I'm in the US and not a Northern person but I first started buying records mid? 1969, 25 Miles, Tears of a Clown were big favorites to me and still are, both huge hits here in the US. The first obscure soul records I bought without having any knowledge of what they was probably I Don't Want To Lose You by the Bell Boys, Lonely World by the Sensations, Keep Loving You by Silky Hargraves, Together Again by the Shaddows, and some others I forgot, bought at flea markets in the greater Cleveland area 1981-1982 also got several 45s by the Nombres as they were a local band to where I was junking records at the time. I wasn't really aware of Northern Soul until the mid 1980s.
Harry, yes, this was common on all kinds of RCA LPs, I have/had ones from David Bowie, Lou Reed, Elvis, New Birth, Main Ingredient, etc, for their promo LPs. RCA promo LPs could also have a squarish white sticker on the front, about 3"square, listing the LP as a promo with track listings and timing.
I don't remember seeing RCA LPs from this time with unique promo/demo labels. I've had many stamped LPs as shown above with standard issue labels. There could be an exception but I would not bet on it. The only promo label RCA LPs I remember were special promotional issues that were not available commercially.
The Empires scan posted above is clearly been doctored for the fraud auction, as I said above I found matches for sources of the doctored Detroit Sounds of Friction and the Penetrations, so here they are
The original scan for Detroit Sounds of Friction

Regarding this topic...
I believe the crook is back in business.

The scans for the Empires and Detroit Sounds of Friction are recycled from previous auctions. Also, the seller is listed as being from the same area. The scans are clearly been resampled/resized using some cheap SW.
Penetrations on Highland is also a reused scan.
Just thought I would pass it along.....
Bobby Wade - Flame in my heart
Marlene and Debanettes - Earthquake
Jimmy Hudson - What's That
Little Stanley - the PW
Sisters Three - Keep Off No Trespassing
J Young and B Hill - Its Got Soul
The Smutt label is a readily available reissue. The original issue is on Eceip records, the flip side to the Fallen Angels "Bad Woman", that will cost you about $1K.
Thank you Arthur and Dave, I didn't catch the recent ebay sale, that appears to be the standard. I just found a M- copy here in the US. I'll probably trade it for something, but am enjoying it for now.
It was played in some Starbucks coffees here in the US. For a few weeks last summer they were playing a Northern mix - Suspicion, I Travel Alone, Soul Self Satisfaction, Too Darn Soulful, Lonely For You, etc. Amazing to hear them, they are still unknowns to pretty much everyone here.
I would like some help on price/value for Tiaras - Loves Made A Connection on Seton, M- shape. I see one sold here for 850 (posted price, not sure if that is final price) a couple months ago, is that fair? The only logged ebay sale from 3 1/2 years ago is a lot less.
Thanks in advance for the help
I tried to PM you but your mailbox is full. The moderator reopened this so I could contact you. I have a copy for sale in OK shape. Best way to contact me is email
buckeyebeat@hotmail.com
Doesn't have to be mint, a VG+ or better copy that plays well and has a presentable label with no serious tears or writing - thanks! send PM or email buckeyebeat@hotmail.com
Another for the "SatisfactIon" group - Clarence Reid - I'm Your Yes Man
A bunch of songs use the similar three descending note and pause intro that was first? used on Jackie Ross's "Selfish One" - Edwin Starr "SOS", Explosive Dynamiks "Whole Lotta Loving", Purple Mundi "Stop Hurting Me", I think there are more...
Pointed this one before but Gwen Owens "Wanted and Needed" intro takes after the old Stereos doowop record "I really love you".
Thee Midniters "You're Gonna Make Me Cry" is a bit like JJ Jackson's "But It's Alright"
Limelights - Don't Leave Me Baby - Uncle 1442 - M-, super clean copy, $2400 - PM or email buckeyebeat@hotmail.com For sound file and scan, go to

Hello Howard, thanks so much for your answers and for all the years of writing and producing music. Were the International Five, LMNOPs, and Kalenders groups from Toledo?
I found several copies of the Magnificent Opinions records out here in Bellingham, WA.
This record doesn't turn up that much in Cleveland, it's the rarest good Way Out label 45, rarer than "Demanding Man" - it's not as rare as the Joan Bias record but no one is after that one. I don't recall ever being offered a M- copy in the past 10 years but I live in the US well away from the Northern scene. It's too fast for a dance record at places I DJ records - the better (IMO) flip side is available on a pretty common and cheap Way Out 45.

There's a typo - "I've GOIT Style"...like a Goiter?
Also, this record is known, sorta, it's from Cleveland, it's the first 45 by the Imperial Wonders.

I was told the Unlimited Four were from Toledo by someone else (they could have seen the same blog post but that looks pretty authentic). There were no good recording studios (for soul or rock music) in Toledo at the time so it makes sense they took the 1/2 hour drive to Detroit.
I'd say about $70-ish (or 40 quid) on the Ba-Roz. There are two pressings, one as the Ra-Boz (incorrect name) and the Ba-Roz. Other than the name, the records are identical.
