  1. I was 19 in 1979, so not sure if that qualified as a "kid" back then!! It may have been 24 year olds moaning about 15 year olds. How things have changed - sort of
  2. I thought this rang a bell!! Nothing new I'm afraid. Just dug out my copy of a magazine given away at WIgan. It covers 1979. Just check number 4 in the list of "Worst Things About The Scene". Personaly I think it's good to see younger folks at venues. Cheers Kev Bod
  3. Not my copy. (Oooop's - not sure why image isn't showing)
  4. No USA 45 of this one (I think) . Not sure if it came out as a 45 elsewhere. Kev Bod
  5. Had this since the old days. Different label format. Only cost pennies, Kev Bod
  6. Club Classic/Yoof club sound?
  7. Here's my light blue copy. Not sure if the difference will show up in the scan. I'd never seen the DARK blue before the JM auction!! (then again, not something I would be looking for) Kev Bod.
  8. Is this the one? I bought this in the late 70's All the best Kev Bod
  9. Hi, Here's a scan of my Red stock copy (sorry, not looking to sell). I think that "Word" is the "B" side. Is this one of those records on issue only? Regards Kev Bod
  10. Hi Jayboy 91looks to be: - Not issued according to this list. (hope it's right!!) Regards Kev Bod https://www.globaldog...jay-boy-uk.html
  11. I've bought a couple of bits from sellers in USA on ebay. One posted on 17th May and arrived with me on 23rd May. The other, posted on 9th May and arrived today, 25th May. The seller of the record I received today charged me $8.76 but then kindly sent it REGISTERED which cost him over $17 (no addl cost to me). I had sent him a message on the 23rd and he replied saying he had sent it registered and that he found registered took longer to arrive. Ealier this year I had something take 2 months.
  12. I'm sure I've noticed 2 versions with ALTEEN in slightly different text style.
  13. Hi Pete, I didn't miss the Radio Station Bit I heard it in the Big Room around about 79/80. I've never heard it played anywhere since. I played it once when I did a warm-up spot at USoS. As I mentioned, Max said it had a few plays at the Cats. What CD was it on? Some Chicago type thingy. By the way, an issue is £150 on JM site.
  14. Hi Lorraine, A pleasure to hear from a true Legend. I notice from your profile that you rate the Temptations as your top soul sound - any track/era in particular ? Kev Bod.
  15. Hi Pete I bought one on the JM Dropdown auction a year or so ago. Wasn't noted as a demo but a nice suprise when it arrived. I called John and they hadn't noticed the Radio Station bit on the label. He said if they had it would defo not been in the Dropdown. I watched your copy on eBay out of curiosity to see the finish price. Nice to have and doesn't crop up that often on a demo. As it's the same colour as the issue and the Radio Station bit is positioned in a less usual place, people just may not notice. I bought my first copy from Blue Max in the late 70's. Apparently he had played it at the Cat's but it was forgotten due to the rapid turnover in those days. I remember hearing it played occasionally at Wigan on Saturday Nights Cheers Kev Bod
  16. Looks like the seller is now listing items individually. Worth checking out. Also, if you were after a few 45's that aren't listed, it might be useful to send a message.
  17. Just checked and it's £150. There's a note about an auction finish price of £164 in 2008. 18. Just noticed this on eBay. Will it sell? How much would you value it at? How much would it cost to put together - even if you could find all the records? Must have taken a lifetime to put together. Interesting https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TAMLA-MOTOWN-COMPLETE-UK-45-RPMs-ISSUES-COLLECTION-EX-/290563743404?pt=UK_Records&hash=item43a6f2deac
  19. Wouldn't normaly post up about "live" auctions, but thought this was OK as the 45 is listed on ebay in the correct section, by one of the biggest dealers and a $99 start price. Appologies in advance to anyone who thought it was a secret !! Thought it might be a useful discussion as a member on here recently bought a Timi Yuro acetate which I think they later regretted having read discussions on SS (no, not me!) https://cgi.ebay.com/...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT It's a MEXICAN acetate of Lou Ragland -AMY - on 1 side and Bobby WIlson - VOLT - on the other. This seems an odd combination for an acetate put together in the 1960's. Sound quality on the clip shows that it's well worn. What do you think? I'd be well impressed if it's puka but have my doubts! Any thoughts or info guy's. Kev Bod
  20. About £510 as I recall. Top end price IMO.
  21. Here's a scan of the sleeve notes from the Goldmine CD, Chi Town Boogaloo. I've got the Zachron version which crops up much less frequently thank the other label (IMO). Can't say I can tell the difference but TB seems to think there is. A great record.
  22. Found this album cover. Classic 60's look. Wouldn't look out of place on the Austin Powers film set!
  23. Interesting, thanks for the reply. Is it the same woman who also recorded as Sheila B Devotion?
  24. Just seen this finish on ebay. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=150590340201&si=RZ6x5pXeHjZbf0771xh7reCo0Co%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT Check the sound clip, sit back and "enjoy". Not sure who it is.
