  3. morning malc, very good point mate, makes you wonder would the places like the the torch, cleethorpes, mecca etc have carried the banner as much has wigan has over the years? there was some trully great music from those venues as well, but would the history of been the same? suppose we`ll never know wigan in so many ways has overshadowed so many other venues imo
  4. Here, here don`t think to this day ive heard anything to rival some of those spots in the last two years, have a couple of old northern noise mags from then, searlings say so in there with his playlist WOW!!! this of course is only a personal opinion, but i think those years may have been the begining of the RARE soul scene as we know it today, will never forget him playing things like moses dillard, court davis, little ann etc it was just a brilliant time, and at a time when really the place was on its knees, i stuck out the saturday night sessions it was a shame to see how the attendances had dropped but there was some trully great music played, great memories for me anyway

  18. was out with him last night, allways been a jammy bugger though he bought his copy of joe hicks off soul bowl £5 remember him getting it there must have been some kind of cock up at soul bowl he was expecting the other copy, as for ronnie with his gifts, i`d sold my big collection in the early eighties, and a girl i knew was trying to raise money to go on a kibutz in israel, so i leant her £200 and she left me a fifty box of her records as collateral, she never came back, and i`d dropped out of collecting so i gave them to ronnie, only to realise years later what i`d given him, i`ll tell you two of them PARISIONS-TWINKLE LITTLE STAR-DEMON HOT, PATRICE HOLLAWAY-STOLEN HOURS-CAPITOL DEMO, plus 48 others, he`s funny as fook was talking to him about this last night, and he swiftly changed the subject
  19. oooooooooooooooh yeh can peel an orange in his pockt that lad, NEVER!! sells anythging, remember when he was out of work for about three years really on his arse, as most of us would have sold our records, not ronnie he got by with as joe cocker said A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS TOP GUY!!
