  1. Think we`d been to Southend Andy, was on the way back up the A1, when all of a sudden we saw hundreds of Choppers etc going south, anyway they must have seen us going north and turned round, we all pulled into a service station and all hell broke loose, there were hundreds of them, one of my endearing memories was seeing spuggy stood on his vespa [space oddity] seat swinging his full face crash hat round knocking them over. I was having a sort out in my mums shed a few months ago and came across one of them old YORK trailer mudflaps that we cut down to fit the back of the Lammy`s Great days mate
  2. Hi Andy, yeh i`m ok mate, i joined in 77/78 i think, [memory gone] i bought Toms my generation gp 200 for the unbelievable sum of £300 everyone thought i was mad  . Went on a few runs between 77 and 79 then got more into the nighter scene. As you say had some great times, especially with Billy whizz [r,i,p.] in tow . Do you remember a lad called Nige Grimbley? think he died on of all things a Motorbike near the crematorium, he was Janet petch`s boyfriend if memory serves me right. Also Dave Horseman and his Yellow brick road Rally 200. Great days mate-H
  3. Hi Joan, if it was taken on a run, i`ll have probably been pushing my lambretta up the road would have been on the brid rally somewhere. Also the picture of the scooter club, it was about the time i joined so i`ll have been one of those in the background somewhere, you won`t see me anyway my parka was like a tent on me Hope your keeping ok hun
  4. Yep Mr mole deffo there, Tom petch of course, think Spuggies also in the picture, been trying to put a name to a few myself over the past couple of days, lad called Brian waite is on there who i knew quite well, . Also remember the number plate on the lambretta at the front, but can`t remember who`s it was. Think this was taken in the days when we were based at either the White horse at poppleton or the Locomotive on holgate.
  5. Hi Dale, yeh remember that one light blue vespa with couloured bubbles. Wasn`t on the scooter scene that long myself maybe only a couple of years but had some great times, great memories of Billy whizz r.i.p. Good days indeed
  6. Them were the days, i think the top one was taken on a run somewhere, The other one was taken at Bridlington 1979. No bed and breakfasts back then just survival bags n sleeping bags, in car parks etc
  7. The other one that springs to mind. I was djing at a local night in Darlington, three or four times this p*ssed up guy came on the stage and asked for Eye of the Tiger i did try to explain about the music policy for the night, but after about 10mins once again he came up, but this time he shouted at me and gave me a load of abuse, screaming EYE OF THE TIGER!!!!. My head went and i shouted "IF YOU DON`T F**K OFF THIS STAGE, YOU`LL GET......EYE OF THE PANDA!!!!!
  8. Played Sandra richardson whilst djing recently, but forgot the labels are reversed on my copy, felt a right tw*t but let it roll, and it went down a storm

  16. Ive said it before, and i`ll say it again, this one drags you from your chair, or stops you in mid conversation, whereaver you hear it.
  17. My only excuse is it was a very long time ago when i first heard it Pete, far less in the know back then. At least it started off a good thread, some fascinating stuff, great replies folks

  19. Great Reply Dave, some really intresting info there. So the success of the motown sound was in demand by others also, makes sense really considering there huge success.
  20. Thanks for the replies guys, allways wondered what the musical term for that giutar work was.
  21. Was just thinking, how certain tunes can be recognised by the area they were recorded in. We all recognise that Wylie/ hestor Beat from Detroit. Is there a Distinctive sound for certain area`s / city`s of the USA? . Or is it just down to the Labels, and what exceptions to that rule are there, what i mean is something that you were sure upon hearing it would have come from a certain area but didn`t. Just thought it might be something new to discuss. I`ll start you off with a prime example, the first time i heard this i would have put money on it being from Detroit,
