  1. If it helps anyone I could post the audio so you can have a listen? They are all worth a listen if you don't know them.
  2. I keep mine in a database with artists, title, label and country of origin. It beats having to look through all of your records to see if you already have a tune, every time you see one that you're interested in. They are dead easy to set up too, and really handy if you want to send a list of your tunes to someone, as you can save the database as a small text file.
  3. OOPS soz, mi-spelt the topic title, it could have been priced or picked LOL It's picked anyway :-) Hi folks, just picked up some nice 7s out of a second hand record shop. To be honest i took a bit of a gamble as i hadn't heard some of them, but the labels looked right and artists, producers etc. I think I have been quite lucky as they are all decent. Does anyone know them on here aand let me know if they are worth what i paid. thanks The next Time - Mama said - Wand - £3 The three degrees - I didn't know - US Philadelphia Demo - £3 The three degrees - Free ride - US Philadelphia Demo- £3 John Edward - Stop this merry go round - US Aware demo - £3
  4. There was one on the Bay a few weeks ago, went for £78.
  5. The first time I heard northern on Corrie was in the 70s, when one of the younger members of the cast, one of the Barlowe's i think, was playing 'Marvin Gaye - Little darling' in her bedroom. Priceless!
  6. I thnk the Susan Maughan is the best in my humble opinion, and it has been dance floor proven. I played it at the Irish centre in Leeds and the floor was full, and afterwards a guy came up and said that it was the best tune that had been played all night, and before you say it, there were some awesome tunes played throughout the night. saying that, everyone has their own preferences and i like both versions, but I tip on the side of Susan's version.
  7. There are loads of disco tunes have crossed over to the Northern scene, although I have never liked the Benny Troy tune, there are a lot that I and many others do like, where do I start? Ace Spectrum - Don't send nobody else, The Brothers- Are you ready for this, Esther Philips - What a difference a day makes, Sister Sledge - Love don't go through............., All Disco tunes, and one or two of 'em made it to anthem status. As we all know it was Blackpool Mecca that crossed the disco tunes over into the Northern Scene, good thing, or bad, there are some monstrous disco tunes. Views?
  8. The 'From the vaults' album is excellent, and well worth the punt. got one a few months ago for about £8 I think. but you can't get the Spinners track any other way as it was never released on 7". Also don't know if any of you know this, but the 'Ace Spectrum' track 'don't send nobody else' was released on an album called 'The disco years 1974-1979'. I know it's a bit off topic like, but the recording is good and loud and an alternative to paying the silly money that the 7" is changing hands for now. Discovered it quite by chance and paid a fiver for it, and as a bonus you get 'Sister Sledge - Love don't go through no changes on me. bargain! Hey Ho!!
  9. heheh! you sound like the geezer on 'cash in the attic' "erm I think it should fetch between £20 and £200 at auction" LOL
  10. has anyone got any idea of what Maxine Brown's ' Let me give you my loving' is worth please? ta! thanks! Cheers
  11. Looks like the same one as i have, and I was informed on 'SS' that it is a boot. It didn't bother me much as it only cost me about £9, but £89 is a bit different. How can you actually tell the boot from the orig'? BTW 'dancingcollector' he has quite a bit of Northern on there and either knows what to charge, or has had advice from a third party?.
  12. Just stuck some Northern bits on Ebay if anyone's interested. Nowt special, but a few collection fillers. Northern bits n bobs
  13. LOL and Charity shops
  14. Hi fellas I have just picked up a couple of Motown albums. One of them I'm pretty sure is quite common which is 'Diana Ross & The Supremes with The Temptations Together' This is nice, in mint condition and on the US Motown label (MS 692) The one I can't find anything about is called 'Motown sixteen super smashes'. It is on the orange Dutch Motown label and again is in Mint condition. The matrix number is '5C 062-96024' I have done a comprehensive search on the interweb, and it's not coming up with anything. Is there anyone on here who has any idea of anything about it, is it rare, and why isn't it catalogued anywhere? I have attached some pictures below. Thank you in advance.
  15. JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS ONE DAY LEFT ON THE FOLLOWING AUCTION ON EBAY THANKS KIM WESTON - A THRILL A MOMENT
  16. I have just put a rare James Brown double vinyl album on Ebay if anyone is interested? The album is in Mint- condition and is hard to find on the vinyl issue (easy on CD) Click on the link Roots of a revolution
  17. Just in case you were wondering, my avaitar is taken from the front cover of the 'Soul Survivors 2' album, that's me stood up at the front with the fag in my hand (as usual) with the wicked cord bags (what happened to them, and my Levi Skinners?). Wouldn't fit me now anyway cos I'm a fat bastard. Cheeky blighters didn't even ask permission to use it either LOL. I'd have thought putting me on the front would have affected sales of the album, well I wouldn't buy it Heheh!!
  18. Here is the Auction Kim Weston It says they are in VG+ condition, heres' hoping eh?
  19. Yeah man, can't wait to get it, I've had to put up with the re-release copy with 'I'm still loving you' on the other side up til' now. Now i can play it in it's own right. Would you believe that only 4 people bid on the auction including me? How mad is that? I'll make sure I play the flip as well, it's sounds good to me. Thanks again fellahs.
  20. That's great news, thought it was worth more than I paid for it. I'm buzzing now :-) Thanks for that. Ebay auction
