I've always thought the Jimmy Webb was the same as J. Webb who wrote Shane Martin's "I Need You". Jim Webb also released his version. I may be wrong and would be happy to be corrected.

I've always thought it sounded a bit like Carl Carlton when he sang "Competition....". Not saying it is him, but possibly a young singer.

Here's a scan of my copy that I bought from Max in about 1977/78 with the card sleeve with his writing on. It was in one of those box's that we had all picked over time and time again and had been left behind after he'd sold the bulk of his stuff. He'd played it at the Cat's ! It still has a little tape residue around the run-out from where the label was covered up.

Also, here's an Argentinian Larry Santos ! The thing with some of the South American singles is that they are 33 rpm which looks weird when they're playing

Following on from the current "Night" thread and the Australian copy above, here's a Dutch copy on Rare Earth..

On one of visit, possibly late 1977/early 1978, a mate and I got there very early and I remember seeing one of those fluro-orange posters outside advertising Billy Butler as a guest

Interesting to see that Roger Daltrey is to release an album which includes a cover of Garnet Mims - As long As I have You. He was on Chris Evans breakfast show this week to promote it. Prefer Garnet studio version personally ! I'm not sure what else will be included

Here's a print of the page Kev Bod Chubby Checker You Don't Know ( What You Do To Me Girl ) / Two Hearts Make One Love Cameo Parkway : P 965 DJ Artist: Chubby Checker A Side: You Don't Know ( What You Do To Me Girl ) B Side: Two Hearts Make One Love Label: Cameo Parkway Format: 45s Condition Vinyl Condition:M- Label Condition:M- Sleeve Condition:M- Key: View Help £1,283.00 £1.00 £11.00 14/03/2018 18:00 This auction has ended. A spectacular copy of Britain's "Most Wanted", I cannot imagine we'll ever be able to offer a finer copy. This one is truly immaculate, surely a crowning moment for all UK Soul collections. Remembering this Northern Soul classic was never issued in the USA and to make things even more challenging for the serious NS hunter. In the USA it was only promo'd as a styrene DJ copy in California & a solitary vinyl test-press file copy for the Cameo archives on the East Coast (only 1 copy known) So when a flawless Brit-legend surfaces in invincible condition as the legendary misspelled title "You Don't Know ( What You Do To Me Girl )" omitting the "Just" from the title; it is a listing every dedicated Northern Soul will sit up and notice. A Northern Soul anthem, in it's most desirable, most durable most spectacular form. Do not pass by, opportunities like this to acquire near perfection of an iconic 45, do not present themselves much more than once in a lifetime. You really "Just Don't Know" when you'll see another" For NS historical reference, this Northern Soul anthem was first discovered by Brian Tompkins who ran the "George" at Wilby near Wellingborough and also the legendary "Bletsoe" allnighter, a once sleepy village in Bedfordshire. Glen Ballamy was the first DJ to play It at Bletsoe circa 1970 -72. Condition Report This 45 is in knee-trembling condition! As near perfection as you could ever dream of owning. An irresistible Mint - / Mint - throughout. A Side Title: You Don't Know ( What You Do To Me Girl ) B Side Title: Two Hearts Make One Love Year: 1965 City: United Kingdom

Thanks for that Gareth My demo has the ✤ (as below) and sounds fine, although my wife claims I'm deaf I checked on youtube and found 2 posts by John Manship of the different pressings. To me, the one with the ✤ sounds better than the one with ◆. However, as mentioned, I am selectively deaf.

Hi Pete, I do like the idea of this but as I'm not on Facebook, I can't see the page or participate. Any chance that we could have a Soul Source version type thread? The " comedy sale of the day" thread is still going strong after all this time!! Cheers Kev Bod

The Vel-Vets I’ve got to find me somebody
Bo Diddley replied to Neal Bull's topic in Look At Your Box
Yes Neal, There are original demo's in vinyl. All the standard issues I've seen have all been styrene. I seem to remember this coming up before on the site, so perhaps try to check past topics. Cheers KB
