Northern Soul Uk

Just going through some old documents and found this Soul poem that I wrote about 37 years ago. Wondered if anyone on here had ever sat down and put pen to paper and captured their feelings about this wonderful music? Old King Cole's Soul Old King Cole Loved his Soul Loved merry old Soul did he He called for Danny White, Jimmy Thomas and Bill Black Man! What a fiddlers 3 Now first of all came Jimmy Thomas and he sang 'The beautiful night' when he had finished he left the stage And on came Danny White When Danny White was on the stage He sang 'Cracked up over you' Then he sang 'Natural Soul Brother' To mention but a few Then on the stage came our well known friend Bill Black in great demand And guess who came on with his combo That's right! The Bob and Earl band Now both the bands went on to play 'Little Queenie' and 'My little girl' But all this soulful music Sent King Cole into a whirl Then all the Ladies, Lords and Dukes All did their very best But alas they could do nothing And laid his Soul to rest.

Ah well, as said above, great album full of classics, you could probably do a full set with just this record :-) Hey Ho! back into the pile it goes LOL. KTF!

Hi soul Connoisseurs I have had for years an album on the 'Inferno' label called 'Detroit-a-go-go' (Burn 11) It has all the big tracks produced by 'Richard 'Popcorn' Wylie and Tony Hester. Any idea if this is a rare album or not, have searched the net and can't find anything about it on there. Thanks people.

I know this is nothing to do with records, but I saw the same thing on Ebay today. Someone from Hong Kong selling 2 instances of the same item, one was £17 + .99p postage and one was .99p and £17 postage? I thought that Ebay were supposed to have sorted the high postage hackers out?? When I post a record I usually charge £1.50 within the UK, that includes postage, packing and travelling to the post office which is 1 mile away.

Don't know really, just looked it I thought, TBH in the 40 years that i have been on the scene i don't think I have ever seen a demo copy, so that maybe why it looked strange to me. Sorry if i caused any grief

yeah, but more difficult than it sounds to be honest. Although the backing tracks are the same, the actual equalisation and parts of the backing track are different, also the Nolan Chance one is faster than the Denise LaSalle one. Also you have the problem of syncing it up as of course both tracks were recorded with live instruments and obviously not in any fixed BPM. Like I said I was just messing about really to see if it could be done with both records being very similar. With a lot more time taken I think it could be done quite effectively. Steve

As per a newer thread on 'SS' I have just picked up a copy of the Bluey/Green Tarpon release for £22, so well chuffed at that, others were priced at least £45. I have also done a remix of both Denise LaSalle and Nolan Chance together and called it 'Just like the reputation' LOL Nothing added at all, no beats or that crap, just the 2 records edited together professionally., but can't put it up for you to hear cos can't put MP3s on the site. If anyone knows a way, and you want to hear it, let me know.

Maybe if the label was called 'TAMPON' it would have stopped the flow of the chess copies :-) Ho Ho!! Well anyway I got a turquoise copy so looks like it's the easiest to find one.

Hi Y'awll Just bought a copy of Denise LaSalle - A love reputation on 'Tarpon' for about £22, so not too badly priced. What I was wondering is that I believe that there are 2 label colours, A Turquoise green and a dark blue as far as I can make out. Are they both the same release but different colour labels, or is one a re-press? Thank you A wee remix

Thanks you but just followed that link and registered, added my event and it's not showing on the calender? Strange, also when you press the 'contact' radio button, nothing happens so can't get in touch. Looks like the only way is to get a physical mag and see if there are any contact details in there.
