  1. I really REALLY like all Darrell Banks stuff and found the story of his life, death and the grave stone so, so interesting. I have all his records, most in a couple of format's (Demo, Issue, UK, USA etc). I'd like to add a nice London Issue but the chances are, well, BLEAK! (I would pay a fair bit Nick if you're interested ) The backing track pop's up a few times on different songs and I'd love to know if this was the first and others were using the track of a successful record or if this was a copy. Anyway, the thing I always found interesting having read various accounts of "who wrote it" was that Darrell was NEVER credited with writing anything else either good bad or indifferent. I guess you could say it leads you to think it's therefore unlikely his one and only song writing attempt was such a fantastic tune OR he only had 1 song in him and it was a real CRACKER! Kev Bod
  2. Re Tan Geers on eBay - from memory, the seller was going for FULL VALUE customs dec which would add 20%.
  3. Here's a couple Dave, The issue label isn't quite as nice condition as the demo. Let me know if they are OK or if you want them e-mailing Regards Kev Bod
  4. Very sad news. Helped me out a couple of times by bidding on my behalf and acting as postman with USA eBay sellers who would not post to the UK. He had also got the hang of the British sense of humour on here - sometimes! Enjoyed reading many of his post's. RIP Kev Bod
  5. I think JM got about £200 on his auction for a Demo a couple of years ago. I remember because I got one on eBay about 2 months later for less than 1/2 that (which is about the right price IMHO). I think the Yellow looks the best.
  6. AgggHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I was watching that. Was willing to put up with the dimples
  7. I had a Marke Jackson - I'll Never Forget You, Jamie Demo for £2. The seller had bought it in the early/mid 70's (when he DJ'ed) and assumed it was a Boot due to the general crappy apearence of the black & white print and it hadn't cost him much at the time! I already had an issue but couldn't leave it behind.
  8. Check out this one that finished on 1/6/2014 - $660 !!!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Northern-Soul-45-Turley-Richards-Feel-All-Right-Columbia-Promo-LISTEN-/360928447121?pt=Music_on_Vinyl Well excessive IMHO.
  9. An original finished at £500 on the John Manship auction that ended on 21/5/2014 !!!!!! The 2 high bidders must have assumed it was an original. It would have been worth checking into more if the seller had listed a £500 orig in amongst all the other boot's and re-issued listed at the same time. Kind regards, A careful West Midlander!! (occasionally referred to as TIGHT as a duck's ......)
  10. Perhaps Peg Leg Moffet -" The Shocker" would be "just right for now" https://youtu.be/R0K538-3aYw
  11. Linda Lyndell - Bring you love back to me. at about 24 seconds "I'll be right there, I'll have your pipe and slippers right by your chair"!! Wow, rock'n'roll life style! That sort of promise will certainly win her man back https://youtu.be/4UCOxFl71v0
  12. That didn't hang about too long at £400 !! As I said in post 16, I would have thought it would be snapped even at £500. Dead Cert for a rapid sale at £400.
  13. I can only see 1 proper copy on popsike - sold for £232 in 2012. The rest look like the "re-issue" to me. I know popsike only captures a sample of sales, but it's a fair indication of the general level of "traffic". Interesting when you check some other oldies. You can get 2 or 3 pages of them selling for £600, £700....£1000. I think this is a fantastic tune. It was a favorite when I first heard it in the 70's and remains so. (If anyone put a copy up for sale at £500, I doubt it would hang about for too long)
  14. Always stuck in my mind for some reason.... Billy Watkins - Iceman. Full of innuendo. e.g. at 36 seconds "They love the way I move about, I don't make a mess I get in and out"!!!! (p.s. sorry if this is too early in the thread to be at this base level. Please delete if see fit!) edited just so you get the start at 36 secs
  15. 78 bids on the Cashmeres !!!!!!!!!! Is that the most bids ever on a single item?
  16. Williams & Watson - Too Late/Two for the price of One Paul Smith - I'll run/Ain't that something
  17. Here's mine. Not rare or valuable I'm sure. This was one of my fav's in the 70's. Also have a stateside demo!! Cheers Kev Bod
  18. This White demo on eBay has "Steal Away" on both sides. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Johnnie-Taylor-45-Steal-Away-Stax-STA-0068-White-Label-Promo-/271418315119?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item3f31cad16f I've never seen a White demo of Friday Night - but never been looking for one in particular. Great song. Kev Bod
  19. When I bought a record via eBay from this chap after what was a very aggresive set of messages, it arrived with his business card enclosed. As if he was expecting me to give him a call for a nice chat. I've had it on my notice board for 4 years so I never forget (as if you could). Remarkable attitude.
  20. Here you go. Just so you can re-live those happy Sunday afternoon's!!!! All the best Kev Bod
  21. This person sold a copy of Yvonne Vernee which finished on 22nd March 2014 for $1,792. The name was slightly wrong on the eBay ad. (I didn't win that) and no feedback yet so hope all is ok for the buyer. cheers Kev Bod
  22. This is on popsike from 2011 with similar description... https://www.popsike.com/Don-Gardner-Cheatin-Kind-on-Sedgrick-nothern-soul-nm/260812377756.html No feedback for the item in sellers profile from 2011 either positive or neg. The centre of the 2 records have a different background. Not sure what all that means (if anything !!) KB
  23. Hi SoulBoy Mike!! Right On Brother. KTF
