  7. its wierd really, i knew a lad who as the same as yourself was going through his mother in laws records in the attic, and pulled out a shane martin, when he asked her why she had it she said, we were mods as kids and used to go to loads of parties we all took different records but never came away with the ones you went with, liked to have gone to them parties
  8. Not soul, but didn`t somebody on a tip a few years ago find a load of larry lurex acetates in a box? bet he made a mint
  9. RESULT!!!! i have a friend who lives in york, big rockabilly/rock n roll collector, apparently or so he says they don`t differentiate in price between demo`s and issues, in fact he said they`d rather have issues, got a nice frank lyndon demo of him, and a copy of charlie gracie he`ll never love you like i do on stateside, also a similar sort of story to yours pete he took me to a guys house who used to work for the bbc who he got a lot of stuff off he was also a rock n roll nut, but got some nice demo`s off him things like john drevars etc
  10. might well have been pete, this guy looked like a californian hells angel
  11. A couple of years ago i was at a record fair in york, had looked through all the sixties section as you do, then decided to have a look at a guys stuff who looked like one of z z top, going through loads of heavy metal picture discs, and there right in the middle was a copy of THE FOXES I JUST MIGHT FALL IN LOVE-ABC W/D he gave me it put it in a brown paper bag as quick as possible so his tattoo clad friends didn`t see and 50p changed hands, wheres the most peculiar place youve turned up soul music
  12. I did the same thing at the same place, with a copy of sue lynn, bought it for £12 turned round and was talking to one of my mates, when this scotch guy begged me to sell it to him and gave me £25 crisp pounds-RESULT!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Thats correct dave, will be out with ronnie this weekend, its an intresting thing that some people as you say just turned to modern soul, don`t think as yourself i could completely change my whole way of thinking, but as ive said before each to there own, there is a few things i enjoy but only because i was there at the time either sam or richard were playing them
  17. TOUCHE`PETE, this was di`s mams favourite record
  18. I'VE HEARD WORSE!!!! I havn`t
  19. its off the front of an old fanzine midnight express ive had for many years
  20. don`t worry i`m only dipping my toe in the water, 60`s allways my first love, each to there own though as i say, i just wondered if people who are into the modern side of things grew up with that sort of music or actually move into it at some point and why that was
  21. Was just thinking the other day, ive allways been a lover of 60`s uptempo soul, am slowly turning to the x over 60`s side of things, i just wondered if i hadn`t have gone to my local venue back then, THE OVAL BALL YORK run by wigan dj ALAN RHODES, if it had say been a more seventies orientated venue would i have gone down that road? how many people who were passionate about the sixties side of things have actually fully crossed over onto the modern scene, without the obvious front runners SAM, RICHARD ETC
  22. we ran our own do, payed for the hall out of our pockets, gave free cd`s out on the door [of our own stuff] the dj`s we asked came and did it for nothing and ran it for nearly two years, never charged on the door, it was only due to the club closing that we stopped, never made a penny played underplayed 60`s r&b and rarities, we tried to promote the scene, although it was never a packer we had a regular crowd who supported us, we did it cause we wanted to give something back
  23. Yeh this one has a black star roger, apparantly theres a west coast release as well with DELTA #61589 in the run out, i think the nashville mattrix holds the key roger, i allways understood they had one just no mention in jm`s bootlegg book CHEERS ROGER
  24. Thanks roger i was under the impression they should be nashville stamped, been watching one on the bay but its hard to see the run out width details on picture, e-mailed seller and thats the info i got, so it looks like a boot it also has a star on the left of the label wich is not present on your scan many thanks REGARDS HARRY, SUPPOSE I COULD GET A DECCA ONE THAT`D BE EASIER
