  1. Here is the only reference that I can find for the name, any scientists out there?
  2. Just checked on Google as you suggested and apparently no meaning? Not even as an acronym. Must have been something that Luthor or Richard made up. Top word though, should have a meaning really.
  3. For some strange reason, the title always reminds me of Space? Maybe because of 'Star Trek'? Dunno! I'd love to know that 'Exus' means though.
  4. Heheh!! Love your comments, and I agree with them all. Being into the scene from the late 60s, the instrumental was the first version I heard, and loved it then, and still do. I love the vocal version too, but was never as keen on it as the instrumental, but only because the instrumental was by the time the vocal showed it's face, already a classic and was known and loved by most. Both instrumental and vocal versions have an amazing feel and atmosphere about them and are both true Northern Soul records as they should be. But on to the version above, Yes Grant, you were partly right. This is a fusion of both versions, but not done on 'Cool aid'? Never heard of that one. It's just something I love doing in my spare time. I love to hear the conversations they spark off, they are always very interesting. Thanks for the comments good and bad. Steve
  5. Has anyone mentioned the following? Four Tops - To care (original version, not remixed) The Spinners - What more can a boy ask for Both album only tracks until remixed or booted.
  6. Michael Macdonald - God knows Kiki Dee - The day will come between........ Dana Valery - You don't know where your interest lies And Mickie Moonshine - name it you got it Oh and Bobby Paris - I walked away
  7. Has anyone got Ginger Taylors number please? Please PM me with if you have Thanks
  8. Ah cool Pete, was just on the phone to Paul Rowan, Jeez!! we spoke til' the credit ran out on HIS phone this time, over 2 hours. That fellah has some top stories. Telling me about when he went over to the states with 2 of his mates and they had been let into a warehouse above a bowling alley, that was crammed full of records. He found loads of 7s and an album that was all Jackie Wilson tracks with the same backing tracks, but a different singer, female, wouldn't tell me who the singer was though cos he's covered it up. Great guy and looking forward to seeing (and hearing) him on the 1st.
  9. Tickets now on sale!! Here is the ticket link for the Leeds Central Reunion tickets. Leeds Central Reunion Tickets Although you will end up paying a little more for a ticket, you are guaranteed entry whereas waiting and paying on the door you are not. I suggest anyone who has an original membership card, get in touch with me for a half price ticket on proof of possession of card.
  10. Pete, sorry for my ignorance, but why does it say 'central No2' on the flyer, does that pertain to the building number??
  11. That'll be the next one on the cards if I can get a date, and of course depending on the support on the 1st May
  12. Tickets now on sale!! Here is the ticket link for the Leeds Central Reunion tickets. 13. Got the flyers today and they look the dogs............ anyone interested in having some please pm me your mailing address and I will get some to you in the post or can arrange to meet up. Thanks Steve
  14. Hi Stu, do you mean Tony Jackson? if so he's already agreed to do the reunion. DJs now confirmed; Paul Rowan, Tony Jackson, Rick Cooper, Dennis Billingham, Chris Mallows and me. ALL original Central DJs
  15. I will be receiving the tickets, flyers and posters for the 'Leeds Central Reunion' at the end of this week hopefully. I will post the online ticket sales link on here on Facebook and on the event pages as soon as it is all sorted, hopefully by the weekend. Please note there will only be 250 tickets on sale and 150ish places to pay on the door, so don't delay! Also as mentioned above, anyone that has an original membership card have 2 options 1- Buy a ticket to guarantee entry 2 - Wait and pay on the door for half price entry but get there early. There is no other way around this unfortunately as many people are asking me to put tickets on sale.
  16. I said I would so it, but need the MP3s, so if anyone has them let me ave em and I'll get cracking.
  17. Heheh!! Yeah i know what you mean, but I have friends in high places, well! a recording studio actually.
  18. Yes Pete that does pose a slight problem. I think the best way round that, is that anyone with a membership card not buy a ticket and pay on the door. I have only ordered 250 tickets so that leaves approximately 150 places to pay on the door. Or to be on the safe side anyone that does have membership cards buy a ticket anyway to save disappointment on the day and forfeit the half price entry.
  19. The programmes I use are state of the art kit, approximately £7-8000 worth of software, but still Northern is not easy to mix as the BPM is never the same for long with being recorded live, so there is always a huge amount of cutting, pasting and beatmapping to do, and even then sometimes it doesn't sound perfect. But I do love doing it all the same
  20. Massive announcement!! Thanks to Malc Burton who has put me in touch, we have now able to add to the lineup 'Paul Rowan'. Paul kept me on the phone for over an hour today until I ran out of credit LOL! chatting about the days of the Central and the people that used to go and who he knew back then, and believe me he hasn't changed a bit, he can talk for England. So Brilliant news, we have now added another Original 'Central' DJ to the lineup. 'Paul Rowan'
  21. While your deciding to attend the Reunion, here is something for you to listen. I've done a few of these, some like them, some don't! This is a collaboration of 2 records with the same backing track, but different artists, Or is it??
  22. Hi Shelly. yes I have decided to do tickets for the reunion. as soon as I get them in place I will post the link on here. They will be available online and instore at 'Jumbo records' in Leeds, very appropriate, as this was the best shop and I think the only shop in Leeds where you could get Northern Soul in the days when the Central was running.
  23. Another one for you to kick the shit out of LOL!! Hope you enjoy!
  24. Great times lads yeah, it always messes my head up when I hear the good ones have sadly gone. I remember 'Spud' from the Central who died early on, I think his name was Steve Tate? I know he was a fireman. and who could ever forget the mighty 'Bub'? What a top bloke and a great character, very sadly missed. Yes as you say Pete, let's celebrate the memories of those who graced the Central back in the day who can no longer be there.
