"t see him again.
No prisoners at that opening.

Another very sad loss to our music.
John, of course, co-wrote "Time Will Pass You By". Just one of the many musical things we have to thank him for. Has it ever been documented how this song came to be written by John & Dino Fekaris & Nick Zesses ?
John explained to me that he wrote the first verse and the chorus but then got writer's block with the song. When he met Dino and Nick 12 months later they were keen to see any finished material he had. John Rhys produced a few things which didn't grab their attention,so when they were still insistent for material he reluctantly offered the unfinished TWPYB. They saw the potential merit and set about finishing it off, we all benefited from that meeting.

RIP. That man lived a life, a true gent.
A man who tried to make sure Time didn't pass him by.

Totally agree with the above post. Each DJ brings something different to the table. We have been blessed with the efforts of all concerned and we all have been able to live richer lives. Thanks to everyone who has kept me on that floor 50 years and still going, keep dropping that stylus and I'll keep giving it 'some rice'.

Interesting observation....seems to be a default assumption that this person is male, we keep our ears open, let's do the same with our minds.

Came across this on the web.
The DOC label has always been an anomaly, however this snippet gives a bit of background regarding the label. The Smiley Bros on DOC is described as an ensemble from the Wrecking Crew, another FW link.
Sounds like a worthy cause.

Pretty good description by Ian there.
Rouncey told me a story that John Abbey had told him whilst he was at Stateside that for every big seller that they had, they would add an obscure favourite to the release schedule, hence the UK release of things such as Eddie Jefferson's Goldwax single.
Trevor Churchill one of the owners of Ace Records would know more than anyone as he worked at EMI for Bell in the late 60s and was responsible for the Cellar Of Soul compilations. He was also I think responsible for the three tier system of releases of Bell/ Amy material in the UK in the late 60s, where Bell would release the most viable records, then Action would get the next go and then finally Pama would get to chose stuff at the end of the day.
I do think that Berry Gordy's story is liable to be untrue as Brian Epstein would have had no need to phone BG to secure the rights to use the Motown songs. This is a US way of operating and the records were released in the UK a year before they were in the US.
The BG/BE story is true. BG mentioned it on a Radio 2 interview celebrating the 50th Motown anniversary. He actually said BE gave him 3 hours to decide, there were hardly any execs about to make a decision. The ones available he asked all agreed to reject the BE offer so BG phoned back and accepted it! That's what happens when you're the boss.

Surprised black puddings never even got a look in.....fake news.
You can tell how skillful that fella contributing is as you can't even tell he has a ferret running up and down the inside of his strides!
Just remember everyone on the scene was universally welcomed irrespective of geographical location, but then again the scene wasn't the norm.

I remember years ago in PC World and a young tech geek was filling my head with all sorts of confusing terminology about an impending laptop purchase. As I was at tech lingo breaking point on comes Tony Clarke Landslide. That was his time to be confused as I jigged around his expansive impromtu dance floor. Cheers Tony, you saved me!
Might have been a great deal on the laptop,I'll never know.

Big yes here. One of the great things about this track is it's rarity on an original, hence you don't get to hear it out that often so when it does get played it really hits the mark for me anyway.
