  1. Just got it through today and transferred it to CD for the car. The whole recording after the gaps have been edited out is only 37 minutes long.
  2. Did the Robin Wilson come out on general release, cos the only ones I can see are A&M demos? apparently there are 2,both with different B sides ?
  3. When was Robin Wilson?
  4. Which came first? Little Anthony's or Robin Wilson's version of 'Better use your head?
  5. very difficult to choose a 'pre set routine' when you don't know what the DJ/s before you are going to play. Best take a selection of more than you need, but all playable tunes just in case. I have seen many a DJ come unstuck when he has only taken just enough records for the time of his set, and the DJ before him has played a few of them. Boy scout rule - Be prepared!
  6. Don't see how anyone can dis the instrumentals, they have been a staple diet of the scene since it began. The Gallop BRILLIANT!, Exus trek, BRILLIANT! The Champion, BRILLIANT! Thumb a ride, BRILLIANT!, and even Little Queenie filled the floors back at the Torch and still fills the floors and gets Whoops of joy when it's played today!
  7. Awesome Modern Soul 7" for sale - Listen Chuck Jackson - How long have you been loving me - US 'Caroline' Records M- https://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1558.l2649
  8. Stanton do still make them but have changed the model number and shape, but they are still basically the same. https://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a25fada51 If you want to upgrade to Ortofon, you can get these that will fit directly on to your 'Technics' headshell https://www.ebay.co.u...=item3cbdb8e738 To be honest, I would stick with the Stantons, they or more rugged and still sound excellent. Ortofon are nicer looking but are more for club use, but Stanton are an all round winner. If you want to go the whole hog and change your cartridges for Ortofon getting rid of your Technics headshell, then you want these or similar. These will screw directly on to your tonearm as the Technics headshells do. https://www.ebay.co.u...=item5d3628dc90 Hope this helps. PS- I used to sell carts (Cartridges) and styli for years in my records shops.
  9. Just bought this off eBay, Has anyone seen one before? It is the Major live at the 'Torch' on tape but under another title. I checked with the seller what the opening song was and he said "it starts off with "another Martyn Ellis cock up", so I'm sure it is the same recording. Just wondered if anyone knew of the tape and why it was released under another title? Update! After a little more research I have found out that it was actually a Belgium release on the 'Surprise' label, and was also issued as a vinyl album. Still strange that they should change the title?
  10. Sister Sledge - Love don't go through no changes on me UK Atlantic Demo Mint-. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310528982055?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  11. I only have one B&S would you believe, but it is a good one. It's the Wigan 3rd anniversary edition with Marvin Gaye on the front, number 309 Sept 23rd to Oct 4th 1976. Here it is again now rearranged. Looks tidier now.
  12. Just got this through and it plays loud and clear
  13. Thanks fellas, put mind at rest there. I'll let you know what the quality is like when it comes
  14. No just bought it . Is yours bad Jordirip?
  15. That's excellent! Never seen one in that format, I have the original black one, but it's not square. I wonder if that's where the Casino got the idea from when they gave out the 3rd anniversary one on a piece of white cloth to cut out yourselves?
  16. REALLY? That old? Thought it was a relatively new press? Good to hear thanks.
  17. Hey a new one on me that, and not too shabby either. Nice Jazz feel. and the vocal intro makes me think that the song would make a nice ballad too.
  18. Just bought this and wondered when it was pressed in this format and how much I should have paid please. Not an orig' I know, but looks a million times better than the dodgy ones on eBay at the moment, at least it LOOKS like the 'Verve' label.
  19. and if you're going to remix a perfect classic, then this is the way to do it. Just leave it to the experts. Frankie Knuckles feat Satoshi Tomiie (Full Intention remix) Defected records 1999
  20. OMFG!!! That is the biggest pile of shite I've ever heard, WTF??? Leave well alone FFS!
  21. Frankie Knuckles featuring Satoshi Tomii, with the angelic voice of Robert Owens on Vocals. Definitely one of the best Chicago House tunes ever! FFRR 1989
  22. Doris Troy - The Torch
  23. Or maybe as with many, a few DJs went to huge record warehouses in the early days and played through lots of records to see what they were like, so one of them may have stumbled on this one.
