  1. Thanks for the info Phil. great tracks anyway and sounds cool too. Looking forward to playing it out , B side not too shabby either.
  2. No, not a live version, looking at the credits again it says 'recorded at Tropicana studios London' so Ian must have re-recorded it.
  3. Excellent and thanks, on looking at the small print (credits) it does say 'Produced by Ian Levine and Clive Scott for Tropicana Holdings'. As you say Pete he must have got permission to use the Okeh label. Not that much difference between this and the Vonettes version tbh, and not a typical Levine production really, still sounds old, so a good cheap alternative.
  4. I reckon that if someone had time to do a count, that there would be far more boots on eBay than originals, and that's taking into account the re-presses too. It would be a better idea (but it will never happen in a million years) to have separate sections for Originals and boots/re-presses, that way those that wanted ovo, wouldn't have to trawl through the thousands of illegitimate items.
  5. Hi peeps I have just purchased Sandi Sheldon - Touch my heart/One minute too late on Okeh, (a boot I suspect), but I cannot see any original copies of this about, and only a live version of the above mentioned on Youtube? Was this ever an official Okeh release? I know it was also by the Vonettes on Cobblestone and seen a couple of copies of that here and there.
  6. Just looked at buying a cheapie on the bay, then looked at the postage cost from the States at $25.99? WHAT???? OK I can soak up $12-15, when you convert that it's about a tenner, but $26?? NAH!
  7. A huge part of promotion of an event is not only how good it's going to be, but also how good it was. Look at the Leeds Central, it was started up again 2 years ago amongst many doubters and 'it will never be the same'ers', but now it's heaving at every one with folk travelling from all over the country. It's a must for any promoter to do at the very least the basics which include before AND after reports.
  8. Also look at the position of the title etc. On the original demo the writing is correctly positioned, on the boot some of the writing is missing as it has been positioned too high. It's not likely that a mega professional company like Motown are going to make mistakes wit the positioning of the info.
  9. For the price that records can be bought from the states, I think it's usually worth paying the extra for postage.
  10. If I get an original sleeve with a record, I will usually keep it seperate in a box of original sleeves, then if I come to sell a record, I will match the record back with the sleeve.
  11. I remember Bub walking round the Central with a long plastic tube in his mouth with a fag in the other end, swinging the tube round in circles while he was smoking it I also remember being in a club in Scarborough, Bub was DJing and he got on the mic and said 'Burgers on sale at the bar, 30p each or 4 for a quid (drug joke).
  12. Great work!! Look forward to the continuing story
  13. I had an email from the company that produced and designed the canvas, they weren't too happy that one ended up in a charity shop LOL! Anyway they said that this canvas WAS inspired by Ian Brown in a joint venture with "Joe Brown', who are a studenty type clothing company. So there ya go! I still think it has NS overtones. Oh as a post script the canvas retailed at £199, so a fiver was a snip
  14. Yet another legend joins us at the Central in April this year
  15. Just looked if the 'Roses' had anysingles or albums with 'North' in them, but no.
  16. Just looking again it could well be, and the 'Stone Roses' being a northern (not music) band?
  17. Not sure Marky, I will let you know though when I get a reply from the company (if they reply).
  18. Def Wigan record bar, I was there :-)
  19. It will be interesting to see if the designer of this one was a Soulie or Mod? It certainly has NS undertones.
  20. Yeah just been looking and sent an email to them seeing if they have produced anything similar
  21. It say on the authenticity certificate 'Inchpunch Design Agency' Never heard of them but might be worth having a look to see what else they've done.
  22. Been to loads of live gigs obviously, but the one that really stands out for me, apart from MJ in Leeds and Al Green in Manchester, was EWF in Birmingham. Absolutely stunning show with masses of illusions, trickery and lasers, not to mention the amazing music.
  23. Just bought this today, found it in a charity shop. When I saw it it just reminded me of the old days hitch hiking to the nighters. It's a limited edition canvas of only 250, and it only cost me a fiver. I love it.
  24. Apart from taking a lappy to a gig to record it, Minidisc is still the easiest and better sounding method. I have a Pioneer full size one that cost me an unbelievable £12 on eBay, it's so light and easy to transport, and sound is amazing. It is possible to get a full set on a disc and then easy to edit down to your liking. I remember when Minidisc first showed it's face and it was the end of the DAT recorder which many used to record, and for backing track play at many gigs, DAT still sounds awesome, but Minidisc definitely has the edge. I will still be keeping and using mine.
