  1. I have something like 12 45s by AW on VLM/Finch, Fraternity, Jewel, RYE (Jewel offshoot), M in the Street, etc as part of my Ohio artists collection. I don't remember if the book about Cincinnati blues artists has a real discography. I doub;t I have everything as I tend to stop in the mid-late 70s and I know he cut records after that (probably on Jewel as well) - George
  2. There are two different pressings of the record, not that one is a demo or issue. I believe that the black Rite pressing was first and when the record took off they amended the title to make sure people recognized the song. It was a big local hit in the Central Massachussetts area (the band was from Worcester or thereabouts), neither pressing seems to be significantly rarer than the other, I would prefer the black Rite one for quality of the plastic. They sound not accidentally like the Zombies. They also had a second 45 on the white label only. Dave Rivers was a guitar player, I met him by accident in a Fitchburg, MA music store where he worked and gave lessons. I wasn't even aware this was a Northern record until a few years ago. It wouldn't be played on the US rare soul scene. - George
  3. Willie Wade SOLD
  4. Majestics - (I Love Her So Much) It Hurts Me - Linda (yellow) DJ/demo - 340 UKP M- copy, probably unplayed when I got it yesterday (played once by me to check sound, which is great). Just needs a cleaning from 45 years of storage, not DJ'ed or handled! Labels like new. Paypal as gift only, I'm the US email buckeyebeat@hotmail.com or send PM Thanks! PS Sheepherders still available (Willie Wade sold), see previous posting a couple days ago
  5. Thanks for the support guys, these are from my collection but I have some big expenses (as well as paying for a big Cleveland want) and I need some money I tried to attach a file for the Sheepherders and the other side of WW but I guess there's a one song limit. Anyways here is the Sheepherders - George
  6. Sheepherders - If ever you need me (Sounds International) grades about VG (in US grading) - no significant scratches but visible sleeve scuffs. Plays GREAT! - check the sound file. Label has three initials written on it on the top right side betweem the logo and the "45 RPM" description - about 1/2" by 1/2" (on both sides of the record) - sorry my scanner is not working 900 UKP Willie Wade - Come Into My World / When Push Comes to Shove (Nite Life) - white label demo/promo EX- condition (VG+ US grade), 3-4 visible scuffs each sidebut clean labels with very minor wear check the sound files for both songs SOLD Paypal (as gift) only, I'm in the US email to: buckeyebeat@hotmail.com or send PM Cheers George
  7. the 'raw garage version' is probably the Bare Facts on Goldrode(sp?). No horns, I think, I may even have the record somewhere. Charlie was the name of a women's perfume. I remember TV commercials for it. I dunno if there's a connection to said record, I've never owned one (nor do I want to). The best version is by the Grass Roots, it was not released on a US 45 (LP cut only) but did come out somewhere in Europe I believe. There was something like 200 copies of the Little Flint 45 'found' some years ago. Don't over pay for it! The producer (co) wrote a book about Cincinnati music and mentions the band, the book is interesting but heavily biased towards artists he had personal connections with.
  8. Hello Pete - I am not aware of that...thanks for mentioning and I will look into it. If you or anyone else is interested in the record, please contact me by PM or email - buckeyebeat@hotmail.com and we can discuss payment/shipping terms. cheers George
  9. For sale - Sheepherders - If ever you need me (Sounds International) grades about VG (in US grading) - no significant scratches but visible sleeve scuffs. Plays GREAT! - check the sound file. Label has three initials written on it on the top right side betweem the logo and the "45 RPM" description - about 1/2" by 1/2" (on both sides of the record) - sorry my scanner is not working 1000 UKP postage to UK/Europe included (I'm in the USA) Payment ONLY by Paypal as gift cheers George
  10. Just curious - are you related to/know the groups guitar player? His family was looking for a copy as well and I was trying to help out. I don't want to interfere with anyone.
