  1. Just got one of the ones in the link, as you say supposed to be a decent press and was, according to my sources, pressed up in the 80s not too long after the original was pressed, so still 30 years old'ish
  2. Excellent article Roburt, Thanks for that
  3. When I said the Matrix was stamped in, I meant as well as the numbers etc. there is an actual stamp, never seen it before, but I will post it so you can decide. hard to get a good shot but here goes
  4. As per an earlier post, I have this version. Rare on 7", and a great female version.
  5. Just STOLE one for £13 on eBay with picture sleeve https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222481324906?
  6. detroit graham, the A side is I'm starting again'
  7. Yeah I'm pretty 100% it's Kosher, as the deadwax is stamped as opposed to scratched. Someone pointed out that the release number didn't match up to other 'Rio' numbers, but as 'Rio' was also part of 'DJM' records, it ties up nicely. Unless the 'DJR' letters, stand for 'Disc Jockey Rio'? As I say no one has yet come forward to say they have even seen one let alone owned one. Thank you
  8. Heard it on the album, but never seen a 7 before, thanks.
  9. Just got this through the post. It's the 7" single of 'Grace Kennedy - Love is a serious business', a female version of the Alfie Davidson classic. Question is, I have never seen and cannot find anyone else who owns, or has ever seen the 7"single. I know it is an album track and thought it was an album track only. It is not listed on the 'Rio Records' discography, the 'DJM records' discography, or the 'This record Co Ltd' discography either. It is apparently a Canada release only. Has anyone on here ever seen one? I know that some of you will prefer the Alfie Davidson version obviously, but that's not what I am asking. Thanks for any help
  10. Ending today on eBay, rare Japanese Montclairs Album. Includes 'Hung up on your love' https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311844252608?
  11. Always loved the song, VERY emotional, and was brilliant when it was performed in the show 'The Dream Girls' by Jennifer Holiday, and I think this young girls performance for a 15 year old was outstanding. Birth of a brand new soul Diva me thinks
  12. Just seen what I think is the UK version of Aretha Franklin, and only 15. Literally in tears watching her.
  13. Rare Japanese 'Monclairs' Vinyl Album. Included 'Hung up on your love' https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311844252608?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  14. WOW! Mike that's a brilliant read, thank you for that. Really interesting if you didn't know, you would write Daryl Hall off as just another pop star, but he has so much history in the soul music genre. Thanks again - Steve
  15. I s'pose it's difficult for the younger ones when they hear a tune at a soul night that they may have heard in pubs or at a commercial disco somewhere, to appreciate it's history. There are many tunes like that, that at the time they were big were not classed as Soul, let alone Northern Soul, but they did play their part on the development of the scene
  16. I think Wully Bully, not Northern Soul obviously, but there's lots of 'Not Northern Soul' gets played on the scene these days, and it was an old Mod tune that did get played in the early clubs pre the Northern Soul tag.
  17. As promised, a clean recording of this excellent track. The Acetate is in great condition as you'll hear on the video.
  18. Maybe one of the prominent event promoters should sort it out to get them over here?
  19. Brilliant video of the O'Jays performing live at Daryl Halls House. A great watch
  20. Just gone on eBay The Dells Sampler Album https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Northern-Soul-Rare-Demo-Album-The-Dells-Sampler-All-the-Biggies-/311838105833?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT
  21. Album also has the brilliant Levi Jackson - This beautiful day, so worth getting just for those 2
  22. No, it was a soul alldayer, but one of the DJs took it on himself to play it. His choice, suffered the wrath a bit afterwards tho'. Have you not been since the Terry Callier night then? to on of the alldayers?
  23. Awesome track, one of my all time faves, and WHAT A VOICE!!! I was very lucky and won a demo on eBay for £12, will never sell it.
  24. I reckon there are more Boots, reissues etc. on eBay now than Originals? and some you have to look closely at if they are not listed as such.
