  1. Following on from a post made by RobbK in the Judy Highes thread. There are Jobete songs that were recorded and released by non-Motown/label artists. However, perhaps some of these songs may have been recorded by Motown artists and could be lurking on tapes in the archives. 1. Can any of you list any non-Motown Jobete songs. and 2. Perhaps suggest Motown artists you would like to uncover an unreleased version by. 3. Have these archives already been checked over many times (in which case, end of thread!) I'd be interested at least!! (and my Motown knowledge is limited) Cheers KB
  2. Thanks for that RobbK, I'll try to track some of those down to have a listen. Also, very interesting to think of the potential non-Motown Jobete songs lurking in the archive's on tape. It would make an interesting thread to list non-Motown Jobete songs. I might start one. Cheers Kev Bod.
  3. What are you talking about Pete? That ship is unsinkable. Quality engineering and there's nothing to bump into on that route. Anyway, I hadn't seen the clip before and thought it was a groovy bit of 60's tele to highlight. The host reminded me of the bloke doing the presenting in the Grease film. By the way, good to see you yesterday, sad that we only all get together at things like that. Cheers
  4. Just noticed this on Youtube. Judy Hughes performs both sides of the record. Former Judy Street cover-up from years ago. Interesting that it was added by Al Capps.
  5. Ian, Can Nicky and I add our condolences to the very many that have already been expressed by your friends. I think that there were numerous people, too many to count, who benefited from Helen and your kindness over the years, and who took shelter under her wings at some time. I certainly had a lot to thank you both for on a particular occasion when we made a visit to the 100 club in the 80's. You both made sure that we were safe and, using your network of and contacts, got us all back to Wolverhampton. I'm not sure what the guy from the RAC made of his passengers that Sunday. I'll see you on the 26th. Call us at any time, day or night, if you just need to talk. Anytime. Love to you and Ryan. From Bod and Nicky.
  6. Hello Mick, Thanks for posting the information. Nicola and I will be attending. Regards Kev Bod
  7. Hi, I started a little thread about this - last year I think. Sheila turned out to be Sheila B Devotion of "Spacer" and "Singinin' in the Rain" disco hits fame. She had an intersting career. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheila_(singer) Always liked the "Ye Ye girl" phrase - very 60's!! Cheers
  8. Here's a european issue of "I can't stand it" that I have. I've copied the record and pic cover to give as much info as possible. Also, if it helps, they also have a track on a UK Compilation LP I have called "Groov'y Baby". Track 5 on side 1. Good luck to Mr and Mrs Chambers. Kev Bodley
  9. Porgy & Monarchs - My Heart Cries for You - Musicor. Interesting infor on Wiki... https://en.wikipedia....t_Cries_for_You Also, the Guy Mitchell record did sell a Million. If you love Porgy, you may not want to listen to this!!!
  10. This may help.... Some interesting replies.
  11. I was also watching this. Thought I might bid if the the price was right. However, what limited my bid was in the detail of the postage instructions. Customs Declaration of THE FULL AMOUNT!! Using the figures where I got caught on that with a lower value disc, it could add £12 handling charge and about 20% tax = £240. Postage quoted at $44 (£30). Total add to the selling price - £255. I assume the buyer was aware and that it isn't a nasty shock when the little notice pops through the door rather than the disc. I'm happy to be proved wrong if someone knows differetly and I got the wrong end of the stick
  12. Yes, I would say so. The arrow overlaps the centre hole. On the later one's, it doesn't. Cheers KB
  13. I think there was a 2nd UK issue. The first has the LARGER arrow on the left. The second has a smaller arrow. Not obvious at first glance. Cheers Kev Bod
  14. Hope this fits the thread. Eddie Holland did Leaving Here on Motown. Later covered by Motorhead as a single. Cheers Kev Bod https://youtu.be/Gqd7wNExd_4 https://youtu.be/UACHGAjB8Yk
  15. (Dunno why it's popped up twice!!)
  16. Bob, It looks like you're right. Check these couple of links Cheers Kev Bod https://www.dcsoulrec...ndex.php?id=282 https://www.tinybarge.../Tidewater.html
  17. WOW!! What a buzzzz that was hearing again. Best crimbo prezzie, thanks to the Wombourne Santa. It reminds you of why you got into the whole thing in the first place. Great venue, great times, mad people, unforgetable adventures that are scary to recall. Even if you felt like something the dog had sicked up, you always made the effort to wring the last bit out of the night and get on the floor for those last few tunes. Cheers Pete. All the best Kev Bod
  18. always liked Bella Delana. (Never worked out the "add youtube" thing !)
  19. The only 2 Patti Labelle records I've got !
  20. Thanks for the replies. I'd be interested to know if anybody has been playing it recently to create enough interest to sell for that amount. Any other records on the label?
  21. Ther seller also put a FULL sound file of both sides. The other side has more than a passing resemblence to Tom Jones - It's not unusual !!
  22. I spotted this on eBay the other week and checked the sound file. I liked it and thought I'd give it a go if it was cheap. None on popsike to check against. The Counts - It takes a bunch a lovin - "Always IN Sounds" label It went for $854 !!! Any info on this one? I've probably been living under a stone and you lot are all on the look out for it!!. Cheers Kev Bod
  23. Also, in addition to the things on Pete's list, Earl Jackson - Soul Self Satisfaction - ABC George Clinton - Please don't run - ABC (UK was the only 45 issue as original LP only?) Creative Source - Don't be afraid (again, orig LP Only I think) The "Right-On" issues - Jelly Beans, The Crow, etc.. The MCA things - Rubin, Lee Roye, Jean Carter Adams Apples on Brunswick Kev Bod
  24. Pete, I was 2nd highest bidder on this. Oddly enough, we bid the EXACT same amount - $128.88. However, because your bid was 1 second earlier than mine, you won. I didn't go any higher as I did have concerns over the lack of feedback Lucky escape for me by 1 second. Hope you get the money back All the best Kev Bod
  25. Hi Tim, I think you're right. As I recall, Pep and Ian "The Barber" Tyrer played this at "The Laf" covered up as "The Anderson Brothers". Then seemed to pop up all over the place. In the late 70's/early 80's, Pep bought lot's of new releases to sell to us lot which went on to become well regarded. Including, Prince Phillip Mitchell - I'm So Happy, Tyrone Barclay - Man of Value. Most of us at the time bought loads of them - mostly good but a few crapper's!! Cheers Kev Bod.
