  1. With all the recent "unpleasantness", I thought I'd highlight a good purchase/sales experience with a Soul Source member.

After a recent visit to USOS, as usual, my wants list was increased! After a search on ebay for a couple of months and then getting "sniped" on the wanted 45, I spotted it for sale on the Anoraks Corner website run by Dave Flynn.

The price was right and I e-mailed Dave. Despite the fact he's in JAPAN, he got straight back to me, was more than fair with the postage costs and the deal was agreed. As I was off on holiday, I asked him to hold postage for a week until I returned.

We returned last weekend. Dave e-mailed on the Sunday and said he would post ( from Japan) on Monday 24th August.

The disc was delivered in "Bomb-Proof" packaging on Wednesday 26TH just 2 days later!! It actually arrived by special delivery, before 9am, beating the usual post.

I'd just like to thank Dave and recommend the website and service to anyone who hasn't tried it yet.

    Thanks again Dave

  2. Hello

    Great record.

Last 1 on ebay was at $305 in October 2008.

    Previously gone for much more.

$767 in August 2007 seems to have been the peak, but thats what happens in auctions!!

    Info from popsike.

    Good luck.

  3. Don't forget: -

    Beanhead and Lynn

    Neil Russell and "Our Rob"

    Ronnie Cooper

    Bod (me)

Good place to buy records and make plans for the weekend discuss previous weekend.

"Russ's Head" being egged on by Shelton to do very silly thinks with various measures of Brandy, Whiskey etc.

Lady behind the bar who had never had her hair cut!!

  4. Towanda Barnes aka Gloria Barnes.

Back in 1974, some DJs who couldn't get hold of the A&M recording played "You Don't Mean It" from the Gloria Barnes LP on Maple - a different cut of the song by the very same singer!

Incidently, I'm only aware of three albums on the Maple label (a subsidiary of All Platinum). All contain cover versions of songs which appear to be better than the original versions!

Check ebay for item Number - 400013996003

What do you think of that for an asking price!!

  5. Mitchell Braithwaite " You've Been A Long Time Coming " ( Probe )

I was looking through some old lists yesterday , and found one from Neil Rushton , dating from 1977 .

The above record is listed in the " Rarities - Strictly Originals " section , on a demo for the princely sum of £3 .......

I cannot for the life of me recall the record ( obviously the tune had gained scene plays , or Neil would not have listed it ) : so can some kind soul please oblige with a sound clip - providing such a creature exists ........

    Malc Burton

    Hello

I picked one up on ebay last year for about £10. White USA Probe.

John Manship has one for sale with a sound clip: -

Is it the same record as the "Other Brothers"

    Cheers

  6. That was "Mac" I think, from Wednesfield or Willenhall.

Thats right Pete, It was Malc Pitt. The glass eye thing was his party trick!! I think it's been mentioned before but it popped out a few times at Nighter's. Most memorable was in Mr M's one night. Everyone looking for it - you can just imagine can't you! He recently got married and lives in the Wednesfield area.

His brother Kevin is attending nighters and soul nights still.

If you check the 3 photo's I posted a few weeks ago, you'll see Mac in the red jumper at Wigan.

Steve Powell has recently started attending a few local soul nights (Goodyears etc). You can tell him a mile off from his dance style. Still looks the same.

    All the best

Bod (I'm the one on the far left in the red jumper photo)
