Jackie Lee Official Compilation Cd Someday?
Britmusicsoulfan replied to Britmusicsoulfan's topic in All About the SOUL
BillB, Cheers for that. I've got the Dance Favourites compilation, which does sound good, but the occasional LP background noise bugs me, so I'm definitely looking forward to the Ace compilation. BMSF -
Hi All, I was going through some 45s downstairs when I found a couple mint Jackie Lee 45s, which got me wondering... Are Jackie's tapes in some legal limbo? I would've thought there would've been a legitimate compilation by now. Just curious. Thanks, everyone!

Hi All, Wow, just a bit over a month until the Goldsoul event in Chicago in March. Who all is coming from here so far? I'll have several tables at the record show chock a block full of 60s/70s soul, funk, crossover original pressing 45s. I'm sorting through LPs to bring to the show as well. Do a lot of people on here collect LPs/12" or mostly stick to 45s? I've got some mint 70s disco 12", some killer soul LPs, etc. Anyone interested in sealed gospel LPs (the good kind)? I can pop some of them into my boxes. Thanks, everyone. I'm looking forward to this! I wish I could go to the entire event, but my schedule won't work out to be there the entire time. Hello Everyone, I'm not sure how many of you out there have heard much on the Forte Records label out of Kansas City, but I managed to come across a small group of 12-14 unplayed 45s from the label. Marva Whitney was on this label and a lot of other soul stuff. It's one of those labels I'd love to see a compilation of. I did contact Ace Records and received a reply that this is a label they've been wanting to put something out for years but hadn't been able to finalize it. Perhaps Tony Rounce could share some details on this label? There's very little information online. I did have a discography at one point but can't locate it. Thanks, everyone!

Hi All, Just wanted to let everyone know there are new and sealed copies of the Dynovoice 2xCD set Tony Rounce was involved with available on Amazon.com in the marketplace section and likely on the UK site as well. I just picked up a still-sealed, brand-new copy for under $15 US. Cheers, BritMusicSoulFan

After looking a bit around online, I wondered about DynoVoice also. Anyone put together a comp of the soul on the label? BritMusicSoulFan

Hi All, I've really enjoyed quite a few of the Northern Soul/R&B/popcorn releases from the Diamond Records (NYC) label. Has anyone compiled their 45s? I had read online that the label was bought out by another label at one point and the master tapes are presumed to be lost. Many thanks, BritMusicSoulFan

Eddie Hurt - Honey Got My Money Decca 31481
Britmusicsoulfan replied to Britmusicsoulfan's topic in Record Sales
Here's an audio clip. Eddie_Hurt___Honey_Got_My_Money__Sample_.mp3 -
Hi everyone, I've got a very scarce stock copy in an original Decca company sleeve from Eddie Hurt (Decca 31481), a Northern Soul popcorn 45 for Honey Got My Money from Afraid of Love. The labels are M/M-. The 45 visually grades between M- and EX-. There are no scratches, but there is some whitish storage wear on the edges not affecting play. The A side plays M/M- and plays very strong. The b-side lays EX- with a bit of light noise but strong play. Anyone interested? Feel free to pop an offer over. Thank you, BritMusicSoulFan

Hello everyone, I'd like to see if anyone's interested in Sue 794, a white label promo Northern 45 from Baby Washington for Hey Lonely One w/Doodlin'. The labels are in EX- condition with light storage wear and a black X on A. The 45 visually grades between M and M- and plays M-. Let me know if you're interested! Many thanks, BritMusicSoulFan

Hello Everyone, Compared to a lot of the others on the Soul Source forum, I'm really fairly new to the NS/soul scene, really only into it since the beginning of the year. I bought a collection of original Northern Soul/soul 45, artist-specific soul compilation CDs, soul compilation CDs, etc. As I was listening to the Bobby Patterson complete Jetstar Recordings 2xCD set the other day, I was amazed at how the material was consistently satisfying to listen to. My tastes in music are very broad. I have been listening to 80s-90s indie British bands with some soul mixed in, but once I started sifting through these 45s, the musical "on-switch" kicked in, and I've been soaking up as much 60s/70s soul as I can. I guess it's got me wondering... Any thoughts, ideas, etc. as to why 60s soul/Northern Soul seems to be overall so musically satisfying? Was it an apex of creativity musically, production-wise, writing-wise? Love to hear your thoughts. This forum has been great! BritMusicSoulFan

Dynamic Record Label - San Antonio Texas
Britmusicsoulfan replied to Becket's topic in Look At Your Box
Hello All, Has the Dynamic label been comped on CD anywhere? Many thanks, BritMusicSoulFan -
How about S.N. and the C.T.'s? I've got their 45 downstairs at the flat.

Hi All, I'm listening to the Al Green - Lay It Down release for the first time and am totally blown away. Anyone else enjoying this one? I love the 70s production/feel/sound! BritMusicSoulFan

Billy Ray Charles On Miss Butch Records
Britmusicsoulfan replied to Britmusicsoulfan's topic in Look At Your Box
Andy, Actually, it's a yellow label. Tim -
Hello Everyone, I was digging through a recent pile of records I bought and found a copy of a New Orleans soul/modern soul 45. I can't find any information on it. It is in M- condition. It's on Miss Butch Records, catalogue number MB-227 from Billy Ray Charles (it's a Jimmy Lewis cover) of Sweet, Black and Hot w/Shakin' My Shaker. Has anyone run across this? It has great vocals, great lyrics, but it does have a (ugh) drum machine backing him. Thanks, everyone!

Hello, I found a couple of Liberty 45s downstairs and wanted to see if anyone had an idea of value. The first is Betty O'Brien F-55434 for Money Honey w/Why Me? This is absolutely mint and unplayed. I did see a couple other Betty singles, but not this one. The other one is Liberty F-55349 for Johnny Oliver for Mail Man, Where's My Check w/You've Got Reap What You Sow. I'm not sure this is Northern. If it wasn't unplayed, I'd give it a spin. Any help would be great. Cheers, all! BritMusicSoulFan

Dino Bazan & The Dell-tones Jox Northern Soul 45
Britmusicsoulfan posted a topic in Look At Your Box
Hello All, I was having a rummage downstairs and found a record I wanted to check on value/pop out here to see if anyone fancies an offer on it. It's from Dino Bazan & The Dell-Tones, a Northern Soul on Jox Records out of San Antonio, Texas. There's a tiny bit of light ring wear on it and a promo stamp on b. This record is in EX- condition visually and plays M-/EX- and sounds great. I've attached a photo of each side. It sounds great! Hope to hear from you. -
Hi All, This question popped into my head whilst I was listening to Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell doing "Your Precious Love." Some great stuff. Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" is way up high on my list of all-time brilliant releases. I do really love the obscure Northern Soul, but I'm a sucker for the Motown as well. Your thoughts?
