  1. When we wore them they were 36 bottoms, yes 36", as wide as my waist now LOL!
  2. Yeah I agree some instro' are better than the vocal versions. One of my faves is 'Milton Wright - The Gallop' Actually I'm not sure which came first the instro' or the vocal version?, I have a feeling that the vocal was put on after? Anyone?
  3. Holy poo!! Thought they had stopped making these? I had a pair when I first started to go to the nighters, and I wore them til' they were no good to man nor beast. Levi Skinners, 36" bottoms I just did a google search and found that you can still actually buy them - RESULT!!! https://www.fashstyle...tal-e-3667.html
  4. Some of the sights and sounds of the 'Leeds Central' https://youtu.be/RW87C1Q8CSo
  5. Me too mate, awesome! and sounded as good live as on record? very rare these days.
  6. Just watched this, Later with Jules Holland, with 'Larry Graham' AMAZING!!!! FFWD to 24 minutes for the start of the show. https://www.bbc.co.uk...ewindTo=current
  7. One of my all time fave albums is 'The Nightfly'. Every track a winner.
  8. I remember going into Burtons in Leeds and finding a stunning grey suit with 6 buttons up each sleeve, and 6 down the front of the jacket, a beautiful petrol blue colour, fit like a glove and it was off the peg. I went to Blackpool Mecca the same night (so this was a little later then discussed) and loads asked where I got it from, and when I told the Burtons off the peg, no one would believe me. I know a lot of Mods and early Soulies had their fave tailor where they would take their own cloth and tell the tailor what they wanted, and all for just a few quid. Do such tailors still exist that know what Soulies are looking for stylewise, or have they all gone to the wall? My favorite was at the top of Domestic Street in Holbeck Leeds, not there now unfortunately.
  9. That's not bad 2 out of 5, well done that man!
  10. Or buy smaller paper sleeves so they'll go in the card ones
  11. And this is the Gold Boot, like the one that sold for £76 on Ebay the other night! and it sounds great!
  12. Yes precisely! My point was really that the seller hasn't entered any real detail about the item, so if anyone didn't know the fact about the dip before the centre, and you can't see the run out grooves on the picture, how would they know what they are buying?
  13. Yes that is correct Gene-R, the star is black.
  14. Just seen this for sale on the Bay, Original and up to just over £100 with a day to go. There are no matrix number included in the description. fine you may say? But this is my copy which I know is a boot of the demo How is any poor unsuspecting soul supposed to be able to tell the difference? The difference being mine was £15.
  15. Interesting thread! I started out my 'Soul' life as a 'Suede head' (not quite skin), Used to wear the Staprest, Docs, Ben Sherman, Crombie overcoat with suede collar, and carry a brolly, some referred to us as brolly boys. We used to go all over the North usually hitching a lift off some scooter boy or if we were very lucky in a car, to the clubs who usually played early Soul (Rufus Thomas, Otis, Aretha etc.) and quite a bit of Reggae. I loved it all. We also used to frequent the coffee bars in Leeds such as the 'Del Rio' and 'Acapulco' and others that I can't remember off the top of my head. The vivid memory is that at every table there was a jukebox that was linked to the main jukebox, so that you didn't even have to move to put a tune on. I know it sounds strange but 2 of the tunes that stick out from the time (not Soul) are 'Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep - Middle of the road' and 'In the year 2525 - Zager and Evans', they always seemed to be playing when I went in :-) so looking at the timeframe that would have been in 1969-1971. Just remembered another that was always playing too 'Blue Mink - Melting pot', OH! and the 'Onion song' :-)
  16. Went for £76, ridiculous! but I'm happy
  17. ERM???? NO!! LOL, just revised the database to £30 :-)
  18. Heheh!! so if you had the same 'Repro' what would you price it as :-) Very confusing, got mine priced in my database at a tenner. Just been looking round and even the Grapevine one went for £38 recently.
  19. Guaranteed way to win em is to bid a grand, 99% of the time it'll go for nowhere near that, but you're just about guaranteed to win, and it pisses the hell out of the other bidders
  20. Or like that guy said while he was waiting in the queue of about 200 people to get into Wigan Casino "I only came out for a bottle of milk" True story.
