  1. or this if you don't mind an album. Excellent album it is too.
  2. A bit about Chuck Jackson which mentions this track: Chuck Jackson (born July 22, 1937) is an R&B singer who was one of the first artists to successfully record material by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. He has performed with moderate success since 1961. His hits include "I Don't Want to Cry," "Any Day Now," "I Keep Forgettin'" "All Over The World". He was born on July 22, 1937 in Latta, South Carolina, but was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was "discovered" when he opened for soul legend Jackie Wilson at the Apollo Theater. He signed a recording contract with Scepter Records. His first single, "I Don't Want to Cry", which he co-wrote, was his first hit (1961). The song charted on both the R&B and pop charts. In 1962, Jackson's recording of "Any Day Now", the Burt Bacharach-Bob Hilliard classic, became a huge hit. He was so successful that in 1967, he bought up the time on his contract from from Scepter and moved to Motown Records. There he recorded a number of successful singles, including "Are You Lonely for Me Baby" and "Honey Come Back." He later recorded for All Platinum and other labels, but with minimal success. After meeting producer/composer Charles wallert at the Third Annual Beach Music Awards, the two collaborated to record, "How Long Have You Been Loving Me" on Carolina Records. The song became an instant Beach Music/Shag hit and remains a classic both in the Southeast and the UK In 1998 Jackson teamed with longtime friend, Dionne Warwick, to record ""If I let Myself Go" arranged as a duet by producer Charles Wallert for Wave Entertainment. The recording received critical acclaim and charted at number 19 on the highly competitive Gavin Adult Contemporary Charts. Jackson followed with "What Goes Around, Comes Around, another Charles Wallert production & composition and reached number 13 on the Gavin Charts. Several of Jackson's songs later became successful hits for other artists; Ronnie Milsap covered "Any Day Now" in 1982, and reached #1 on the Country and Adult Contemporary charts. Michael McDonald had a huge hit with his cover of Jackson's "I Keep Forgettin'".
  3. Really pleased with this as I paid only $8 for it which converts into about a fiver.
  4. Just bought this, not usually my cup of tea, but what a lovely track from the master that is Chuck Jackson.
  5. Yes I think they are still going, isn't that the studio in Rotherham? Ah no, just looked at the link, quite a bit away from Rotherham LOL!
  6. Excellent Martin, thanks for that.
  7. Thanks Roy, I knew I could count on your support as always :D Russ to be honest I would be more interested in getting it played on the Northern scene rather than having it be a commercial success, if the latter did happen, all the better, but not an ultimate aim. By the way I think Ian Levine is maybe a good road to go down, he has done some brilliant Northern tracks in his time, one being 'Solid Ground', a great track.
  8. Thank you for your comments and advise. I have the 'tune' for the song sang into my computer by myself just so I don't forget it as I have done that in the past, and have the lyrics written down. I know it's going to be a hard search for a soulful vocalist, and as Roburt said, that strings/brass will most likely have to be digital, but not too concerned about that, as modern equipment can reproduce those quite well. I have had quite a bit of studio experience with House music, but Northern is quite a different animal trying to get the right sound, as there is no actual beat as in House, it's all or mostly snares, strings and horns, which is hard to reproduce. well there is a beat I know, but not a kick drum type of beat I will take your advice and try to work with it, although I would imagine that known/famous vocalists will charge quite a bit for a session. Thanks again.
  9. If the seller wanted a particular price for a record, there are ways to give themselves and buyers several options. He could list the item as an auction with a 'Buy it now' price, and the 'Make an offer; option. He can also set the 'Offers' option to automatically reject offers under a certain amount so's to stop messers offering 1p,
  10. Need a bit of advice please. I have written lyrics for a Northern Soul tune, and I want to get it recorded with a strong backing track and hopefully eventually get it onto vinyl and on sale. So needed are a good male vocalist with a soulful voice, a good engineer who can lay a track down with strings etc in a classic Northern style, and someone who could get it into vinyl production. Any ideas please? I am serious, I think it would work very well. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Steve
  11. Just offered £12 and he accepted :-) Result!
  12. Thanks for that Jordan.
  13. Great track and top production for the year
  14. Hi Y'awlll. I'm after a cheap 'Herb Johnson - I'm so glad' Not bothered if it's a boot or whatever as long as it plays. Don't offer orig' as funds won't stretch at the mo' Thanks fellas (and Ladies) P.S. can get one for £20, so cheaper than that would be better.
  15. Thank you, does for me too. I think one of my most prized out of these is the 'Leeds Central Dance club' membership card. This was one of the original cards before the ones with the badge on (also there), but this one I got signed by Gladys and Bubba Knight. Oh and signed 'Kim Weston' photo is ok too from when she played at 'HiFi' in Leeds a few years back.
  16. Hey! that's ok, I wanted a frameless frame, as it looks great on the wall. Thanks!
  17. Heheh! It is framed Boba, it on one of the fast frames with glass over it. Might put a piece of coloured satin behind it though, MMM???
  18. Been meaning to do this for years, but things kept getting lost and found again. Eventually I have got them all together and made a superb wall centre piece. It looks the dogs. Hope you like.
  19. Ok, I think the same, they ARE actors and they are playing a part BUT, don't you think the the music they are 'learning' and dancing to just might rub off on some of them? y'know? like it did to us when we first heard it and started to dance to it? I don't think that anyone, or not many, could possibly go through the making of a film about the music learning to dance, and getting to know the records, without coming out of the other end uninspired. I think that a few future Soulies will be born out of this lot.
  20. I'll up Staceys Dad's offer to £20 and stand being robbed
  21. MMM? Nope, but then again is that what I said? I was simply showing RobbK a copy of the bootleg as he said he didn't know about them.
  22. Think you might have made a BooBoo there :-)
  23. Here is a copy of the Bootleg, although not really a bootleg as the actual track was never released on 45, so actually a first press.
  24. Disco Source........ . No Disco Biscuits!
