  1. I know for a fact that it's down to people selling up and moving on so to speak. I speak to top dealers on a regular basis and many say they are not short of offers for them to buy collections. Wondering if it's the 1980s scenario when many collectors and club goers moved on because the scene got too commercial. Things do go in circles on the music scene, always have done.
  2. Just listened Ady, lovely track mate
  3. Just bought the album with it on too. It has a 4 minute version on it.
  4. Yes top days in Cleethorpes Pier and Winter Gardens. A lot of good memories and friends
  5. The one I have on collectables is 2.49? and still has the long intro
  6. Rick, further to your above post.? I have had this photo sent from someone on Facebook, as I also asked the question on there. He says that it was the 1st anniversary badge, so this is a boot then LOL
  7. That's a weird one then? As I say the white sticker was under the red sticker. Please give my regards to Mary and Colin, they may not remember me, but would definitely remember the guy that I used to go to the Pier with, Gary Field. I also used to go with Ian Dewhirst (Frank), still a very good friend. Thanks for the info Nick, much appreciated. Steve Luigi
  8. Hi Rick and thank you for the info. Yes I got my badge at the anniversary in Feb '76. I came second in the dance comp and along with £25 (a lot then), I was given the badge as a prize. As I say I have never before attempted to remove the red badge sticker to align it, as it was off centre, but last night I thought I would give it a go, and found the other (white) badge underneith. Thanks again - Steve Luigi
  9. I have for years owned a Cleethorpes Pier Anniversary Allnighter badge from February 1976, which has always bugged me because the actual sticker inside the badge was off centre. I have never dared peel it off in case I damaged it. Tonight I bit the bullet and peeled it off, and to my surprise, underneith it was another sticker. I have never seen one before and I wondered if anyone else has? Was the sticker in the second photo ever produced as a badge? The first photo is the badge with the sticker realigned, the second, the sticker that was underneith that I am enquiring about. Thanks

  13. Just found out that Vinyl Demand 123 has closed. These are the ones who were copying all the records and putting the same or similar labels on them. They had tonnes on eBay and even more on their website. Never bought any on principle. Your thoughts?
  14. Different music but same subject, they have also removed many House music boots.
  15. Jerry Cook for me, first heard it at the Torch, and still kindles the memories of a stunning venue in the hazy dayz of the early Northern scene.

  20. Short but sweet. I agree with Mr Fred, the scene is stronger now than it was even in the 70s, with more young people getting into the music, because they are either fed up of the Dross that's being force fed to them through the major and some minor radio stations, or because they are listening to what their Fathers, Mothers and even Grandparents are listening to and thinking "Y'know, this is really good". I run the 'Leeds Central Soul Club', I reopened it over 6 years ago after it had been closed for some 30 years. I am always amazed at how many young n's are coming down with either their friends, and in some cases, with their parents. We get the younger end of the market even asking for some of the rare stuff, not the usual Frank Wilson's and The Snake, and they dance better than some of us could even back in the day. My point is, whoever told you that the scene is in decline, I have a spare pair of concrete boots that you should try out on them, 'cos they haven't got a clue. Peace Out
  21. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it. About how Jackie Wilson was ripped off and died penniless
  22. Surely it has to be Ila Vann - Can't stop loving dat man of mine, originally from the movie 'Showboat' in 1936? Why they even start Northern Dancing at the end :-)
  23. Denise LaSalle - Love reputation, sounds like Denise LeSalle - Too late to check your trap, sounds like Nolan Chance - Just like the weather

  25. Who would have thought that this convo that started in 2011, would have spurred me on to restart the Central, and it's still going from strength to strength after 6 years. Not only was the Central the best years of my younger life, it is now also the best years of my autumn days too. Who would have thought back in the day, that little 'Bletch', 'Gnomey', would have been the one to get the Central going again some 40 years later? Thank you to Pete Dillon for putting some fire back into the old belly, and thank you everyone for the support you have given to the Central reborn over the last 6 years. Steve
