Hello, Just checked my demo which has a scratched in matrix similar to yours but mine has 1E on both sides. My Demo of Quitter Never Wins also has a scratched in matrix. Someone told me their copy of Seven Souls was a scratched in matrix. Looks OK to me

Thanks for the replies so far. Just a few to go. Thanks

Hello Steve, Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I'll see if there are any further replies over the weekend and get in touch if I want to buy. All the best KB

I like Tim's auction system as there are no extensions to end time. Just bid what you are willing (not going to say happy!) to pay and away you go. All auction systems have the advantages and disadvantages. The key point is to have a poke around in the rules and get up-to speed with how it works. It's nice to know the end prices, as with Tim's system, you don't get chance to see.

Nice one Phil, Thanks for posting the results.

Hello All, I've decided to try to finish off the run of old Grapevine 45's. I'm looking for nice clean copies with their middle's intact. Either Issue or Demo. Please PM with what you have for sale and a set sale price. I'm not in a rush as it's taken over 35 years to get round to! Cheers Kev Bod Grapevine Label Records GRP 127 De Lites - Lover GRP 132 Sam & Kitty - I’ve Got Something Good GRP 136 Al Williams - I Am Nothing GRP 138 Lester Tipton - This Won’t Change GRP 141 Dena Barnes - If You Ever Walked... GRP 144 New Wanderers - This Man in Love GRP 145 Duke Browner - Crying Over You GRP 146 Kaddo Strings - Nothing but Love

I know nothing !! But... I remember in the 70's being told that some of the Black Issues were "re-issues" and some were "proper". This may have been assumed as there were always copies about. Anyhow, on that basis, I got a demo (which I think looks better anyway). I've just checked the JM site and he has one for sale with the comments.. Genuine authentic 1966 stamped matrix, thin vinyl first press - of this Golden Torch Northern Soul anthem - classic early 70s spin - repeat .this copy is the genuine original press! So, I wouldn't be surprised either way. KB

I came across this book today while looking for something else. "The Record Players" is a book that came out in 2010. It features interviews with various DJ's from different era's and styles. I hadn't come across this before and enjoyed reading the chapters on "Farmer" Carl Dene, Kev Roberts, Ian Levine and Ian Dewhirst. Kev and Ian being members on here. I thought I'd post a link in case anyone fancies having a look. Cheers Kev Bod https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=CCHy-FcMP1EC&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false

Best buy for me was a Towanda Barnes -" You Don't Mean It" Brown Issue. I was the only bidder for it on eBay. Not a cheap opening bid but, advertised under "Rock". I'd always wanted an Issue.

Or, as Mary said to Joseph, "My Baby Came From Out of Nowhere"

By today's standards it isn't very good. But imagine a time and place far far away where "My hearts Symphony", "Nine Times Out of Ten", "Wait a Minute" and "Joe 90" were played and danced to.......

So how many dj on here with bootlegs and re-issue vinyl?
Bo Diddley replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
It looks to me as if the thread starter is referring to Original Vinyl Only do's as a Chinstrokers get together, for those who appreciate the obscure with little regard for the ability of the attendees to dance to said records. Whereas you can also go out to a night where every record played is a "top 500", "battered to death" oldie that everybody can dance to, BUT played from Original Vinyl. Incidentally, some of those records played at the Chinstroking Festival where nobody can dance to them very often are played at the Battered to death Oldies nights 5 years later - played from Boots. Just my opinion -
I love Columbo and particularly the Patrick McGoohan ones. I was less keen when he returned to the scene many years later and had become a caricature of the original. Hmmm, that sounds familiar.

Hi Rod, They all have the same description of the vinyl which is "Near Mint". None of them seem to have been "well loved" by previous owners. Incidentally, can someone mention to the seller that you spell it "Excellent". Personally, I'm past caring about it now. I wouldn't buy "pretend/repo" furniture and I wouldn't buy "pretend/repo" records. I did get wound up at one time, particularly when one such seller listed a record with a copied label of one I had bought about 6-12 months earlier. It had the same WOL !! (Edit - I've just checked and it's the same seller who sold the record with a copy label of one of my records. He's changed names)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/112227584267?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I noticed this one and the previous one starting at $2,500. The seller is making a big point about there being NO RETURNS!! The other items he has for sale include various reissues etc which were done for the UK market in the 70's - Bobby Hutton/Willie Hutch, Hoagy Lands, Chuck Wood etc.

THE BLUE SHARKS: THE SOUL SCENE'S LONGEST EVER 'COVER-UP'?
Bo Diddley replied to Gene-r's topic in Look At Your Box
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'll be telling me next that Lenny Gamble wasn't really Lenny Gamble. -
There was a whole thread on the Patti Austin record on 3rd November.

Paul, Try asking these "experts" what ISN'T Proper and ask for examples. Might be interesting It all seems "proper" to me.

Volcanoes - Laws of Love reissue/boot for £84. Early bidding was between 2 who had low(ish) feedback so I assume they thought it was an original. The winner, with a "snipe"has feedback of over 1,200 !! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351895037774?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I was considering trading/selling a bunch of about 30+ of these things I bought in the 70's. The guy offered £300 which wasn't an insult by any means but I decided to keep them for sentimental reasons AND it looked like a big bundle of records for the price of a decent original! With things like this Volcanos and the Robert Thomas mentioned above, it might be worth having a think about getting rid of them. (p.s. - I'm certainly NOT having a "pop" at the guy who offered £300)

So when did "Sunshine Pop" first start getting played?
Bo Diddley replied to El Corol's topic in Look At Your Box
I'm surprised we are 25 replies into the thread before Samantha Jones - "Surrounded By A Ray Of Sunshine" gets a mention! -
There's one on ebay which finishes in about 5 days which will give you a fair idea.

Articles: Wigan Chosen Few TOTP Tape Exists ?
Bo Diddley replied to Mike's topic in Front Page News & Articles
I think it was covered as Odd Billy and The Bad Boys. Possibly a Russ spin but not sure. I've seen the TOTP clip now. It's strange how the memory plays tricks as I don't remember it just being gymnastics out of step with the music. Anyway, here is a clip of the original Chosen Few. They left the TOTP set saying they wanted to dance to something with more musical integrity. No accounting for taste. -

Sorry, the bad news is..... -
That order sounds logical to me. Also, it would mean my copy was before the grey.
