  1. I've picked up 3 of the 4 items I've bid on from Pat's site in the last 12 months. I was happy with the amounts I bid and was successful with. Some things go way higher than my valuation well in advance of the end date and that means I'm out. That may be because of a high bid or reserve. Not bothered which! If it's a high reserve I treat it the same as someone posting a set sale item at a price I think is too high. Cheers KB

Hi All, I always find it a bit odd when promoters review their own events, but let's give it a go and embrace the discomfort! The night went well, as have the previous nights at Bilston Town Hall. The staff provided by the venue (bar staff, door guardians, sound engineer) are first class - pleasant, helpful and friendly. As I've mentioned before, the venue itself is clean, smart and just perfect for this type of event. The DJs played a mix of music. This included some classic, familiar sounds, less familiar sounds, 60's, 70's, Crossover, RnB, rare, nor so rare and some absolute top notch BIG Tunes. We were very pleased with how things went. I've allocated 4 stars rather than 5. This is simply because, while there was a decent number in on the night, it would have been nice to see more folks in. Due to the nature of the venue and the people who were there, it still created a fantastic atmosphere. Similar to finding a great place to go on holiday before it gets too crowded! The folks that were there seemed to have a great time and it was nice to get feedback on the night from them to confirm. It was really good to see Soul Source member @Soulmate60 and friends there. They made an enquiry on the pre-event thread and, as promised, attended. They were in early and one of the last to leave, dancing all night! Thanks to you and your friends for making the trip and supporting the event. Seeing people enjoying themselves like that really does make it worth putting these nights on. The next one is in March 2025, so onwards and upwards. I hope you can come along and see what this event is all about. All the best, KB
  3. Apologies for the multiple post but I thought it worth mentioning... The BAR is payment by CARD ONLY. Entry on the DOOR is CASH ONLY. Thanks, KB
  4. Last shout for Bilston this evening. Plus.. you get to stay in bed an extra hour the next day! Hope to see some of you there. It's likely that I'll be taking the cash on the door, so please say hello.
  5. IT DOES!! (I don't think this is the worst either. Plenty more ahead of it in the queue - Dalton James & Sutton is also in the mix)
  6. It must be just me that likes it then!! "Blue Max" Millward played it at the Catacombs. I bought his copy from the Cats (on 20th May 1980!) in my quest for "something different", that still continues to this day. Admittedly, by that stage, most of Max's old collection had been well and truly picked over with the remainder not being the best. (p.s. I also have a Demo with a picture cover)
  7. Just under a week to go Martyn, has prepared the DJ times Hopefully it will be to everyone's liking 7:30 till 8:20 Peter Best 8:20 till 9:20 Dave Wood + Lou Wood (aka Lou n' Woody) 9:20 till 10.00 Kevin Spittle @Munchkin 10.00 till 11.00 Natalie Nicholls @Natalie89 11.00 - 12.00 Andy Dennison 12.00 - 1.00 Ted Massey @Ted Massey and Kevin Spittle @Munchkin turning the lights off at 1:30 (Apologies as I mentioned Andy Dyson rather than Andy Dennison in an earlier post by mistake. Mr Dyson had been booked for the event we had to cancel and will no doubt be on in 2025)
  8. Still looking for Major Lance - Monkey Time - UK Columbia Demo, Please (I think you lot are just being cruel now, keeping me waiting for so long!!)
  9. We look forward to seeing you. It really is a great venue (I know EVERYBODY says that about their event!!). Smart and clean with an "in-house" speaker system. Also, the venue provide a Sound Engineer. He sits at the back with a mixing desk to keep things as they should be. Here's a photo of things being set up prior to opening time.
