  1. Trouble is when you register a company name, you also get a hefty corperation tax bill through within a month from out lovely small business helping government.
  2. I have one of the original Handytrax, BRILLIANT! Had it for about 10 years, never changed the stylus, never had to, still sharp as... Cost me £70 new as I worked in shop that sold them so got a good discount. I use it next to my office desk to play any records I buy to see if they play OK. Never fails and as said above, more popular now than ever. This one I got from a charity shop about 2 months ago, bought it for £25 cos they said they couldn't get it to work and it didn't have a plug. Might have helped if they had opened it up and seen that it actually took batteries. Bought new batteries and works perfect. Last one that worked sold for £325.
  3. I bought a proper normal release copy a few weeks ago for £8 would you believe, Not the prettiest in the bunch, but plays well and for £8??
  4. And this, not sure it would be worth this if it was an original? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Barbara-Mills-Queen-of-fools-Make-it-last-take-your-time-45-1323-7-Single-/221599485990?pt=UK_Records&hash=item33985bd026
  5. It is a sight to behold. I do love these unusual label releases. I have bought a few just lately, and they do make the 'rubber neckers' look twice when you play them
  6. Has anyone ever seen one of these? I happened upon it when searching the net and bought it for a total of $30 (£19 approx') including postage from Argentina. It's an Argentinian Demo, never played (Mint) in company sleeve, of 'The Exciters - Number one' I had to listen to the track on Youtube as I thought I recognised the title, and I remember it from I think The Casino? Torch? Not heard it for years, Great track anyway, and in my eyes, a thing of beauty.
  7. I thought that the one on eBay that has just sold was a legit west Indian demo. I contacted the seller and offered him quite a bit for it (naughty I know) but he wasn't interested, and wanted to let it run. I think if he knew it was a boot he would have accepted a decent offer like mine. It did end up for quite a bit more than I offered him. The release is also catalogued on Discogs https://www.discogs.com/Solomon-King-This-Beautiful-Day-Say-A-Prayer/release/7964811
  8. I got this fairly cheap not knowing whether it was a boot or not. It is different to the one Pete has posted, as you can see, it has 'Promotionl not for sale' on the right hand side of the label, and doesn't have the 'Xs' on the left hand side. It it a pale red, with a 'mottled' looking label, and it is pressed off centre, it has the 'UV 5134' in the dead wax, and also '16964' opposite. I believe now this to be a boot going by what is posted above. If it is, it may serve a purpose to someone that want's to know what a boot looks like.
  9. It depends a lot on how well you know your postman, and how well he knows you. I have had the same postman for 20 years and we knew each other before then. We have an understanding that if a signed for item comes and there is no one in, he put it through the door, or window if it's open. BUT if you haven't got that sort of relationship with your postie, you can check on your item number even if it is showing as 'in process' by ringing the tracking office. Failing that you are insured up to a certain amount anyway, whether it will cover the price of the record only you know, but you have to wait 17 days I think it is before you can claim from the post office.
  10. I know, I'm back again, but the more I look at this record, the more it begs me to investigate why it is different. Has anyone had any more info on this? I wrote to Record collector but they never got back to me, and no one I have shown it to has ever seen another. Here is the situation thus far: This is the third copy of this I have had and the other two before this, both had the 'A' side as 'Say a prayer'. This one however has got 'Say a prayer for me' as the 'A', same record, different title. It is listed on the UK Columbia Discography as 'Say a prayer' as the 'A' ~ The matrix number is '7xcA32660-1' on the 'Say a prayer for me side' and '7xcA32660-0' on the 'This beautiful day' side ~ The letters 'KT' are at 5 O'clock on the 'This Beautiful Day' side, and at 10 O'clock on the 'Say A Prayer For Me' side At 7 o'clock there are 2 'Gs' (GG) together on the 'This Beautiful Day' side, and on the 'Say A Prayer For Me' side at 2 O'clock there is the letter 'T The query is, why is the 'A' side title different? What do the (GG) stand for? as it should be a single 'G'. Why is it different to any other I have seen? Thanks for any help at all, sorry about the highlighting, that's with copying and pasting after a search
  11. Not a lot, I got an orig' for £8, maybe I was lucky.
  12. Excellent, thank you lads
  13. No Pete, because the label is Grey, well maybe the mispelling too, but mainly the label and that much of the writing at the bottom looks missing.
  14. In your expert opinions, is this a boot?
  15. It's gone foooking mental!! "Gerry, shall we put the band back together?" "She hung up" "Fooked right off"
  16. Traded with them for years and never any problems. Maybe an idea to give them a ring and make them aware of the website error?
