  1. The idea is to compress them all into one thread, this one. so all of the info is in one place instead of scattered about all over 'SS'. If there is a summery of all records that everyone has a query about all in one place, it will make getting info so much easier.
  2. Yes, that is mentioned above "Original Demos carry the red 'A' either on the 'A' side 'My heart is so full of you' (first press)
  3. I have now sumerised the above discussion, including a final synopsis, on the following link should anyone need this information in future
  4. Here is a discussion from another thread about this record. It discusses the identification about the original versions and the Bootleg versions. The synopsis is included at the bottom of the posts. Q, I have just purchased a demo of 'Patti & The Emblems - I'm gonna love you a long long time' and I am trying to get confirmation that it is an original demo or not. The runout on the 'Gonna love you....' side has 'K-11127-4' scratched into the vinyl, and the 'My hearts so full.....' side has 'K-11126-4'. It has a red 'A' on the 'Gonna love you.....' side. A, Real 'un I reckon. But check your deadwax. Mine has 11126-1 and 11127-2 Q, Doesn't bootleg have a Monarch Delta #? A, Yep Q, Is not the run out groove very wide as well on the boot. A, The run out groove on my obvious boot is quite a bit wider then this one it came out with the red A on the other side as well, that being the rarer demo. I would say it IS original, since you have a boot with the wider run out groove as well. checked my demo and mine has K-11127-3 for the "I'm Gonna Love You..." side and K-11126-3 for the "My Heart's..." side. The Red A is on the "My Heart's ... " side. There's also a T1 in the dead wax. Just checked mine, Gonna love is the red A side with the K-11127-2 matrix, and My Hearts is K 11126-1, So why the matrix change of 3 and 4, and with Steve's the 4 both sides ??? I think you'll find that originally that was the "A" side only after radio play re-released with "A" on Gonna love you....... The most common boot had a black "A", and was made at Monarch in L.A. and has a Delta number in the 103,000s (late 1970s). Not sure if there was a red "A" boot, but yours looks real and your Matrix numbers are original, as far as I know (at least on one 1960s issue). Mine has red A on i'm gonna love you side with k 11127-2 & k 11127-1 on other. Maybe it is the case that some were pressed at different plants, hence the slightly different matrix numbers? I don't know whether 'Kapp' used more than one pressing plant, maybe someone on here will know that. Kapp DEFINITELY used more than one pressing plant. They had several variations of the same issues. They pressed in L.A., on The East Coast, and in The Midwest. Synopsis Original Demos of this record were pressed at various pressing plants across the USA, namely L.A., The East Coast, and in The Midwest, and have variations of Matrix numbers on the run out wax. All have the same numbers K-11126 and K-11127, but they end with either the numbers 1,2,3 or 4. i.e K11126-1,2,3 or 4,. Original Demos carry the red 'A' either on the 'A' side 'My heart is so full of you' (first press), the 'B' side 'I'm gonna love you a long long time' (second press after radio play), or on both sides, the rarest Demo of them all. These are all original Demos Bootlegs of this record have a black 'A' on the 'B' side 'I'm gonna love you a long long time', and carry the matrix number 103,000s, these ware pressed at the 'Monarch Delta' pressing plant in Los Angeles in the late 1970s, and have a considerably wider run out groove than an original demo press. Prices for the original Demos have ranged from £450 (peak) to £250. Bootleg prices of this record range from £10-20.
  5. Excellent! I will take it on myself to add this information to that forum for the use of anyone needing info on this record in the future. Ah! maybe not then as it doesn't give you the option to start a new thread to add info.
  6. Ah! Thought that may be the case, that probably solves the slightly different matrix numbers on the same release. There seems to be quite a few variations of the same vinyl according to posts earlier on in this thread, I hope that you information RobbK will put other minds at rest too. Steve
  7. Had 2 stormers that I picked up for a song off the internet, and sold on for good prices, but still regret selling them, Well yer do don't you? Solomon King - This beautiful day UK Demo, bought for £25 and sold for £122. Pookie Hudson - This get's to me - Gold and white 'Jamie', bought for £19 and sold for £109. I find myself wanting them, then when I have had them for a while, I think 'Ah well, I've had them now, time to sell' I think the thrill is in the chase, more than actually having them and waiting for someone to compliment you on having them. Just my way of thinking I s'pose, not everyone is the same.
  8. That's why I asked the experts, either mine was real and a top bargain, or a boot. It might be an idea maybe for the admins or someone, if possible to collect and catagorise info like this, so that anyone wanting to know about certain records could just go to that instead of having to start a new topic. A lot of work I know, but would be invaluable. Or maybe start a new forum so that this sort of info can be entered manually by 'SS' members.
  9. Yeah they have sold for £450, but yeah I'd say £250-300 now. and yes, when I play my Ahem!! (boot) out, it is still definitely a floor filler no doubt
  10. Don't really want to reveal the price to be honest, but it was a REAL bargain. As I mentioned above, Right place, Right time, Wrongly listed.
  11. Bet you wished you had have kept them now :-) If anyone is interested I might decide to sell this one now I can say I have had one.
  12. Thank you RobbK, Maybe one day I can draw a line under this mystery? Maybe it is the case that some were pressed at different plants, hence the slightly different matrix numbers? I don't know whether 'Kapp' used more than one pressing plant, maybe someone on here will know that. I am quite satisfied now that mine is an original Demo, and for the price I paid for it, I think I have acquired the bargain of the century. Thanks again. Steve
  13. This get's curiouser and curiouser?? Think we need DM on the case??
  14. Thanks matey. Right place, right time, wrongly listed
  15. So! would the general consensus be that mine is an original?
  16. The run out groove on my obvious boot is quite a bit wider then this one.
  17. I reckon that is an orig but with the logo coloured in? Strange! But I also have an obvious boot, and the title and artist text is off centre (not in the middle in relation to the hole), and the 'A' is black? and the matrix etc. is different of course. Debatable really. it's the red 'A' that throws you, unless someone is a dab hand with stencils.
  18. This is the closest photo I could get of the run out number. Same on the other side but replace the 7 with a 6
  19. Hi fellow soulsters! I have had this question on 'The Sharp End of Vinyl' but had nothing really conclusive. I have just purchased a demo of 'Patti & The Emblems - I'm gonna love you a long long time' and I am trying to get confirmation that it is an original demo or not. The runout on the 'Gonna love you....' side has 'K-11127-4' scratched into the vinyl, and the 'My hearts so full.....' side has 'K-11126-4'. It has a red 'A' on the 'Gonna love you.....' side. Here is an image of the exact record. Is it real? I have never owned a real copy so need the experts help. Thank you
  20. Can anyone please confirm that this is an original copy? Thank you
  21. No, hasn't got that number Sebastian, just K-11127-4, and K-11126-4 on flip, scratched in to run out.

  23. My copy of the limited edition look-a-like demo of Frankie & Johnny - I'll hold you
  24. Not an expert, but I have always been led to believe that if the writing was small on the title it was a boot or re-press. But as I say, not an expert so I will stand corrected.
  25. Thank you Sebastian, I will let you know when it arrives
