  1. Thanks for putting this up Pete. This was the last but 1 night I went. I think the playlist gives a good sample of a typical "oldies" night at Wigan. Even someone who had only been into it for a week would have been familiar as some of the playlist featured in the pop charts. Usually, no room on the dance floor until late on. I always get a picture in my mind of an oldies night of Keith blasting his way through the crowd with his record box on his shoulder!! By the way Soulstu, I have many happy memories of the Feathers. Late 70's onwards it was run by my good mate's mom, Carol Ellitts. Paul (Beanhead) and I would on occasions be put in charge of "catering" on saturdays after an oldies night - good job health and safety hadn't been invented. Also, lot's of folks met up there 1 night before Wigan (I think) and P**l S*****n had "borrowed" a very large canister of Nitrous Oxide and attempts were made to release said gas in the Snug!! Cheers
  2. I Like buying records "I like it alot!!" https://youtu.be/28GLa9T2CtI Personally, I treat it as money "spent" rather than money I'll get back. Gone and never to be seen again. And only buy things I want to own for good.

  4. Not really an expert on this type of stuff, but a couple you may like are: - The Dells - It's all up to you... https://youtu.be/qWJuvsQJlms Cheryl Berdell - Giving it all to you.. https://youtu.be/fKni4PUSxu4 Charles Johnson - Never had a love... https://youtu.be/73m0pVjD2XI Hope that helps a little Kev Bod
  5. I think the Skull Snaps LP at number 33 on the list must be some sort of Highest Ever Paid at $515
  6. They mention Darrell performing on the TV show American Bandstand. Is there any way to search their archive to perhaps get to see him performing? Would love to see that. Kev Bod
  7. Yes Pete, Thanks. (1 Mercury seemed to have sneaked in!!)
  8. Cheers Pete, I usually just look at the first page - recent additions. Can I filter it so there is just the stateside showing?
  9. Agreed!! Would it be worth a try for SS members to post scans of all the Northern/Soul Stateside demo's on this thread or a gallery type thread?
  10. I really REALLY like all Darrell Banks stuff and found the story of his life, death and the grave stone so, so interesting. I have all his records, most in a couple of format's (Demo, Issue, UK, USA etc). I'd like to add a nice London Issue but the chances are, well, BLEAK! (I would pay a fair bit Nick if you're interested ) The backing track pop's up a few times on different songs and I'd love to know if this was the first and others were using the track of a successful record or if this was a copy. Anyway, the thing I always found interesting having read various accounts of "who wrote it" was that Darrell was NEVER credited with writing anything else either good bad or indifferent. I guess you could say it leads you to think it's therefore unlikely his one and only song writing attempt was such a fantastic tune OR he only had 1 song in him and it was a real CRACKER! Kev Bod
  11. Re Tan Geers on eBay - from memory, the seller was going for FULL VALUE customs dec which would add 20%.
  12. Here's a couple Dave, The issue label isn't quite as nice condition as the demo. Let me know if they are OK or if you want them e-mailing Regards Kev Bod
  13. Very sad news. Helped me out a couple of times by bidding on my behalf and acting as postman with USA eBay sellers who would not post to the UK. He had also got the hang of the British sense of humour on here - sometimes! Enjoyed reading many of his post's. RIP Kev Bod
  14. I think JM got about £200 on his auction for a Demo a couple of years ago. I remember because I got one on eBay about 2 months later for less than 1/2 that (which is about the right price IMHO). I think the Yellow looks the best.
  15. AgggHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I was watching that. Was willing to put up with the dimples
  16. I had a Marke Jackson - I'll Never Forget You, Jamie Demo for £2. The seller had bought it in the early/mid 70's (when he DJ'ed) and assumed it was a Boot due to the general crappy apearence of the black & white print and it hadn't cost him much at the time! I already had an issue but couldn't leave it behind.
  17. Check out this one that finished on 1/6/2014 - $660 !!!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Northern-Soul-45-Turley-Richards-Feel-All-Right-Columbia-Promo-LISTEN-/360928447121?pt=Music_on_Vinyl Well excessive IMHO.
  18. An original finished at £500 on the John Manship auction that ended on 21/5/2014 !!!!!! The 2 high bidders must have assumed it was an original. It would have been worth checking into more if the seller had listed a £500 orig in amongst all the other boot's and re-issued listed at the same time. Kind regards, A careful West Midlander!! (occasionally referred to as TIGHT as a duck's ......)
  19. Perhaps Peg Leg Moffet -" The Shocker" would be "just right for now" https://youtu.be/R0K538-3aYw
  20. Linda Lyndell - Bring you love back to me. at about 24 seconds "I'll be right there, I'll have your pipe and slippers right by your chair"!! Wow, rock'n'roll life style! That sort of promise will certainly win her man back https://youtu.be/4UCOxFl71v0
  21. That didn't hang about too long at £400 !! As I said in post 16, I would have thought it would be snapped even at £500. Dead Cert for a rapid sale at £400.
  22. I can only see 1 proper copy on popsike - sold for £232 in 2012. The rest look like the "re-issue" to me. I know popsike only captures a sample of sales, but it's a fair indication of the general level of "traffic". Interesting when you check some other oldies. You can get 2 or 3 pages of them selling for £600, £700....£1000. I think this is a fantastic tune. It was a favorite when I first heard it in the 70's and remains so. (If anyone put a copy up for sale at £500, I doubt it would hang about for too long)
  23. Always stuck in my mind for some reason.... Billy Watkins - Iceman. Full of innuendo. e.g. at 36 seconds "They love the way I move about, I don't make a mess I get in and out"!!!! (p.s. sorry if this is too early in the thread to be at this base level. Please delete if see fit!) edited just so you get the start at 36 secs
