  1. If my calculations are correct, the youngest anyone could be to have gone to the casino is 54. It closed in '81 I believe?, 36 years ago, so add 18 to that, the age that you had to be to get in there legally (I know some were younger), and that's if they only went for the last year it was open. So if anyone says they went, and you doubt they did, ask them how old they are. Failing that ask them what the bloke was called on the cash desk as you paid to go in
  2. No I agree it's not Northern Soul and I would never rate it as that, but it was a big tune in the Mod clubs which the Central was before it was a Soul club
  3. Hi Tomagoes, Wully Bully was played at the central in Leeds a few months ago, but only because the tune was played there back in the early 70s when the Central was a predominantly Mod club, and before Northern soul was called Northern soul
  4. Thanks Roburt, yes looked at the EPs but can't see it on any of them. Bit like 'Music for pleasure' albums, always seemed to have an unreleased track on them.
  5. Well like it or not, it's an official Len Berry record as on the LP 'My kind of soul', and a lot better than some of the tosh that gets played on the scene, i.e. Helen Shapiro and the like, that got to Number 1 in the UK charts, Northern Soul, Nah, at least Len Barry has some decent form.
  6. Just picked this up of Fleabay. Only ever came out on an album 'My kind of soul' Never a single release. Nice track too, but there is only 1 clip of it anywhere that I can see, and that's a live performance on Youtube. It's an official RCA Victor 7" acetate Picked it up for £14 + P&P from the states. When it comes through I will record it and put a full version on Youtube. If anyone knows better about it's release other than the album, please let me know. Thanks
  7. Blame 'Northern soul' the film and 'Soulboy', they are what brought the 'Divs' flocking to see what it was all about, and since then bootlegs have found a new price range, as the 'Divs' look for records that were in the flims, but haven't got a clue what labels to look for, all they know is that they have been told they are rare and cost a fortune. I see them every day with their plastic T-Shirts and baggy trousers. Any self respecting REAL soulie would never wear a T-shirt with 'Northern Soul Keep The Faith' plastered all over it, in fact any self respecting REAL soulie wouldn't wear anything that said northern Soul on it at all, maybe just a pin badge with his beloved club logo on. OK, I know there were 'Divs' at the Casino etc. but nowhere as near as many as today.