  10. Hi, thanks for considering our event. With regard to music policy, the intention is for the Djs selected to play a WIDE range of styles. This is in the "spirit" of Lea Manor. So, there will be "Rare and Under Played" 60's tunes. I'm sure all the DJs, and particularly Andy Dennison Ted Massey @Ted Massey have the experience and records to fit the bill. A few "Oldies" may be played, but not the tired, "same old, same old". So, it's "Yes" to Crossover, 60's, Rare and "Rarely Played" and loads of other categories. But it wont be a night full of oldies. Kev Spittle records the sets "live" and posts them on his Mixcloud account. Most of the DJ sets to date have been posted which you can check out. Feel free to give my set from March a pass as I did include more oldies, but this was just get things going!! Here's Arthur Fenn's set from March 2024
  11. I've had the following update from Kev S: - Just over a week to Lea Manor The Renaissance and things are all coming together. All the DJs are confirmed and ready. We're looking forward to catching up with Ted Massey, and Andy Dennison, and listening to what they have to bring to the decks for your enjoyment. Listened to Natalie Nicholls, a few times of late and she always brings something different. Mr + Mrs Wood, its been a while, but always a pleasure to catch up and listen to you both, be great to have you both back behind the decks.. You can still take advantage of the £7.00 advanced purchase. It's £8 on the night. Fantastic dance floor and sound system as usual at this fantastic, smart venue. Regards, the Renaissance Team
  12. I think as time goes by there are lots of variations and anomalies that come to light. Personally, I wouldn't have noticed many of them and Brice C in particular, without this thread. I'm still amazed at that James/Jimmy McFarland thing that cropped up on here recently (although that wasn't a subtle difference!!)
  13. I think you might be OK. I've checked discogs and Youtube. Please have a look at the Youtube video posted by John Manship in August 2024. There's a still picture at 2mins 09 secs. The label layout looks like yours with printing over the picture of the Green Hand. If you're still concerned, give John a call. He's very helpful and has time for a chat. Good luck. Kev Bod
  14. They are the German and Dutch issues with the picture sleeve. I have a Dutch one. Released in 1972 according to Discogs https://www.discogs.com/master/1306458-Frankie-Valli-The-Four-Seasons-The-Night
  15. I do like the French Fries - Danse A La Musique" but understand lot's of folks don't! However, the B side must take some beating in this category. Have a listen. It's BAD.
  16. He also appeared in in the film version of Porridge!
  17. Agreed, also "Construction" seemed to really suit being played at Station Road. (p.s. I have both "10 miles high" and "Hey little way out girl". They don't come close to being the most guilty of "guilty pleasures" in my record collection!!! I feel much better now I've said that)
  18. Glad you found it. I didn't realise that was a thing - humming into Google!!!
  19. Is it possibly this one? (not eighties but sort of fits the description!)
  20. I think it's a difficult one to fix a price. There are a fair few about BUT, very often, they are "tatty/well used/kicked around a warehouse floor" type things - also know as "OK for DJing with! I've seen plenty of lower grade one's go for £500 to £1,000. I'm sure that a nice copy such as yours would coax out a MUCH better price. So, an auction would be the most likely best option. Lot's of people are happy to pay a high premium for a top copy. With regard to John Bowie, I remember in the late 1970's when someone on a trip to USA came back with LOADS - just like Frank Beverly on Sassy. Pep was selling them at something like £4. So, to see these at current values is incredible
  21. Stoned Love is one of my favorites! I've never seen a black vinyl one. Not sure why, but the LONG version has 1969 on the label and the other side (SHORT version) has 1970.
  22. Hi, I'm still looking for: - Major Lance - Monkey Time - Columbia DEMO. I have posted this previously but thought a new thread may get more attention than another post in an old thread. Please get in touch if you have one for sale. Thanks
  23. We seem to doing OK. There are dozens of Sparrows and Dunnocks. I made a few more nest boxes for the Blue Tits early this year and 2 of them had residents! So there are also lots of both Blue and Great Tits. Sadly, a Sparrow Hawk has also worked this out! There was a Green Woodpecker who bought the new addition to the family. This was a month or so ago. The Hedgehogs seem to have moved on. I think they got the hump when we stopped putting Dried Mealworms out. I think we do OK with the wildlife as we put lots of food out. I was thinking about doing a pond but couldn't decide. Wildlife Pond people (Joel Ashton does lots on youtube) seem to want to avoid having pumps. But, I'm not so keen on having a swamp at the end of the garden. ANY ADVICE?
  24. Just another quick "bump" to remind folks the event is CANCELLED! Apparently, the roof problems were caused by the Lead being pinched!
