Do Wop record values - any lesson for us?
All genres of music are different. There are some all time legendary doowop rarities that still go for top money - for example, the Sha-Weez on Aladdin on ebay this past week. Most of the rare doowop records I've dealt in the past few years have gone to long time collectors who are late 60s/70s in age, so you can assume that once they get too old, that market is gone for good. The cheap/common doowop records started tanking 10+ years ago and are still going down. Not much new blood coming into the market. The best way to gauge future record values is to see the age group who are most actively buying the records. I see plenty of people in their 20s and 30s buying garage and soul records, R&B, but not as much rockabilly and no doowop. Yeah, a good percentage of these are DJ types who will burn out and sell up quickly but there's still enough 'hard filers' to keep the market stable.

San Antonio 45s
I turned down a $3000 offer for my Botumles Pit 45. You should probably post in a Facebook group that deals in garage records. Do you know anything about the band?

Seattle - Record Stores? Events?
Sorry, bars aren't my thing. I will go see live music occasionally - at Darrells Tavern in Shoreline, Tractor Tavern and Sunset in Ballard. Where to hang out depends on your age and interests, Capitol Hill used to have (and my still have) a couple good spots. Georgetown and Ballard as well. Alki Beach and Green Lake are fun places to go when the weather is decent. The downtown Seattle waterfront is undergoing a lot of change. Seattle in general is being radically changed by gentrification. There are a lot of good places to eat, most of the restaurants in the core neighborhoods are at least decent. Check out the Stranger paper (or website www.thestranger.com) for more tips.

Seattle - Record Stores? Events?
I hope you don't mean Calvary (Jerusalem) as in the Bible, and meant to say Calgary - Calgary is a long way from Seattle, 10-12 hour drive as I recall. Better not wait too late in the year or else you will be driving in a lot of snow....

Seattle - Record Stores? Events?
Sorry, the garage night is moved to May 29. You would think Seattle has record stores where people that are cool to hang out with sell records at decent prices....and you would be mistaken. The best place to find expensive records is Bop Street. The best place that fits the description I gave is Georgetown records. If you're going to visit Pike Place market, there is a record store there. Jive Time, Easy Street, Golden Oldies may have something.

Global Shipping Charges/import Duties? What The Fuk
I don't see any decline in prices on records selling on ebay from the US - I wish, as I would like to be the beneficiary of a few bargains living here in the US (this includes 60s soul and 60s garage). The good/rare records continue to go up. The cheap/common records are still hard to move, this is because of the huge postage increase, shipping one 45 from the US is now $12 and change, three years ago it was $5 and change. The most recent cheap record I got was because it was shipping to US only, a clean Adams Apples "Don't Take..." for $130ish. Several people overseas have the records shipped from ebay to a US address, and then have them sent resent without all the GSP or other crap.

Seattle - Record Stores? Events?
There is a weekly event on Thursday night. Too bad you can't be here on the second Saturday (June 13 this month) for Emerald City Soul Club or the weekend before that for the Tacoma record show. If you like 60s (and some modern) garage rock, we are having a DJ night on May 22.

Ok How Does It Become Ex Graded Double O 's Demingoes ?
Yes, the Crawl/ A Thousand Years Too Late is the rarest 45 by them. Color One Tear Black used to sell pretty cheap, as the hard funk of "Crawl" was the in demand side. That was at the peak of the hard funk sound about 10 years ago, and "Crawl" sold for four figures. I paid $500 for mine which was more that I paid for the other three combined (including their 1st 45 as James Bowens and the Agents). Sometime over the next week I make a sound file of "1000 Years" if no one else does. There's copies of all the 45s in several US collections.

Info On The Sandpipers - I Really Love You
The recent Pied Piper production CD says there wasn't any solid info on the singers IDs.

Ok How Does It Become Ex Graded Double O 's Demingoes ?
You're about 15 years too late. Several Cincy / Ohio people contacted them way back. They started as James Bowens and the Agents, Bowens was the leader, he liked the James Bond / spy movie genre and named the group accordingly.

Rita & The Tiaras Original On E-Bay $3,850 And Still 5 Days To Go,
That's really interesting - although here in the US radio play did not mean the record sold. It's possible that the low riders were just hearing it on the radio and asking it to be played for dedications. I've seen radio charts that have now rare records charting high locally, but still only handfuls of copies around. People calling/requesting does not necessarily equal sales.

Rita & The Tiaras Original On E-Bay $3,850 And Still 5 Days To Go,
The sound file on the TB copy sounds like it has groove wear. I'd take Jimmy Bo Horn (sic) instead.

Price Of A 45 1970?
bought a bunch of records back then... 79 cents, 89 cents. The price stayed about the same until 1973/4 when oil prices jumped. LPs cost about $2.98 and $3.98 (or $3.79. or $3.97, depending on the store)). Went to $4.98 in the later 1970s. In the late 1970s I was paying $1.25 for a 45.

Northern Soul Classic Oldies That Still Hardly Turn Up.....on Issue
Here in the US, I've seen red issues of all the Columbia 45s mentioned, they are easier to find than many of the other labels mentioned here. The only one that was never on stock AFAIK was the Youth Opportunity Program promo of the Jimmy Fraser 45. Speaking of UK 45s, at least ones released in the US, I would like to see a black issue of the Tony Colton 45 on ABC, never seen one

Censored Covers
The Moms Apple Pie cover posted above does have a very slight connection to Northern Soul - two of the members of MAP were in the Shaddows of "Together Again" fame. I recall seeing two different covers to the Velvet Hammer "Call Me" LP, one of them with a woman in bed, I recall there was some story to that and the cover was changed.

The Midnight Rebels - "it's Growing"
Found one of these in the US a few weeks ago for $3. There's probably more out there, just no one paying attention.

Skullsnaps Lp
This reminds me of the first Todd Rundgren LP under the name of Runt. Some original copies had a sticker mentioning the song "We Gotta Get You A Woman" (a semi-hit 45 here in the US when it and the LP was released in 1970). When the LP was booted/counterfeited in the mid-late 1970s, the sticker was now part of the printed cover. I think there are more examples of this but the Runt LP is one I remember most. There were a bunch of counterfeit LPs from the same era, Yardbirds, the first Billy Joel LP, all US issues.
