  1. Haven't heard from anyone, but needing to shift these to pay a few household bills. Mary Wells reduced to $100, $75 for Little Eva photo.
  2. Reduced to $150 for the Mary Wells and $100 for the Little Eva. I am more than willing to listen to offers as well.
  3. Anyone ever been to Bill's Records in Dallas? None of the records have prices. You have to ask him what he wants for each one. The price he says is the only price. No negotiation. Two hours of browsing was too much.
  4. Hi Everyone, I have a Pickwick U.S. LP in great condition from Mary Wells that is autographed. It was obtained from a chap that owned a black-owned record store and had a radio show in the late 70s/80s in the midwest. I'm asking $200 OBO. I also have a Little Eva signed photograph that was obtained from someone who used to go to concerts back in the day at the nearby casino in Minnesota and got this signed. Lovely signature. I'm asking $150 for this OBO. Please get in touch if you're interested. Cheers.
  5. Someone on a Facebook group I'm a member of posted it. It was 1000% percent better than I would have expected!
  6. I still have mine, but I haven't used it in years, but I would never part with it. I just found the remote for it in a box downstairs and two boxes of minidiscs. I bought one of the early Sony ones that has an optical in and out about the same time I bought a Marantz pro CD recorder. Both still work well!
  7. I'd like to find a U.S. promo in M- condition. Anyone have one they'd sell?
  8. Guitar Center is where i purchased both my Numark USB turntable and my Numark portable. Those Crosley turntables are garbage and have poor needles. However, I have heard the Dansette model is good, as they use an Audio Technica good cartridge.
  9. I also bring the Numark PT-01. I've had the same one since 2007 and upgraded the needle to a diamond needle. I have brought it many times on trips in my suitcase, etc. It runs on 6 D batteries, and I use it a lot at home and in my travels and only change batteries a couple of times a year. I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of it. I much prefer to use the headphones when out and about, as the speaker isn't very loud, but it works well sitting next to me at home.
  10. I'm really bummed to hear the Motown shop closed. I'm glad I was able to visit it when I changed planes in Detroit in 2008.
  11. I'd love to go to this!
  12. I just bought a mint Decca stock copy of this in the States yesterday on 45, so it most definitely exists. It's a good 'un!
  13. Peter, I would consider it. Pm me and we can chat.
  14. I just did a trade with someone yesterday and bagged a few 45s: Willie Mitchell/Up Hard (picture sleeve promo!) 15. Chris, That is one tasty item!
  16. For LPs, I use my VPI record cleaning machine with a bottle of liquid I bought when I bought the 45 RPM kit for it. I put it a smaller amount of the fluid into a water bottle and haven't filled it and have plenty of fluid. For 45s, I have a container of water that I add washing-up liquid into. I have soft car-cleaning cloths. I have one that I put into the water and squeeze off the excess and have one to dry off the water. They really get into the grooves and don't leave behind anything, and I just throw them in the washing machine after they're dirty. For any labels on 45s, I've tried UnDu, which is a glue used for scrapbooking. It didn't work as well as I would have liked, so I stuck it back on the shelf.
  17. @Pete, I concur. I like the Timebox version much better. I am currently sitting on (and they're for sale), a white label Philips promo and blue label stock 45 of the Four Seasons' version, and I haven't been excited enough about it to put it into one of my "keep" boxes.
  18. Do i feel a 70s soul disco revival on the horizon?
  19. Unless a collection has a lot of niche market music (like soul, garage, rockabilly, psych, and other stuff), I tell most people that the larger the collection, the less overall it's worth. It's a different animal altogether and perhaps not a great comparison, but I know of 4 large hordes of LPs and 45s within a 2-hour radius that are full of chud music. The owners think they are sitting on a goldmine. Not.
  20. To circle back to the original article, in addition to doo-wop, there are (at least in the midwest U.S., and likely elsewhere) several genres which are basically impossible to sell. Part of this stems from the economic crash in 2008. Most general rock records (60s/70s), not Beatles or specific genres like psych, garage or rockabilly plummeted when the economy crashed. These records have been bringing 25%-50% or less of what they brought 5 years ago, and this has been further been expanded upon with the latest USPS postage rate increase in January. Also, 50s rock in my part of the world is impossible to sell. By this, I mean Elvis, Ricky Nelson and that sort of stuff. I don't even touch it when offered it. I get calls from people wanting to sell me big band, classical and 50s pop, to which I tell them there's no market and to donate it to a charity. As one woman said to me on the phone: "But they're such wonderful records." I said that may be true, but nobody wants them, and those that have them, are dying off and wanting to get rid of them.
  21. Hi Pete, I picked this one up a few years ago. There are some excellent tracks on it.
  22. I'm curious if there was a lot of unreleased material? Anyone know? Cheers.
  23. I would also add that whenever possible, try (unless it's so rare) to get records in as close to M- condition as you possibly can. They play better, look better, plus if you ever get in a pinch and have to shift any, they'll be much more appealing to others. I would also echo one of the previous posters about some really excellent sounds aren't that expensive. I just picked up a stack of mostly M- 45s last week where a bunch of them were $6 US, a few $8 and none more than $15, and they're all danceable. Cheers.
  24. Excellent tip! F] Learn to appear convincingly deaf when someone want you to play Diana Ross
