  1. All these points beg the question. If this record (WSOT) had been found in a pile of old records in Detroit in a 1 cent box in a back street junk shop, and it was actually nothing to do with Ian Levine & Steve Bernstien, and hadn't been ready made for the NS market to fool people. Would it get played by the big guns as a rare Northern Soul record and be worth lots of money?
  2. Yes, one funny incident. As we know VaVa's had a lot of perspex partitions within, and I remember watching a guy lean back thinking there was a partition behind him, and falling flat on his back. LOL, Funny at the time, but not for the person in question.
  3. I know there has a lot of bad things been said about Mr Levine, but when I used to go to the Mecca, along with the other DJs there such as Colin Curtis and the like, he was one of the Gods to the people who travelled many miles to listen to their music. We weren't bothered what they were, all we knew back then is that they played the tunes that we wanted to hear. Also when I first heard 'Solid Ground' I honestly had no idea whatsoever that is was a Levine production, and loved it from the word go. I wasn't made aware that it was his until a friend of mine handed me a Levine productions CD with it on. Which just proves to me anyway, if you hear a tune and you like it, and it works, it doesn't matter who it is by, and to some, finding out who it is by, fires up the discrimination. Also, although the majority was shite, Mr Levine was largely responsible for the 'High Energy' scene. As I say, shite in the whole (with a couple of exceptions) but massive in it's day to millions of clubbers worldwide. Just my opinion
  4. So what are the thoughts on 'Solid ground'? again Levine penned and produced.

  6. I haven't had this problem, I have listed on eBay for 11 years, all I can imagine is that you have got your settings set so that your preffered eBay site is in the US and not the UK. In your setting you need to tick the box that states 'I list in more than one country' I have found that the best way to list is using an eBay tool called 'Turbo Lister', it's free and let's you design your listings offline, and then upload them when you're ready.
  7. A method used regularly by scratchers, I wonder??

  11. I heard she has a 'W' on each arse cheek and when she bent over it said 'WoW' LOL
  12. Apparently he was Welsh? Interesting read! https://left-and-to-the-back.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/gene-latter-sign-on-dotted-line-i-love.html
  13. Excellent and thank you for clearing that up.
  14. Hi peeps and peepesses. I know it's a cheesy one, but it sounded good after years of not hearing it. I have just purchased a copy of 'Gene Latter-Sign on the dotted line' on a 'Spark' Demo from 1969. I have been informed that it is a re-press, and I was wondering what label the original release was on? Was it the same label with a different design, or another label completely? I have seen the silver 'Spark' release, is that the orig'? Scans of the orig' would be nice if anyone has anything so cheesy in their box This is the one I got.
  15. Just picked this up for $10 Nice and unusual I thought, have we seen any before? It's a Canadian Radio Station copy.
  16. One of the biggest floor fillers and can still be picked up for a fiver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34WLRnyMLiw
  17. "So is the same gonna happen to 'As if there were no tomorrow'? C'mon, you know it's terrible tune that should only be played when all the soul records have been smashed to pieces and buried deep in an oceanic trench" LOL!! Took the bait and landed!!
  18. I didn't say it didnt, I was merely comparing it to the out and out Northern Soul tracks such as the 'Frankie Beverleys and Eddie Parker' style records, saying that it wasn't in that style of music. I 100% agree what you are saying and know this too as I have loved the music for over 40 years, and visited some of the best club going in that time, including the Torch, VaVas, Samantha's, Casino and the place that I think Velvet Hammer was first played Blackpool Mecca. Someone will correct me if I am wrong there. Tunes like this HAVE as you say helped make the scene what it is today, and who knows what the future of the scene is, not you or I or anyone for that matter, it will happen as it happens and we'll have to wait and see,
  19. So is the same gonna happen to 'As if there were no tomorrow'? C'mon, you know you all love it Just wondered if it's going to go as big as 'when we get there'? Who knows? Not I.
  20. Yeah £122, not as much as i got for my black US issue a few months back at £132. I would have thought more to be honest but hey? someone got a bargain, or did they??
  21. I do agree with that in some cases, but in my case, my wife was playing on her lappy while I was on my PC, I heard it and recognised that I knew the track from years ago and asked her what it was, she said it's a video that my sister-in-law had put on her facebook page. I asked on facebook if anyone know the track and got the answer. So was nothing to do with seeing a video with it on, in my case if I'd have heard it out, I would have recocnised it and asked what it was too. Love the track and look forward to playing it. BUT can I add that I don't think it is a true representation of Northern Soul either, I would actually place it in the 'Disco' genre more than Northern Soul, along with the Brainstorms and Skip Mahoneys of this world, but then again, I love the disco stuff too.
  22. Yeah was watching that one, and the one before it went for £130 too.
  23. I have to admit in all honesty, that I had completely forgotten about the track since I first heard it some 30 years ago I think. I heard it for the first time recently on the video that I posted and to actually ask what it was. Instant love it was an had to have a copy. I finally managed to get it after being tipped off about an album by Andre Williams that included the track and bought one of those. Love albums anyway so not too bothered if it's not a 7.
