Timi Yuro
Just noticed this on Ebay. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TIMI-YURO-45-ITLL-NEVER-OVER-ME-ACETATE-SCARCE-/220748372580?pt=UK_Records&hash=item3365a0da64 A USA Acetate?? What do you think? Legit and will go for a fortune? or Looks a bit odd? I'm not questioning the sellers integrity or the credentials of the disc, just thought it was odd as there was no USA release. Perhaps they did this and deceided not to bother - I dunno!!

What Was The Best All-Dayer
A few from Wolverhampton used to go to Tiffany's in Newcastle Under Lyme. The Flaming Emeralds sticks in my mind from that venue. Here's a ticket from 1978. Also liked going to the Locarno in Birmingham - particularly after an alnighter.

Chris Morgan - Who Am I - Boot?
Is Jerry's version the first version? Did Bill Medley ever record it? He is credited as the writer.

Chris Morgan - Who Am I - Boot?
Thanks for the info and thoughts. John, it's styrene with a stick on label. Markings in deadwax are scratched in rather than machine stamped. Just checked popsike and found this issue... https://www.popsike.com/rare-Northern-Soul-45-CHRIS-MORGAN-who-am-i-BELL-Listen/350242480915.html Looks like an issue of the Demo I have. Dave, thanks for the input. I'm happy that it's legit! Personally, I prefer the Chris Morgan version. Jerry's version is good but doesn't really get going for me until about half way through. Interesting bit of banter for a rainy Saturday in February, 2 degrees on the thermometer.

Chris Morgan - Who Am I - Boot?
Hello All, I've had this a few years and saw one for sale recently. It's a Demo, but the label is just WHITE. Most of the Bell USA Demo's I've seen have a coloured Logo in the background. I thought it looked odd when I got it but just tucked it away and did nothing more about it. Is this a boot? Any thoughts ot comments? Thanks KB

Burning Bush
Hi Dave, You've got a very observant "Evil Eye". I didn't think they matched but as it came floating across from the USA dressed like that I thought I'd leave it alone!

Burning Bush
Isn't this also collected for the B side by Psych Types?

How To Sell Records
As a new member of S.S. inviting folks to send you money it might be worth doing a brief introduction of yourself. As a buyer, it's always reassuring to know a little about who you are dealing with. Good luck.

Ns In Film
I remember seeing in the credits of the "National Lampoons Animal House" a bloke called Melvin Britt. A load of us went to see the film when it was released in 1978. He also did some of the backing vocals. I was never sure if it was THE Mel Britt. Anybody know for if it was?

I thought of this article from my copy of "Northern Noise" issue no.3 while I was reading the thread. Might be relevant.....or not.

E-Bay Stalker ?
Same here, seems to show most things I have bid on - win, 2nd highest or cheeky low bids. Doesn't show one where the identity is "Private".

Seminoles - You Can Lump It
Hi Dave, I have the Embers 45 but not the Seminoles. Didn't notice any difference in the versions, but then again, that means NOTHING . Just found this on a do-wop website. It implies the Act IV was the first issue and the MidTown was taken from the same master tapes. Who know's, but great tune. Biography : Early-'50s and -'60s Detroit blue-eyed soul vocal groups usually had great first tenor leads, and the Seminoles were no exception. These smooth harmonizers, led by Joey Finazzo and consisting of members Andy,Al and Paul (last names unknown), debuted with "Open Your Eyes" b/w "True Love" in 1961 on local hopeful Go Gee Records. The record got their name known around town, and local disc jockeys gave it a few spins, but it was nothing special. When Roquel "Billy" Davis left Anna Records to form Checkmate Records, he gave the Seminoles a shot. "It Takes a Lot," released May 1962, was starting to do something when Roquel closed Checkmate to take an A&R position with Chess Records (who distributed Anna and Checkmate), leaving the Seminoles in a lurch. Not for long, though -- Hi-Lite Records picked up the song and managed to get an area hit for their troubles. A second Hi Lite release, "Trouble in Mind" b/w "Have You Got Love," bombed. They were The embers for one release on Act IV Records, "Forever" b/w "You Can Lump It"; when Act IV failed to do anything, the Seminoles took the master to Midtown Records who re-released the sides as the Seminoles. It didn't matter, the single still failed to ignite and the Seminoles disbanded.

Seminoles - You Can Lump It
Also issued as "The Embers" - You can lump it - on "Act IV" Orange label, looks like the same layout as Mid Town label.

Lee Jennings Mispress On Dottys?
Hi, Does that mean one of your DJ's bought the 45!! If so, hope you can tell us WHO and if they have any more info? As I mentioned at the start, there were a few people bidding at the higher end. Cheers

Lee Jennings Mispress On Dottys?
Hello All, I saw this pop up on ebay, thought it sounded good and might bid. On Dottys label, apparently a mispress. NO CHANCE- it went for $1251 with a few bidders at around that level. Any info on this? Is it one I should know about but slipped by while I had a 25 year snooze away from the scene! I'd be interested to know more. Cheers https://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT Kev Bod.

Unexpected Writing On Labels - Any Stories
Pete, I have evidence from 1978 that you have previous form in this matter. Exhibit 1. Please see lower part of scan - includes address!

Unexpected Writing On Labels - Any Stories
I bought this a number of years ago from a retired DJ/70's Soulie who picked it up on holiday in America. No idea if the writing refer's to THE Berry. Seems a strange thing for someone to write on a demo.

Trivial Pursuit
Chubby Checker - real name Earnest Evans. The name Chubby Checker was supposed to be a play on the name of Fats Domino. His Wife Catharina was a former Miss World from Holland. 1962 Go Chubby!!

My Secret Pleasures
Roger K Yes, I know that this sort of stuff is frowned on these day's, but it did work way back then in a big stinky old venue with carpets made out of chewing gum! (P.S. - how the hell do you add youtube clips - didn't seem to work here)
