  1. One on 'Vogue' went on eBay yesterday for £26.
  2. LOL! Thats' what I just said too Len, and it does work providing it's not a press fault.
  3. Just got a fats Domino 'It keeps raining' with 'I'm walking (to new Orleans' on the B side. Not a promo, but both top tracks.
  4. I've seen it on sale for £210 brand new, and £130ish used. There are also battered copies about for a few quid.
  5. Surely there can't be many people that don't know what Northern Soul is these days, can there? With all the TV ads, and programmes, and radio 2 blasting it out ever few tunes, and records like 'mercy' and the video that went with it etc etc. I have always said Northern Soul, in the early days OK, they had an excuse for not knowing, but now, no excuse whatsoever, and if they don't know what it is, then, just say, like Tamla Motown.
  6. Got this through the other day too. Great cheap record (£6) and nice on a demo.
  7. I know this sounds brutal, but true and it works. When the record is playing and it reaches the skip, press down on the headshell making sure your finger moves with it on it's natural course. The stylus will take any crap out of the groove and will cure the skip. Like I say, brutal but it does work, and it won't damage the styli or the record if done carefully. The above only works if the skip is caused by groove clogging, and not a pressing fault.
  8. Have this for sale 'The sound of Philadelphia - Tony Cummins - 1975' VG+ condition with small mark on front cover (see photo) Had this since day of release and read it numerous times, it's a great book with loads of top photos of artists etc. Has sold for much much more, my price £75. PM me if interested - Advertised elsewhere too.
  9. Ultra rare book 'The Sound of Philadelphia - Tony Cummins' 1975 Now on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310667315890?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  10. Heheh!! forgot to mention, the one I have bought on 'Phil-la-of soul' has the labels on the wrong sides. Could this be a one off? a rarity? another Frank Wilson? LOL!! Then I fell out of bed
  11. So both the 'Route' and 'Phil-la-of soul' are re-releases. If you couldn't find a 'Landa' one, what would be your preference between the 2?
  12. Yes definitely. It might be worth starting another thread of 'Releases on strange labels'? Bet there are tons.
  13. So the 'PYE Disco demand' of the US then :-)
  14. Yes thanks for that Toad. But why was it re-pressed on 'Phil-la-of soul'? Did they have the rights to the 'Landa' records catalog? Usually unless booted, records are released or re-released on partner labels, or labels that have bought, or own the rights to the back catalog. Also I have checked out the 'Phil-la-of soul' discography and it is not included on there at all, in fact the cat number is quite a lot greater than the last release.
  15. Got this last week, posted it then but not in this thread.
  16. Thanks dean, no, no specific reason, just thought it was a decent price at £12 with free postage. There is also a French one on 'Vogue' too, seen that and a few Landa ones, but thay all seem to fetch more than £50, some topping a ton. Thanks matey. PS - Why would they boot it on 'Phi-la'? which is a legit label. is it related to Landa? just seems a bit random.
  17. Hi peeps Can someone let me know what I should be paying for a copy of 'Get out' on 'Phi-la of soul' please? Not sure the history of it on this label either, so a bit of light shed on that would be nice too. Thank you
  18. Just bought a nice copy of 'The Lewis Sisters - You need me' on US 'VIP' What a stormer of a tune! and I must admit, new to me Love it! and for a lovely price of £6.49 too
  19. A bargain at $15 +P&P. Love mi US Motown demos
  20. I like the alternative version, and I like the original version, but which is best? There's only 1 way to find out, FIGHT!!!!!!
  21. The Night - Frankie Valli on Steve Wright show today also, it's all over the place at the mo'
  22. I know, and to be truthful I am usually a stickler for 'B' sides too, there are many hidden treasures lying on flips. Can't imagine why I didn't flip it years age, I've had if for yonks, as i said, must have just been the title that put me off doing it, I have had other re-presses that have had spurious versions of other tracks on the flip and renamed as the artist on the 'A' side, and I think that must have swayed me. But hey! a nice surprise, albeit quite a quiet press, still a stunner.
  23. Yeah, as I say, the reason I didn't play the flip is because of the title, thought it might just be a spurious version of the Johnny Caswell tune, so never bothered.
  24. Ah! not heard it out then.