  11. Of course nothing is 100% - there are errors in the dates and other typos which is a given and that doesn't bother me as long as they are not excessive. Errors in content - I am much less forgiving. The statement 'many garage records have appeal to soul collectors' is true but irrevelant to this book - the name is SOUL discography, not 'records that soul fans would like'. The Abstract Sound had another 45 (not noted) and the band's locale is incorrect which leads me to think this is an unvetted entry. There's at least one more non soul garage/rock record in the sample I saw so two over a few pages is not going to be a good average when taken over 1000+ pages. Sure, I can help depending on my time and the publishing deadlines Have the editors email me - buckeyebeat@hotmail.com - George
  12. In case anyone cares, the Abstract Sound 45 listed in the book is not a soul record, it's a garage record. It only took a couple pages to get to this 'error'. I wonder if/how many more of these will be spread over 100s of pages How carefully were the entries in the book checked for their accuracy? Did the editors actually audition every record to see if it's soul? Do they even care?
  13. The Hawaii 5-0 theme song was cool the first 200 times I heard it...I watched at least 80% of the the show in its first run but THIS is a MUCH better 'version' but sure aint soul...

    Flock

CRIPES! This un-soulie Yank is gonna school you - This ain't "the Flock" , it's the Sheepherders on Sounds International and the song title is "If Ever You Need Me" Who made up this "Flock" name? - George
  15. the reason most US records aren't dated is that there's no reason for them to be dated. People didn't think anyone would care 30-40 years later. There's still people who confuse copyright dates with release dates. Cameo 45s (the mid 60s 'cameo' label design) were not all released in 1963! That being said, 85% of US pressed records can be ID'ed to the month of release through pressing code info and cross referencing old trade mags. - George
  16. I think all three Springers 45s exist on demo - two of them are Atlantic distrributed. The Sensations "I Won't Be Hurt" and "Too Shy" exist on demo - black and white label instead of colored. All the MGM distributed 45s (#1000 - #1006, both Soul Notes, both Fred Towles, Sensations) have demo pressings but they are the all multicolored labels with "Not for sale" on them. None of the later 45s have ever been found on true demo pressings to my knowledge. There are some stamped demos and a few acetates. - George
  17. Thanks everyone I got what I wanted! - george
  18. BUMP Can anybody help please - by PM then is fine THANKS!
  19. Sensations - 1000 UKP for clean players HAD was quoted to be at 500 quid, I paid less, I dunno what a market price would be, might be a good record for a Manship auction.
  20. I'm now the proud owner of both! Or should I say - SORTED! Been a great year for finding records......
  21. FYI #1981 is another Lakeside 45 by the One Eyed Jacks - Die Today / Somewhere They Can't Find Me -- garage, B side is the Simon and Garfunkel song #1983 is on Chess but missing from some discogs - it's the Wurds (aka Dirty Wurds) - Born In Chicago / Midnight Hour -- garage, both covers
  22. Could anyone provide more details on the Foreign Blue Renaissance 45? A label scan is what I'd like but if the owners prefer to keep it hidden, then details such as correct label name, titles, date - would be much appreciated Thanks! - George
  23. Label scan for Seeds of Reason - the stock copies are a nice deep blue https://www.popsike.com/Garage-by-SEEDS-OF-REASON-Im-Your-True-Love-Lakeside/370335220588.html
  24. There's a garage record by the Seeds of Reason on Lakeside that's one of the 'missing' Chess numbers. There may be another 45 on Lakeside as well. I can get the details if you don't know them. Same deal with Smash/Fontana/etc. - George
  25. BAD rock, to be specific - proto-mullet AOR stuff. And Pittsburgh Steeler tributes, and plenty of 'ethnic' (Polka, etc), just about every thing you would expect from a vanity operation. The only garage records I kept were the Actions (from Ohio) and the Badd Ladds. The numbering system has the year as the first two digits. The last two digits incremented with each release, so 7515 would be the 15th record of 1975. I don't know if this is true for every year, but seems to be a pretty accurate rule - George
