  1. I do like the French Fries - Danse A La Musique" but understand lot's of folks don't! However, the B side must take some beating in this category. Have a listen. It's BAD.
  2. He also appeared in in the film version of Porridge!
  3. Agreed, also "Construction" seemed to really suit being played at Station Road. (p.s. I have both "10 miles high" and "Hey little way out girl". They don't come close to being the most guilty of "guilty pleasures" in my record collection!!! I feel much better now I've said that)
  4. Glad you found it. I didn't realise that was a thing - humming into Google!!!
  5. Is it possibly this one? (not eighties but sort of fits the description!)
  6. I think it's a difficult one to fix a price. There are a fair few about BUT, very often, they are "tatty/well used/kicked around a warehouse floor" type things - also know as "OK for DJing with! I've seen plenty of lower grade one's go for £500 to £1,000. I'm sure that a nice copy such as yours would coax out a MUCH better price. So, an auction would be the most likely best option. Lot's of people are happy to pay a high premium for a top copy. With regard to John Bowie, I remember in the late 1970's when someone on a trip to USA came back with LOADS - just like Frank Beverly on Sassy. Pep was selling them at something like £4. So, to see these at current values is incredible
  7. Stoned Love is one of my favorites! I've never seen a black vinyl one. Not sure why, but the LONG version has 1969 on the label and the other side (SHORT version) has 1970.
  8. Hi, I'm still looking for: - Major Lance - Monkey Time - Columbia DEMO. I have posted this previously but thought a new thread may get more attention than another post in an old thread. Please get in touch if you have one for sale. Thanks
  9. We seem to doing OK. There are dozens of Sparrows and Dunnocks. I made a few more nest boxes for the Blue Tits early this year and 2 of them had residents! So there are also lots of both Blue and Great Tits. Sadly, a Sparrow Hawk has also worked this out! There was a Green Woodpecker who bought the new addition to the family. This was a month or so ago. The Hedgehogs seem to have moved on. I think they got the hump when we stopped putting Dried Mealworms out. I think we do OK with the wildlife as we put lots of food out. I was thinking about doing a pond but couldn't decide. Wildlife Pond people (Joel Ashton does lots on youtube) seem to want to avoid having pumps. But, I'm not so keen on having a swamp at the end of the garden. ANY ADVICE?
  10. Just another quick "bump" to remind folks the event is CANCELLED! Apparently, the roof problems were caused by the Lead being pinched!
  11. Hi, I posted a scan of my copy in the previous thread. However, may as well add to this one so they are all in the same place. On mine, they went slightly "rogue" and used a red pen with dashes between the numbers !
  12. Hi All, We have just been contacted by the venue. Apparently, part of the roof has given way/collapsed and rain has been coming in. Therefore, they have cancelled the event as repairs cannot be guaranteed to be completed prior to the 20th. Please accept our apologies. We were all looking forward to another night at the Town Hall. We are looking at an alternative date to fit in prior to the October event already in the diary and on the Soul Source event calendar. Thanks for your understanding.
  13. I came across this on youtube and it made me smile! Any members who are not happy with what their boss or customer asks them to do could email them a link to the video. Also, perhaps imagine any politicians who are no-longer employed saying this to the press! p.s. - It's also worth checking out some of the other tracks on the channel
  14. I'd forgotten about this. Genuinely great set of songs and videos. Really enjoyable. Thanks @Mike
  15. Hi @Robbk I was just having a look and John Manship current auction items and your old thread came to mind!! https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/james-brown-bobby-byrd-fight-against-drug-abuse-fight-against-drug-abuse-king-psa-1-dj.html I know it's 7 years too late, but is this what you were thinking about James Brown / Bobby Byrd - Fight Against Drug Abuse / Fight Against Drug Abuse - King PSA 1 DJ James Brown / Bobby Byrd Fight Against Drug Abuse (James Brown) / Fight Against Drug Abuse (Bobby Byrd) King: PSA 1 DJ Artist: James Brown / Bobby Byrd A Side: Fight Against Drug Abuse (James Brown) B Side: Fight Against Drug Abuse (Bobby Byrd) Label: King Format: 45s Condition Vinyl Condition:M- Label Condition:M- Sleeve Condition:M- 03/07/2024 18:00 UK TIME Promo only "Public Service Announcement" 45s, one of James's rarest singles. Apparently only promoted by Starday-King Records, Inc. mail out exclusively to "Black Radio Stations". Incredibly elusive and in flawless condition. In repetitive "Trumpian" style JB preaches in "Drugs Are Super Bad, Super Bad, Super Bad, Super Bad..." On the flip Bobby Byrd, repeats the message over a proper hard hitting FUNK rhythms track. Ideal for Breaks, Beats and comping... both the menacing vocal and the edgy music begging to be utilized. For the serious JB collector this is hard to find, in mint condition very hard. Condition Report Two clean promo labels, full gloss mint minus vinyl, still housed in birth-sleeve. 16. I have a Demo, but the red star is ABOVE the CG-268 number on the left side! So, that's an additional one to those listed on Discogs.
  17. Hi All, Still looking for Major Lance - Monkey Time - Columbia DEMO. Please get in touch if you have one to sell. Please include condition and price. Thanks
  18. John Andrews - It's Just Love..
  19. Carl Douglas - Serving A Sentence... (I was going to include Baby Washington, Get a hold of Yourself, but it's also on a VEEP USA LP)
  20. Thanks for the reply. It does seem to be very scarce. If you decide to release Tony back into the wild, let me know!!
  21. Agreed - very nice! What country does it come from? Italy, Canada??
  22. Whenever I've been successful on John's auction, I paid the winning bid plus postage. With those Omega auctions that run occasionally, you end up paying an additional 28.8% (ish!!). In that situation, if you will go as high as say £500, your highest bid would be £388 (£500 divided by 1.28). Equally, if you win an item for £500, you'll pay £644 (£500 multiplied by 1.28). Hope that helps. KB
  23. Just as a reference or bit of additional information, I have this Temptations British Test Press of TMG 633. It is vinyl and has the raised KT mark on the center and correct machine stamps on both sides. There's no sign of LPFB on it. There doesn't seem to be much demand or value in these. I got this from eBay a few years ago for a couple of pounds. I don't think anyone else bid.
  24. Hi Tim, I have this ZTSP one which is Styrene. Is that the one you wanted to know about? If not, sorry for butting in!! Cheers, Kev Bod
  25. I like to buy Canadian records occasionally. I'm sure that I was watching a few items from a Canadian seller, very recently, that included one of these. The starting bid was $50. It didn't sell on first listing. When they relisted, I think it went for the minimum bid of $50. If you like classic records on something a little different, they're nice to pick up. However, it doesn't seem to be a big market with mass appeal. Cheers
