  1. Hi Paul, Yes, I'd like a real one as well!! Just done a bit more checking..... Sticks Evans aka Samuel Smith was also a drummer as well as arranger. He was apparently a drummer in Joey Dee's band, the Starlighters.
  2. Not sure if this has been covered before, if so, please post a link to the thread, thanks. I've noticed that there seems to be 2 label variations on KKC - Philly Dog Around the World. One credits "Stick Evans" as arranger and the other doesn't. Any information on this? Are the both originals? I know that the 1970's dark blue Boot has the dodgy sound bit towards the end but looks like a proper one. Also, what valuation would you attach to an original? All the best, Kev Bodley
  3. Hi, Here's a scan of the back cover of the Hesitations - Soul Superman LP. Botton left corner there is seperate box with a logo and "A Pied Piper-GWP Production". It looks like a fancy "K" as a record deck playing a record. It is the same as the badge on the hat in the KAPP Logo so might not be specific to Pied Piper. Good luck, hope something turns up. Kev Bod.
  4. This was definitely one of those "had to be there at the time" records from WigWam. Still like it for the memories. Also one that could not be described as "just right for todays scene". Also known as "Love Muscle"!! Enjoy (I think!) Kev Bod
  5. Not keen on the dressing up bit. I don't think too many people can pull it off today. As someone else said, it kind of looks like an extreme caricature. But each to their own. Live and let live. By the way, here's an advert for some originals. I think I've got a blank order form from the Casino somewhere. Cheers
  6. It looks like someone has messed about with a Brian Hyland demo of something or other. check out the writers and Stan Applebaum arrangement on the "Sealed with a Kiss" scan. https://www.45cat.com/record/4510336
  7. Hi Ricky, Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find any info. That DEMO going for about £10 seems a bargain!! I've got a tatty Brazillian copy (plays at 33 1/3 ) and saw an nice condition UK copy which I picked up from eBay very cheaply. Thanks Kev Bod
  8. Hi Folks, Looking for opinions on the value of Shirley Brown - I can't give you up - UK Stax. Cheers Kev Bod
  9. E.G. I didn't know about this Kim Weston - You Hit Me, track until Robb's post. https://youtu.be/KHlomLGgb38 Cheers
  10. Following on from a post made by RobbK in the Judy Highes thread. There are Jobete songs that were recorded and released by non-Motown/label artists. However, perhaps some of these songs may have been recorded by Motown artists and could be lurking on tapes in the archives. 1. Can any of you list any non-Motown Jobete songs. and 2. Perhaps suggest Motown artists you would like to uncover an unreleased version by. 3. Have these archives already been checked over many times (in which case, end of thread!) I'd be interested at least!! (and my Motown knowledge is limited) Cheers KB
  11. Thanks for that RobbK, I'll try to track some of those down to have a listen. Also, very interesting to think of the potential non-Motown Jobete songs lurking in the archive's on tape. It would make an interesting thread to list non-Motown Jobete songs. I might start one. Cheers Kev Bod.
  12. What are you talking about Pete? That ship is unsinkable. Quality engineering and there's nothing to bump into on that route. Anyway, I hadn't seen the clip before and thought it was a groovy bit of 60's tele to highlight. The host reminded me of the bloke doing the presenting in the Grease film. By the way, good to see you yesterday, sad that we only all get together at things like that. Cheers
  13. Just noticed this on Youtube. Judy Hughes performs both sides of the record. Former Judy Street cover-up from years ago. Interesting that it was added by Al Capps.
  14. Ian, Can Nicky and I add our condolences to the very many that have already been expressed by your friends. I think that there were numerous people, too many to count, who benefited from Helen and your kindness over the years, and who took shelter under her wings at some time. I certainly had a lot to thank you both for on a particular occasion when we made a visit to the 100 club in the 80's. You both made sure that we were safe and, using your network of and contacts, got us all back to Wolverhampton. I'm not sure what the guy from the RAC made of his passengers that Sunday. I'll see you on the 26th. Call us at any time, day or night, if you just need to talk. Anytime. Love to you and Ryan. From Bod and Nicky.
  15. Hello Mick, Thanks for posting the information. Nicola and I will be attending. Regards Kev Bod
  16. Hi, I started a little thread about this - last year I think. Sheila turned out to be Sheila B Devotion of "Spacer" and "Singinin' in the Rain" disco hits fame. She had an intersting career. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheila_(singer) Always liked the "Ye Ye girl" phrase - very 60's!! Cheers
  17. Here's a european issue of "I can't stand it" that I have. I've copied the record and pic cover to give as much info as possible. Also, if it helps, they also have a track on a UK Compilation LP I have called "Groov'y Baby". Track 5 on side 1. Good luck to Mr and Mrs Chambers. Kev Bodley
  18. Porgy & Monarchs - My Heart Cries for You - Musicor. Interesting infor on Wiki... https://en.wikipedia....t_Cries_for_You Also, the Guy Mitchell record did sell a Million. If you love Porgy, you may not want to listen to this!!!
  19. This may help.... Some interesting replies.
  20. I was also watching this. Thought I might bid if the the price was right. However, what limited my bid was in the detail of the postage instructions. Customs Declaration of THE FULL AMOUNT!! Using the figures where I got caught on that with a lower value disc, it could add £12 handling charge and about 20% tax = £240. Postage quoted at $44 (£30). Total add to the selling price - £255. I assume the buyer was aware and that it isn't a nasty shock when the little notice pops through the door rather than the disc. I'm happy to be proved wrong if someone knows differetly and I got the wrong end of the stick
  21. Yes, I would say so. The arrow overlaps the centre hole. On the later one's, it doesn't. Cheers KB
  22. I think there was a 2nd UK issue. The first has the LARGER arrow on the left. The second has a smaller arrow. Not obvious at first glance. Cheers Kev Bod
  23. Hope this fits the thread. Eddie Holland did Leaving Here on Motown. Later covered by Motorhead as a single. Cheers Kev Bod https://youtu.be/Gqd7wNExd_4 https://youtu.be/UACHGAjB8Yk
  24. (Dunno why it's popped up twice!!)
